I honestly don't understand why her being the daughter of Jim Gordon has anything to do with the character potentially being a role model.

Yeah, you could just as easily spin it as a woman proving there's nothing stopping her being as good or better than her father and her inspiration!

Barb has never been in Jim's shadow. In fact I thought that's the whole point.

That's a great response in general on Twitter. Challenge the person outright to put their money where their mouth is.

New ‘Flash’ Directors Haven’t Begun Work Because Their Deal Isn’t Done
It’s been over a month since it was first reported that Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were in talks to direct a solo movie about The Flash, but Wednesday night the two told The Hollywood Reporter that they still haven’t finalized a deal with Warner Bros.

“We’re still negotiating,” Daley said at the premiere of their latest directorial effort, Game Night, a comedy thriller starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. “Deals are in the works right now.”

They insist that they haven’t started working on the script of the film, called Flashpoint, yet because “we have to sign the deal,” Daley said. “Hopefully, it will work out.”

Goldstein joked the holdup is due to very crucial deal point. “It’s all about parking spots,” he quipped. “If you give in then you’re all the way out by craft services. You want a better spot than that.”

Flashpoint will star Ezra Miller, reprising his role as the DC superhero from Justice League. Directors Rick Famuyiwa and Seth Grahame-Smith were previously attached separately to helm Flashpoint.

Had to recheck where I saw it and it actually wasn't to do with her being a role model and more to do with whether it would garner enough attention to make the big bucks given that she is just an immitation

Honestly sounds like someone trying to find a reason not to buy into it.

In the current climate, with the current hunger for good DC stuff, Batgirl has way more going for her than she does against, in terms of marketability.

Like honestly was Guardians of the galaxy considered marketable a few years ago? Was Black Panther? Make it good and it will sell.

Henry Cavill is looking to stay on as Super-man, said as much himself, though it's just a rumour for now...
Putting the suit on was fantastic. I love wearing that suit. No matter how warm or uncomfortable it gets. It’s the Superman suit. There’s no feeling like it. It’s a truly unique, special thing and I hope I get to do it for many more years. I’m really happy.

The guy deserves one more standalone at the very least. He's been such a pro over the last few years.

As I said before he's probably the most underpaid and has the most reason to gripe, yet it's well paid Oscar winners like Affleck and Leto that have cried about how hard done by they've been.

Three little bites to chew on in the current conditions:

First couple of images of Shazam have come online....i reserve judgement. Well....no I won't, they're a bit jarring. :] I can see the film being crucified unless it kills every single angle.

Cheetah is rumoured to be the WW2 villain. I hope the doctor that specialises in poison returms.

Early EARLY reactions to Aquaman are positive with particular praise for the horror sea monster element, Patrick Wilson and to my own surprise given how wooden she was in her JL cameo, Amber Heard.

The pictures, limited as they are, seem fine to me he’s not called ‘The Big Red Cheese’ for nothing. Also it will look different through a proper lens and colour grading.

Hadn’t realised Aquaman has Wilson in it. That’s really piqued my interest.

Totally agree. I constantly get the feeling there's a great Superman inside of him that he just needs the right chance to let out.

Ava DuVernay To Direct Jack Kirby Comic Creation ‘The New Gods’ For Warner Bros/DC
After making history as the first woman of color to helm a $100 million-plus live-action film in A Wrinkle In Time, Ava DuVernay will continue to play in the event film sandbox. She’s closing a deal with Warner Bros and DC to direct a big-budget screen adaptation of The New Gods, the creation of revered comic book impresario Jack Kirby. The studio has set Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks) as the writer; he’ll craft the narrative and work closely with DuVernay.

This will be another $100M-plus film for DuVernay, who has taken quite a leap in scale since her breakout film Selma. She unveiled a New Gods connection late last year when she responded to a question on social media on who her favorite superhero is. “Big Barda. Many reasons” was her reply. Big Barda is one of the New Gods and the wife of Mister Miracle, also a Kirby creation.

This is a bold move for Warner Bros/DC and not just because this is the second superhero franchise they’ve handed to a female director after Patty Jenkins turned Wonder Woman into a crowd-pleasing blockbuster and is working on the sequel with Gal Gadot. Unlike recent DC fare, this is a freestanding world created and designed by Kirby back in 1971, not long after the prolific comic legend had exited Marvel.

There is no connection to the other DC worlds being exploited for film right now by Warner Bros, where studio boss Toby Emmerich and his newly installed DC production president Walter Hamada are moving forward with new approach to filmmakers on their DC-based fare.

The New Gods was the Genesis of the uber-villain Darkseid. Also called “Fourth World,” the Kirby creation debuted in a trilogy of related comics written and drawn by Kirby that were published in the very early 1970s: New Gods, Forever People and Mister Miracle. The New Gods came into existence after the world of the gods of classic mythology were destroyed during Ragnarok. The deities inhabit two planets: one is New Genesis, a lush paradise, and the other Apokolips, which sounds like Dante’s version of hell. War ensues. There is a rich universe of extraordinary characters for DuVernay to play with here. This will be a fun one to follow.

DuVernay was well sought after so can only assume she agreed to the project because she felt it was broad enough to stamp her signature on. Will definitely watch with interest but in the same breath fully expect news she's walked away in 3 months time.

New Gods could be amazing...if done right.

For anyone who might be interested Tom King's current ongoing Mr Miracle will be a 12 issue run and is on issue 7. Don't need to know anything going in, and it is amazing!

    Spielberg to direct Blackhawk.

Steven Spielberg Tackling DC Comics Movie 'Blackhawk'
Frequent Spielberg collaborator David Koepp is writing the script.
Steven Spielberg is jumping into the world of DC Comics.

The iconic filmmaker is tackling his first DC Comics property, the World War II action-adventure hero Blackhawk.

Spielberg, along with his Amblin Entertainment, will produce Blackhawk for Warner Bros., and is developing it as a directing vehicle, the studio announced Tuesday. The move reteams him with the studio behind his latest tentpole, Ready Player One.

David Koepp, who has work with Spielberg writing blockbusters Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is writing the script.

The material seems tailor-made for the filmmaker behind the Indiana Jones movies. Blackhawk told of an international squadron of heroic pilots led by a man named Blackhawk who fought the Nazis and their ilk in World War II.

The series debuted in 1941’s Military Comics No. 1,published originally by Quality Comics before DC acquired the property in 1956. Co-created by comic book legend Will Eisner, along with Bob Powell and Chuck Cuidera, the comic was one of the biggest sellers in the 1940s.

Spielberg will produce the film together with Kristie Macosko Krieger, under the Amblin Entertainment banner, while former studio executive Sue Kroll will executive produce under her Kroll & Co. Entertainment shingle.

“We are so proud to be the studio behind Steven Spielberg’s latest hit, and are thrilled to be working with him again on this new action adventure,” said Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich. “We can’t wait to see what new ground he will break in introducing ‘Blackhawk’ to movie audiences worldwide.”

I'll be honest, I had to Google them to remind myself who the hell they are. DCs production decisions are more entertaining than the actual films. I'd love to know the thinning behind picking this above all the other, better! characters in the roster. Green Lantern for a start ..
