Was never asked for one. The more responsible places asked if I'd ever ridden a scooter before I think it's pretty tough to ride legally on holiday - they generally still want the bribe if you've a foreign or international licence. I wasn't stopped though so that's 2nd hand info.

Around 7k? Japan probably bumped that by 700 before food / accommodation, and I did spend about 450 at a tailors. Probably had private rooms a bit more often than hostel dorms too, could definitely have done it cheaper.

Stood outside Dublin airport now waiting on the bus to Donegal - survived the flights home!
