As for Quilty,I wouldn't like to be in those house's right on the seafront.

At least the wind might rid the smell of rotten eggs from the place.

She's a tanker and will be heading for Galway Harbour where she is a very frequent visitor. Big old tub and well able for a rough sea...

She is just off spanish point (10pm)- exposed as hell - dont think Galway Bay will be too helpful - if you go back to http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-9/centery:53/zoom:10 you'll see a few hiding/hugging on the east side of the Aran Islands - might be more protection there.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Latest run on the GFS would suggest still on the original track and still more or less the same intensity and duration.

Winder than your average named storm, and Clare's only on a yellow warning!

  • Registered Users Posts: 799 ✭✭✭CB19Kevo

Lights flickered 20mins ago in South east Kerry, getting wild out there now.
Been a while since a system has been this south so will be interesting to see how it plays out,So far the mean speeds have been as strong/stronger than the other storms this winter or at least in my view,Gusts have not been of note as of yet.

    https://www.esb.ie/esb-networks/powercheck/

For anyone who has a power cut, take a look at this website, you will get information about estimates for it's return.
Also try the phone app, handy when you don't have a computer, but absolutely terrible quality.

Mean wind speed has increased here now. Constant noise outside with occasional gusts that really shake the house. Still have power though so I'm off to bed in the hope that I'll sleep through the worst of it! ( earplugs if needed!) Will deal with whatever the morning brings. Look forward to reading about it all then :)

Blarney, Cork and all mysteriously quiet. I'm on a hill too. One or two gusts so far, lights flickered once. Interested to see how this plays out...thought wind would be howling by now?
