08.23. Nothing landing DUB. All arrivals in the holds. What's going on?

Listening to Tower, they are currently despatching departures off 10.

At the airport now myself. A flybe not on FR24 just landed with fire & rescue Jeeps in pursuit. No indication as to what the issue was.

I'm all for a bit of wind and go arounds etc but hurricanes? In Ireland? WTF?

Currently watching dl406 attempt to land at Shannon, brave brave pilot considering the wind here. Ironically it's the final flight of the summer season.

    Heading straight to DUB.

EI-DEG now leaving Cork as EI996, presumably bound for Dublin.

Flybe emergency landing, smoke in the flight deck

    Yep, sensible move

Strangely enough, the last flight of 2 years ago was also diverted to DUB, due to fog!

Long delays now at DUB, BA being advised of up to 20mins holding.

What mix do you guys want on the op's channel?
    It's currently marine frequencies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,170 ✭✭✭Mech1

Approach and tower would seem to be the obvious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,513 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Approach and tower is all I have interest in listening to, thanks Mech.

Currently 30kts gusting 41kts in DUB now.

All the Aer Lingus wide-bodies took off from runway 16 yet all the US widebodies took off from runway 10. Why was this?

U2168 BHX-BFS gone around at BFS RWY07, switching to RWY17.

What type were the US ones? Could be a combination of runway length and crosswind limits

Remember to reset your liveatc connection about every 30 min or you could get very delayed information.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,513 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Internet is getting quite dodgy here so it's doing it itself!

Getting windy in Dublin now, 33kts gusting to 52kts. Things flying around the apron apparently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,458 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

For east coast 16/34 are normally sufficient for A330, west coast is another game entirely

Real question will be EI145/7 to LAX/SFO which does need the length of 28.

Its straight down the runway so not a real problem currently, so zero crosswind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,513 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

That's the eye, strongest winds are east of the eye. It's happening as expected.

    Two A330s and a 767

Crosswind on Runway 10 was right on the limit for the Delta B764 - he said that 40Kt was maximum and it was gusting at times a little above that.
