    We had 2 lads on boards.ie start last year at 28 handicap. Both are playing off 22/21 now.

    Felt as though I improved last year from a ball striking and putting point of view but wasn't ever able to put any really good rounds together.

    Where to start... I've been told I should really be off something like 17/18, but I just couldn't score during my rookie season in golf last year, apart from late on in October where it all seemed to come together.

    Also, in general I prefer to set goals that are just about possible... and if I fall short then I can still be happy... Rather than set a more reachable goal and possibly getting it quite handy and taking the rest of the year to relax.

    Got cut from 18 at the start of this year but didn't get to play in as many comps as I'd wanted to. I've been playing for years but work meant that I've not really been able to commit enough time to golf over the last few years. I'm hoping that this is the year to actually play a lot and play in comps. Given what I knocked off last year I'm pretty confident that I can get lower this year and playing off singles has always been the target for me so hopefully this will be the year!

    Have you started building the trophy cabinet yet?

    In all fairness that's a ballsie target (Fair Play) you must be planning on devoting a lot of practice time?

    At 24.4 i'm guessing you struggle to break 100 most days and your targeting approx. 86 average for the year, that would be some achievement if you can do it !!

    Yeah, I was struggling a lot early in the year when I started but it was beginning to happen towards the end of the season... Took a few months for all of my game to come together. Had 3/4 consecutive rounds in the low 90s while still leaving plenty of shots out there during late October so that's where the optimism comes from. I feel there's room for improvement on those low 90 rounds for 5/6 shots if I work hard, so definitely ambitious but hopefully not out of reach. But I'm probably not practicing as much as I should be to get there.... :/

    Hope I'm not back here in a years time with my tail between my legs! :)

    Had a big drop from 14 to 9 last year but first baby is on the way due end of February so I doubt there'll be a whole lot of golf this year. Anyway I'd love to stay in single figures and maybe get down 7 but getting the practice and playing time in to get the consistency to get to there is going to be tough :)

    last year was the first with a handicap in over 10 years and the most golf I've played since my school days when I got to 9.5. Started on 12.5 last year and drifted up... got to 12.4 and finished back where I started. Ready to push on this year.
