I was out to a cow with redwater and the blood donor was the one that ended up upside down in the crush. The cow was very far gone but we got her treated and when I called for an update the next day the redwater cow was coming around and he was in much better form funnily enough. Have heard since he has a peculiar manner so to speak. He might be more calm the next day! :)

I didn't think cattle got redwater in the sunny south east.

You're right I was surprised too. That's the second transfusion I've had to do here since I moved back in June. My colleagues hadn't seen many cases in the last few years. Was in Fermanagh for the Spring, it was rife up there, was just getting going in May but the lads there were kept busy all Summer doing transfusions more days than not! Seeing a bit more in the South East and my theory is it is due to dairy herds rapidly expanding and and buying in cows which apparently are naive. That and this year seems to be a bad year for ticks all over, on dogs, cattle, cats, the lot.

Red & Black is a vet so it's a pity to see a farmer being a d1ck to him.

Thanks for support :D I never get too excited when things are going well nor too annoyed when things are going badly. If you wait a few minutes either time it all turns around anyway!

I reckon the thermostat in most women is broken. A man would die of heat exposure of they were left in charge of the heating

I think BP got it right, but ya those fcukers have it in for me. I think I'll try wearing white next year, see if that helps.

My father would happily roast himself next to the fire with logs/coal/kitchen sink stuffed into it. Yet he'd have the kitchen window open for a bit of air at the same time

Have any of ye come across this before lads? Last calf born here tagged about 5 weeks ago and he has big scabs formed over where both his ears were pierced and some of the tag itself. Have never seen it to happen before and only noticed it a few days ago.

His ear is infected where the tag punched through the ear.

Edit: You may have to remove the tag and replace it later if the infection is bad.
