You only have to make a declaration if you go over €1200 on dividends per year though, right?

And once every 5 years you have to make a settlement for any gains you have made offsetting any losses?

    Do I have that right?

What if you only take 1200 a year? You still need to do a settlement every 5 years?

Dividend taxes - what needs to be done? What tax do they take off in Degiro? Do I have to pay more? What if I'm below the ~1300 threshold?

Dividend tax does not come under the CGT exemption.

What tax is taken from DeGiro? Do I need to do something regarding it?

Degiro discount the dividends by the appropriate dividend withholding tax. For US equities this is 15% if you have filled out a W8BEN or 30% I believe if you have not. You do not get this dividend withholding tax back as it goes to Revenue over in the US.

When you file your return online (I cannot comment on the comments above as I file my dividends regardless of if they are up to a limit or not. I'm still reviewing the above comments), Irish revenue assumes that the DWT has been taken already and so treats it as tax already paid. I believe you declare the gross dividend amount.

Still doesn't make sense to me...

Where do I sign the form for the US to reduce the tax to 15%?

So if I pay the US tax, I don't get double taxed in ireland?

It's probably worth speaking to an accountant about your personal situation.

You still must pay your Irish tax via a tax return if you are Irish and resident here. You will get a credit for the 15% US tax already withheld though on US dividends.

My dividends are only in the few euros..

Sounds really complicated when the times comes to withdraw funds, trying to calculate how much dividends you aren't including in tax figures..

I'm not sure what you mean. Withhdrawing funds is irrelevant. You receive €100 euro in dividends in the year - you declare 100 euro in dividends on your tax return.

I dont see why thats complicated.

If you are setup for Degiro, it would have been one of the first few things that you did. If not, the W8BEN form should be sitting in your notices section to complete. Unfortunately I cannot be exact as it is something I completed a year ago and is no longer an option for me.
As for the dividends earned in the tax year, Degiro do most of the work for you. When it comes to tax year end, they will produce a tax pack for you which will outline what dividends were received in the tax

Noticed it the other day. Nothing jumped out at me.

It was all very vague, I think the last time they updated policy they were very specific in the edits, the 'explanation' this time just said stuff like, section 8(c) has been revised. No hint as to what the revision was achieving. Very suspicious... it's probably nothing though, I was just too lazy to go searching through the document.

Where would be best to read more about the calls available on Degiro? Looking at some Tesla calls but not sure if they are.ones that you can only execute on end date or at any time up to then. Also seem to be just available in EUR but having been buying the shares on the nasdaq to this point.

I'm going to move my portfolio to Degiro have registered but need to do a bank transfer to see the interface. Can anyone tell me if you can buy UK investment trusts eg. Foreign & Colonial investment trust on Degiro please as I can't see interface. Has anyone succesfully transferred stock to Degiro ?

New to trading - when using Degiro, are profits made on a trade back in your account straight away? Ie. If I have €1,000 in my account and sell on Monday for a €100 profit, how soon can I buy another stock for €1,100?

I never used Trustly before, but I was wondering, how long it would usually take in order to deposit around 1k€ via Trustly?

All my bank transfers take at least one business day (AIB).
