Cheers, tons to mull over. Amazon is substantially cheaper, but wary of the third party sellers saying they're UK unlocked, but selling models from Dubai or areas of Eastern Europe.

Could also spin up to Newry and get it in Carphone Warehouse UK. Will wait til the end of the week and see if anything can change my mind in the mean time! ...Gear VR'd be nice too...

Please tell me you're joking? You put your phone into a rice bag because someone online joked that an Asian man would come along and fix it? :D

I am not sure if you know this, but the rice bag works anyway. Rice absorbs the moisture. (The Asian joke was tagged on afterwards, which is what makes it so funny).

There was a 41Mb update a few days ago and ever since my S7 keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi when the phone is asleep. It happens in work and at home so the router isn't the issue. As soon as I wake the phone it reconnects. The issue is I'm not getting messages etc now because the 4G doesn't kick in and they only come through when I wake the phone:/

    Anyone else experiencing this?

    Anyone? :(

Have tried using it with the battery saver off and still the Wi-Fi is disconnecting when the phone goes asleep. Incredibly annoying and having mobile data only on runs the risk of going over my limit :/

You could try toggling the WiFi sleep policy to 'never' and then back to 'always' and see if that makes the mode get set properly.

Does it happen with any WiFi connection? Do you have a 5GHz connection or 2.4?

Home is 2.4 but it happens in work too and has only started in the last week or so, I have the phone 5 months.

Will try toggle it on and off. Cheers

It's a widely known fact that putting wet phones into bags of rice and seeling it absorbs the moisture.

So I noticed that Smart Network Switching was off. I've turned it back on and it seems to have resolved the issue. I understand that smart network switching switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data and shouldn't cause any issues with Wi-Fi staying on but it seems to have resolved this issue anyway. I downloaded a 40Mb update last week and had made no changes to this myself, something to keep in mind if it happens to you!

    Thanks :)

I think I'd prefer to put it in a bag with some dessicant sachets.

In salt water....With a break in the seal....More than a day later.... Jesus himself couldn't resurrect that phone

I'm using it to type this. Everything is fine except micro usb charging, headphone jack and capacitive buttons. All in asking is to know what to say in the phone shop when I go in order to not be scammed.

If the ports and buttons are not working then the motherboard is damaged. The fact you can still type on it means it isn't completely destroyed. Unfortunately they are not repairable. you need a new motherboard.

    Hi All,

Set my s7 edge to update overnight and when I woke up this morning its stuck in safe mode! Tired to reboot holding down the volume button but it doesn't seem to work. Has this happened to anyone else or any suggestions to help?

    Thanks

Yes. I had to hold the power, volume and home buttons down simultaneously for a few seconds and then it re-booted.

It's literally working fine except for the 3 issues above. I'll go price motherboards so. I don't know how the seal is open on the back. I use a case all the time. Only for that I reckon it would have been grand under the water :(

Regarding my water damaged s7. Charging came back and so did capacitive buttons but headphone jack is still gone and my sound doesn't work now.

Bit weird. An icrigjt to guess that it's actually temporary water damage?

For now, change the device language to English US and clear the data of the Google App in your settings menu. Should be a UK English version soon though.

Do you need to download a US apk then or how do you use it?

I added English, US and removed English, Ireland.
went to apps, storage, cleared cache. manage storage, clear all data.

The next thing that happened was "Google now launder" appeared when I hit the home button.

Then I log held the home button and got the google assistant.

It removed all my shortcuts, but I don't mind too much

It was the same when I tried it. Update the Home app and repeating the steps worked for me.
    EDIT: update the Google app.
