Surprised to see Fennelly and Blanchfield on the bench with John Donnelly in the corner. Over all this selection does not inspire much confidence with no attempt at all to rectify what was an awful full back line performance against Dublin. Neither Holden Walsh or Deegan can honestly be happy with the way they played last day.  I hope they more than justify the confidence shown in them. At present and with the way they are playing our  full back line will suffer grievously at the hands of a Galway or fully fit Tipperary full forward line down the road.

Good win for the minors today but the pulling and dragging off the ball on ciarain brennan was disgraceful no doubt that came from Wexford management which is ridiculous at minor level

So what full-back line would you have picked? Honest question.

It's a poor sign that minor hurlers in Wexford are being encouraged to act like that, the guy on Brennan
Was striking him on the helmet before every puckout. The full back was the same and the half back got a yellow for his off the ball antics

Definitely seemed to be a tactic for Wexford. Linesmen and umpires should be bringing that to the attention of the referee.

Wexford had a strong wind in the first half, decided to play with a sweeper and manhandled and gave the Kilkenny forwards plenty of it for 20 mins. The KK players got on with it and from 0-9 to 0-6 down after 20 mins, outscored their opponents 3-15 to 1-3 for the last 40 mins. A sweeper at U17.... Crazy, so much for development

Write up on the 1968 league final...interesting stuff, had heard a bit about this but didn't know about all the fallout afterwards...

Was at the 65-66 home final

    Kilkenny
    0-9 - 0-7
    Tipperary

Kilkenny's defeat of Tipperary in the league decider is their first defeat of Tipperary in a national final since the 1922 All-Ireland final.

    That, I think, was the game that finally broke Tipps dominance. Just check out results from then until today;

KK 15 National Leagues and 21 All Irelands

Tipp 7 National Leagues and 6 All Irelands

    My first All Ireland attached

    That's great.

I seem to remember that he played with Na Faughs here in Dublin. Do not think to many KK played outside the county but not sure, its a while ago.

Crazy stuff alright playing sweeper at minor(maybe dictated by senior management as they play with a sweeper)as for ourselves today a win no injuries and liok forward to galway would be ideal.

Bit of a nothing game that. Never a danger of losing it and plenty of eyes on next week. Full forward line played well and nice to see Blanchfield play well again although he really should've had 4 goals.

Other than that I'd read nothing into the game.

Kilkenny were dreadful in the second half, no urgency. Should have won by 20 points. The only lads that could be satisfied with their performance were Padraig Walsh, Paul Murphy, Conor Delaney and Luke Scanlon. Could come back to haunt Kilkenny if score difference comes into play. Not that it made much difference but the ref was very poor.

Adrian Ronan gave man of the match to Liam Blanchfield

Yeah, from what he was saying his work rate got him the award.

There again half the time Ronan doesn't seem to have a clue who is in the ball or doing things, so you would never know

Opened up a 9 point lead early in the 2nd half. Empty the bench and eased off with an eye on next week. Got caught for a goal because of a super handpass by Dooley. Lead down to 3 for a couple of minutes and then opened it back up to 9. Tough game last week and a massive game next week. Today was about getting through without doing any damage.

Desperate game , hard to take much from it other than this full backline will be destroyed in croke park

If Wexford, Kilkenny and Galway win their home matches and Wexford beat Offaly, you would have three teams with three wins. Kilkenny could lose a Leinster Final place on goal difference.

Is head to head difference then scoring difference?im not sure to be honest.
Just on the match today we drove something like 21 wides and missed a few really good goal chances. If we had converted half the chances we created things would obviously be different.we were very comfortable only for a few mins in the 2nd half when we thought we had it won.
Hopefully wally and maher will be back next week we might see richie but we seen today with some of the tipp lads who were out its very hard turn it on like a light.
Today was all bout the result its done now and we turn to galway and when this draw was made this was always going to be the big one. We've a week off after the galway so im hoping we'll get a big performance.
Positives from today were these young lads are improving Scanlon, delaney, donnelly and blanchfield is finding a bit of form.Ger aylward will hopefully get a few scores to kick start his summer he looks to be trying too hard and things arent coming off.

Head to Head only applies if two teams are level. In the scenario above with 3 teams level on points then it goes to scoring difference

Head to head if two teams are level on points, points difference if more than two teams so there is a very strong chance that it will come into play.
Ger Aylward hasn't played much over the last two years and lack of matches is affecting him. Joey Holden had a very good league but seems to be struggling with confidence at the moment. He should be told to hit the ball long and not to hold onto the ball. If Enda Morrissey comes back next week, Joey might not make the team. Blanchfield got 1-2 today, got fouled for another couple but could have got another three goals. Richie Leahy is another whose end product could have been better. I think I would go for Keoghan, TJ, Donnelly, Blanchfield, Wally and Scanlon to start in the forwards the next day

I like Joey but he seems to panic on the ball, maybe he's aware of all the criticism. Conor Browne came on an looked very comfortable on the ball compared to joey. Blanch had a great game and put in a fair shift. Conor Delaney a quiet chap but doing exactly what's needed, himself Buckley and Padraig would make some half back line

Hardly fair to compare Conor Browne playing midfield and Joey playing corner back. You drop a ball in the middle nobody bats an eyelid but Joey drops it and the entire crowd has a **** attack.

We can't have it both ways as supporters. We either lash it long and fall into the habits of the last few years of playing aimless ball or we trust our hurlers like Joey to build the play through the lines before delivering the ball around a sweeper. Personally the former is proven as not working so I'll take my chances with the latter aware of the fact that mistakes will be made along the way.

We took a few games to get going in the league and after the break the same is happening now.

Agree to a certain extent but everytime joey has the ball you feel like he will fumble it or drop it or else his touch will let him down. With our new style of play we need backs who are comfortable in possession and joey is not would like to see Enda morrissey corner back he is calm with the ball and is a tight marker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,540 ✭✭✭Comerman

I only compared Browne because he started normally at half back and maybe push Murphy back to corner back. But I do take your point and as I said I like Joey but he seems to be a bit nervous at times for some reason

    Missed the match yesterday.

Anyone give an accurate report on who played well ?

How did the midfielders do ?

John Donnelly looked good on the Sunday Game.

How did Deegan & Holden do ?

    Richie Leahy ?

Did Buckley improve from last week?
