Turns out it's an RF Remote Control and not infra red.
So can't use existing universal remotes.
The only good news is you don't have to point the remote at the TV.

Important note - most models of Sharp TV’s launched from August 2015 onwards use the very latest ‘RF’ technology as opposed to earlier models which use the previous technology called Infrared (IR).
    ...
This page will be updated as and when Sky launch new 'RF' technology remote controls.

Universal Codes – These codes will only work in ‘IR’ remotes. If your TV uses an ‘RF’ remote control it is not currently possible to use a universal remote control to operate it.

Just a question for anyone with this TV do you know how to manually set the time and date? I have it only connected to UPC/VM analogue and it doesn't seem to be receiving a time signal. The option to set the time appears to be greyed out in the time menu.
Try plugging in the network cable ?
Or perhaps leaving it on an analog channel that has teletext for a good while .

The remote is RF and not infra red.

2.4GHz using a SPRF24B31A chip so you can pretty much forget about third party remotes

    This is a weird one.

I'm not sure if it's the TV or the Humax Foxsat HDR but if you find you can change the volume from a connected satellite remote control on SD channels but not on HD channel ones then try turning Dolby off on the satellite box.

    Go figure.

    More on Dolby transmissions.
