04-01-2016 9:49am#1New Year, Fresh Start and a reminder of why we do this...
This is something we have done on boards.ie for the past 3 years and its a nice way to track your handicap progress.
All you need to do is post your username, 2015 starting handicap, 2015 goal, current exact handicap and the date you are posting your update.
Then as changes occur throughout the year post your update in the same format.
I will post a new table with updates to handicaps at the top of each new page.
It's also good for rivalry and railing if your close in handicap to other boards users, trying to get ahead of them, or not letting them get ahead of you
As GoldenJohn said in the last post of the 2013 thread, " Can we get a year end update of the table so i know what i have to do to get in the top 50 as part of my 2014 goals."
That's what its all about. Setting yourself targets for the year ahead and giving you something to aim for
Some stats from 2015
Of the 115 members who posted their details, 64 people achieved an overall reduction of their handicap, with 25 people bettering their handicap goal. When you consider that 42 of our members never posted an update at all, that's a fantastic achievement from the forum as a whole and this thread has to be a motivating factor in that
Of the 64 people who did achieve a reduction, the top 5 biggest losers by percentage of handicap lost were ::
5. TheAnalyst - 36.7% reduction in handicap
4. SolarStoned - 37.5% reduction in handicap
3. The_Premier_Man - 45% reduction in handicap
2. Tobello - 47.1% reduction in handicap
1. HarshOstrich - 52% reduction in handicap
He may not have missed his goal by the greatest margin, but for going in the complete opposite direction, Our Hall of Shame "winner" for this season goes to....

We had such great achievements from everyone this year, I failed miserably in my attempt to achieve my goal and I thoroughly deserve this!

For me :
I didnt make my goal for 2015 or get anywhere near it. Since I have had a baby this christmas, I'm going to set a much more modest target for myself

Thanks Rik for all your effort pulling this together again.
Didn't achieve my goal last year & finished 58th on the table. My wife is Due our first in February so not a clue what to expect golf wise for the year ahead.... but sure we might as well go for single digits

Have you started building the trophy cabinet yet?
In all fairness that's a ballsie target (Fair Play) you must be planning on devoting a lot of practice time?
At 24.4 i'm guessing you struggle to break 100 most days and your targeting approx. 86 average for the year, that would be some achievement if you can do it !!
Yeah, I was struggling a lot early in the year when I started but it was beginning to happen towards the end of the season... Took a few months for all of my game to come together. Had 3/4 consecutive rounds in the low 90s while still leaving plenty of shots out there during late October so that's where the optimism comes from. I feel there's room for improvement on those low 90 rounds for 5/6 shots if I work hard, so definitely ambitious but hopefully not out of reach. But I'm probably not practicing as much as I should be to get there....
Hope I'm not back here in a years time with my tail between my legs! 0 -
