I wonder if Ryan will ask him about his Irish roots.

"Dedicated his life to Gibsons and Suzuki 1000s"
I preferred the Suzuki 1000 twelve string acoustic myself.

"A stage is a stage" wrong answer there by Geldof. Its like he hasnt practiced for the show. Irish stages are the most special and Ireland is the best, I thinnk it kinda threw tubs for a minute, he didnt expect it

Tuning in now. Bob Geldof is on, does that mean Domhnall Gleeson is on later? Well the last two times Bob was on, Domhnall was there as well and he played Bob Geldof in that film about Live Aid

Well he hasn't really, his daughter was tough but Paula Yates was an ex-wife.
Plenty of people have had just as much grief in their lives.

The Boomtown Rats were just before my time, Bob was on his Ethiopa run when i was a toddler. But seriously, they had some amazing songs and they were class at the Picnic. That version wasn't great there, but seriously, they are a class live band.

He lost his mother when he was 12 I think.

    His mother.
His ex wife - who he was devastated when she left him.
    His daughter.

That's a bloody lot of grief for one man.

I love how honest and straight he is.

He is some speaker - was listening to Bono too recently , both amazing engaging people, the kind of stuff people love irish for.

Fair enough, had forgotten about his mother, that's tough alright.

He seems very philosophical about it though.

Id swear Bob wore the same jacket the last time he was on

    Same interview??

  • Registered Users Posts: 72,192 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

    Thread quiz (don't google)...

Which Boomtown Rats song was the first ever record played on 2fm?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,136 ✭✭✭PressRun

I would imagine losing one's child in similar circumstances to their mother is eerie and quite painful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,515 ✭✭✭zcorpian88

The quietness of the crowd, it's these moments on the Late Late, you know it's a good interview.

I think the best interviews sometimes is when the guest is just let talk. Bob seems a real humble guy.

Incredibly tragic the two of them. Heroin addiction. Scary.

Well just because you don't like a type of music/band, it does not mean they are rubbish.

For example Adele sold out today in 3 mins. I can't stand her music but appreciate she's very talented.
