@Shiny ... I think you've missed the intent of a 'Film' photography thread somewhat :-)

11 July 1985 I did my last exam in Leeds

12 July 1985 I took a train down to London

13 July 1985, I headed over to Wembley with my trusty Olympus OM10 and Tamron Adaptall 200mm lens

Shortly before 7pm this guy entered stage right:

3rd concert I smuggled the camera into. The OM10 body was strapped round my back, and the 200mm lens hidden in a thermos flask!!

I bought a EOS 1N a week or so ago, first film camera in years. Following shot came off the first roll I shot. This is as it was developed. I have another version which is photoshopped and warmed up etc... but I thought it better to post the original. Taken up at Ticknock Sunday 5 Feb.

your records system is excellent if you know the exact dates 34 years later (or did you keep the tickets from the gigs to use as reference?)

Some I've got tickets for. Some like Live Aid will stay engraved in my mind. I've also got a spreadsheet listing those where I took photos and I can google the dates.

I've just realised though I have photos from 2 AC/DC concerts so now need to do a bit more research on one of them

They are all between March 1981 (Slade) and late 1988 (Human rights now)

I'm going to start transferring to the PC which may be quite a challenge. For example I took around 550 photos at Live Aid. Some colour, some B&W and some slides. I often took 4 or more films which means in many cases I've 150 or so to work through for some of the "smaller" concerts.

    A slightly different environment:

The things I like about this are the straining in Kevin Moran's neck and the look of fear in Adrian Heath's face as he's pounded from behind by one of the hardest men in the game

Elton John, Queens Hall, Leeds, 18 June 1984

    411677.jpg

Was very near the front, and using the standard 50mm lens. Film was Kodax 400ASA

Later on he threw the yellow jacket into the crowd. It was quickly ripped to shreds, but fortunately the guy stood next to me grabbed a bit for me. It was only perhaps 3 inches by 1 and it's currently stashed away somewhere, but I have no idea where!

I went the following night also, but did not take the camera that time - that meant I got to properly enjoy the concert. Have another couple of films in B&W that I've not got round to uploading yet.

Then there was a bloke called Alice...

The Nightmare Returns to Manchester Apollo 28 November 1986

    412211.JPG

    412212.JPG

I went to see him 2 nights in succession. Both times I was very near the stage and the first night I took 4 B&W films. Second night I upped the ante and took some colour films.

A few minutes in the crowd to my left parted and this burly bouncer was there in the distance pointing his finger and summonsing me to him. I probably had shot 20 pictures or so at that stage and resigned myself to having to stop. I went over to him and he gave me a bit of a rollocking. He then asked for the film. Better than confiscating my camera I thought but he then proceeded to expose it. The b*stard!! Anyway I still had everything intact from the first night. I reckon either Cooper or someone in his entourage had spotted me the first evening and decided anyone taking photos the second night was to be clamped down on.

    Phil Collins:

    412895.jpg

OK - it was Concorde on it's way over to the States on 13 July 1985, with this gent onboard:

    412896.jpg

The second photo was taken a couple of hours before the first, with Collins playing at both Wembley Stadium and Philadelphia. Hence they held Concorde on the tarmac at Heathrow until Collins could get over from Wembley. They then made sure they flew over Wembley Stadium on their way...

Actually, interesting screwup I made while developing that Konica IR film. It's pretty old, expired in '83 or something but it's slow and it's been kept frozen since so it's in pretty good nick. Only problem is that it's prone to what's called 'reticulation'. This happens when you dev at one temperature (say 20 degrees) and then rinse at something dramatically different. In may case I rinsed straight from the hot tap which gets up to about 35/40 degrees or so. DOH. Never a problem with modern film so I wasn't paying much attention, but what used to happen with older emulsions was that the emulsion would expand and contract because of the sudden temperature changes, and split in a very distinctive way.

Here's a crop from the other shot I put up on the random photos thread...
