I feel like my sweet heart, my agat 18k has died.
Been using it on/off all week and was in photo 29 I think, went to wind it on to take a photo and something cracked and there was no resistance in the winding at all - and I tried to rewind the film but no resistance.

Going to leave it till tomorrow night to open her up, or may just go to the photo shop with her and ask for them to take the last roll of film out for me as they have a good dark room bag.
A friend of mine left England now for good and I have my last photos of her on that roll.
Not normally too fussed on loosing a roll but this one is different.

First photo I took with her in April:

I opened my agat in the dark under covers - she is not broken!
The film snapped off the canister so would be impossible to rewind. I have no black canisters to put the film into so might go to the photo shop and ask them to take the camera and remove it in the dark room or whatever if possible.
Very happy my little camera seems okay, I was guessing this by feel but I don't think anything was a miss.

This reminded me that I am going to get some prints of a trip my family took on Cornwall to send home in a little album for them.

I do think the camera is broken, but will fiddle with it - the film snapped half way through, but the film winder feed bit, the external section does wind, but the important internal section does not. So film can't be wound on rendering it a bit useless.
All plastic parts so the chances of getting it going is slim.

Considering buying a different half frame, not an agat18k, any suggestions?
I do prefer small/not bulky cameras and not very fussed on lens.

    Yashica Samurai :-D

I have a couple of half frames, got a Ricoh Auto Half which kinda does the job, and a Canon Prima Tele which is an AF point and shoot which boasts not only switchable dual focal lengths but also half frame capability  Amazing.

Have you considered one of the Olympus Pen SLRs ? I've always fancied one but they've gotten crazy expensive over the last few years. I should have picked one up 10 years ago when they were being flogged off for about €50 :-/

But anyhow, Yashica Samurai. How could you resist.

Spent an hour casually browsing sites such as the sub club and just researching any interesting half frame cameras.

I was looking at a Ricoh half as they are small are affordable but many reviews and comments I seen said they were very temperamental?
I know I said I am not too fussy so I should sush :D
The Ricoh 500G looks pretty good, I seen a few that are apparently in working order but just need the black out foam replaced.

I seen a Penti 1 till I noticed its cartridges which I have no experience using.

    Oh!
Yeshiva Samurai, I noticed even before I got a half frame at all as its is such an odd camera!
However again it uses cartridges and some on eBay are £100 up! - some are cheaper though (for now) until bidding starts.
Looks very curious and I have lurked on flickr at some examples of images from it.

A friend of mine has a lovely little Olympus Pen but they are so expensive, my budget is capped at around £35 if I am being very generous.

Looked at a Canon Demi and Agfa Paramat etc (would not want automatic as I wanna force myself to keep getting used to manual controls).
But I think a Olympus Pen would be the dream ha

Avoiding Chaika-3 maybe, well I could get another Russian half frame and hope its grand.

I am pretty wary of cartridges before but I would be tentative to try it myself?

Honestly (I know I typed a lot there) but I would be pretty happy with anything, its just I can sit and look at different ones.
I just snap for the craic nothing serious so does not matter.

Sorry for the absence, was building up a few rolls to get dev at one time plus uni work in the way.

Was given a Golden Half by someone after my Agat18k broke - I still prefer my old camera.

    Aga vista 200 I think.

Poor gull got run over right beside us so we decided to put him the water instead of a bin.
