For those that qualify there is also the grant system.

Wow only 2 days left... I'm actually excited, can't wait to get that paper and be done with it! I feel some sort of disappointment heading my way...

The more I think the more I want my first choice rather than my backup.
I'm nervous, but I was really calm throughout my exams and I think I did well enough for 400 points.
    But I'm still nervous..

Yuuup I'm the same I need 400 like I'm not actually worried about getting 400 but I won't be happy to get just that, anyway getting the course is first

What's done is done lads, June was the time to worry about your exams.

Realistically if put work in you're probably fine, if you're not fine there's another, less direct route into what you want to do.

You'll most likely be happy, most likely go to college and most likely have a great Wednesday and then a great first year.

So chill and enjoy your summer, worrying won't change anything.

Will the teachers be informed of our results beforehand?

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop A's.......

Depending on how many candidates there are in the school, the Principal and/or Deputy Principal may get some help from senior teachers photocopying results sheets (for your file) and putting the results in envelopes and addressing the envelopes. I've done this myself. You don't really have time to be examining each candidate's results, so the answer is yes and no, some teachers may have seen your results in advance, but it's quite possible they don't remember them.

There is an overall mark sheet broken down into subjects which just has exam numbers on it, so teachers who are in the school that day could look at, say, the French results and see everyone passed, or whatever.

In my old school, there were very few teachers in before the candidates, but usually a copy of the results sheet would be left in the staff room for people to look up particular students when they come back to work.

It's quite possible you will not see any subject teachers when you collect your results.

Sometimes the guidance counsellor has a quick look to see if there is any student might need counselling after the results.

The only teachers that showed up to ours was Maths because a few lads failed HL and the teachers were consoling them and giving advice as to what to do next.

Results is a bit of an anticlimax. I was disappointed with mine but got enough for my first choice. Results day was the first and last time anyone asked me what I got. Even if you're madly disappointed, please go out and enjoy yourself. There are so many other routes to college and once you're in no one cares if you got in from the LC, through a PLC or as a mature student.

How I see it is, the LC is important but it's not THAT important. The LC does not reflect who you are as a person or what skills you have that aren't observed in the classroom. Once you're in college you'll realise that being smart isn't enough and that strong interpersonal skills and to be able to assert yourself in a group are just as important. I'm going off on a tangent I just wish I could go back and tell sixth year me all of this.

    .

In fairness, September 2014 was the time to worry about your exams. :D

Guidance counsellors were there in force when our results came out. I don't remember seeing any teachers... twas a while back now though

Sadly, there are always some years where some young person does what we Irish like to call 'something silly' following results. I'm sure there are other things probably going on with them, but sometimes the results trigger it.

The counselling I was referring to though was career counselling, other ways to get into courses, should the expected choices fall through.

Jesus, that's terrible! Even as a guy with bipolar who knows small things can trigger episodes, I can't imagine any exam worth losing your head over. I do hope if anyone's disappointed with their results they don't lose perspective. All the drink and parents bragging and buildup really creates a toxic environment for those who aren't happy with their results...

There I was coming into the Leaving Cert forum expecting to see tumbleweed blowing around and all prepared to start a thread in anticipation of the results only to see 5 pages of everyone already at it :D Anyway I recommend that everyone download a points calculator onto their phone to make it easier to quickly work out how many points you've gotten - you don't want to get caught in the heat of the moment and accidentally add in an extra 100 points only to realise later that you got a lot less than you thought

I've had that since September... Out of nowhere I'd get anxiety over not getting enough points so I'd grab my phone and mash in a bunch of different combinations to reassure myself that even if I do terrible in a few subjects I can still manage to get my required points. The app really helped me through tons of stressful days.

Haven't heard anything from my school re collecting the results so I assume we all just turn up at 9 at our respective schools?

Completely bricking it, haven't slept or eaten properly with over a week. The results dreams are the worst.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Yeah my school hasn't contacted me so I called them yesterday and they said 9:15 was the time to come in to collect the results. I highly doubt I will sleep tonight but I have to so I don't end up falling asleep at 6am or something and then waking up to everyone already talking about their results.
    Good luck to you too!

Could end up like the day the HPAT results came out, I stayed up all night and fell asleep 20 mins before they released the results at 5.30am! I've a whole houseful anxiously awaiting my results so I'm sure someone will wake me haha.

Yeah, I think I would rather them release the results at a time like 9am, the last think I would want is to be super excited after staying up all night or to be extremely disappointed. Then to start recieved loads of texts at like 6am in the morning.

really no big deal , bit of advice would be to get your envelope walk back to the car with your parents and open there, the amount of rumours that float about based on seeing a person crying would shock you !

I was told that they came out after 1 last year so I stayed up, it was worth it though, I wasn't disappointed :D

I already have a feeling that my mam will not be too happy with whatever results that I think I am going to get

****ing hell, I'm an external candidate and I can't find my pin and I'm going on a little vacation today, won't be back for 3 days.

D'you think the SEC will send me my pin if I can tell them my examination number?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 129 ✭✭Samurai12

you can call this number 1530 716 016 or 0035316885312 if you are calling from outside Ireland. It is SEC's number to get the results. You would have to prove your identity probably through your PPS number

Just to anyone who doesn't get what they want.

I did my leaving cert in 2014, and it wasn't great (245 points). I didn't get my first choice level 8 degree, but I got my first choice level 6 cert.

I have finished my cert in May just gone, and I'm going into year 3 of the degree that was my first choice initially.

There is always a way to do what you want to do, always.

    Best of luck.

Well whatever time your school day would usually start, just add a half hour to that and you should be grand to go in at that time
