    Liked your 5008 review........

    +1 :pac:

Except you never told us about the grip control so that the yoke doesn't go from two wheel drive to zero wheel drive when the going gets slippy :)
(dunno did the 5008 you had have it though to be fair)

Leaf is for review/podcast, not thinking of buying one. :)

That one didn't have it but the guys are keen for me to try the 3008 and the one they want to give me does have it.

Thanks for the feedback lads, anything you think is missing from them maybe? Still only learning both reviewing and the software so a steep curve.

Your reviews are very real world, cost, mpg, showing interior space & features etc.

What folk purchasing want to know.

Top class imo..... I wouldn't stray too far from what you are doing currently as you evolve/enhance them

I think unless you go up a really mucky, gravelly, slippy little road or go greenlaning ish you won't notice anything. I did maybe 600 miles in a 5008 that had it and I didn't notice any benefit on road :)

What's this grip thing these cars have? I know someone recently bought a 3008 gt. They mentioned the salesman said although it was 2wd it had some sort of snazzy traction system. I took it as marketing mumbo jumbo and it was still just a 2wd suv type thing.

We're you driving the leaf today Mark? Pretty sure I saw you, looks lovely in the flesh

So in normal front wheel drive open dif when one wheel is in mud or ice & slips not much torque is required to spin that wheel & only that torque is then sent to the wheel on the sounder surface that actually has grip. That torque is usually not enough to pull the car so your two wheel drive has become zero wheel drive :)

The grip control thing in equipped Peugeot's sends as much torque as possible to the wheel not spinning and I think also doesn't limit torque to the slipping one too much either. It's not always in actually now that I think of it. There's a selector dial .... so when pootling about normally everything is as per normal 2wd open dif. Think it only can turn on in low gears too.

Do you have a review done in your 640d from when you had it Mark? Would be an interesting one to see and compare ya to Bob Flavin :pac:

Ha! Well Bob loved the 640d, can’t really argue with him. I wasn’t doing them when I sold it so I didn’t actually do one, pity.

What about the Kia Stinger Mark? There are a few Kia Ireland petrol ones in dealers here, worth a detailed review and drive of course?

It's electronically controlled..... there's no LSD or anything. Do the actual intricacies of how it works.... not a clue really.

Just sounds like tech that I thought is in most cars where the wheel that slips has the brake applied to it to transfer the torque across the open diff to the wheel with grip. I'm not sure what it does differently, hence was I was a but dismissive of it as it just sounds like a win by the marketing team to me.

A mate has been trying to get me into one. Also trying my best to get an Alfa Giulia 280bhp.

I reckon it's more than that as its selectable (not always on) & has different modes, mud .... snow....maybe more, sand etc. And I don't think it brakes the spinning wheel like in the most cars scenario you mention.

I enjoy the reviews so I subbed. Probably one of the best in Ireland already but that’s not saying much, ha.

Not directed at you but at the whole of YouTube..I’m not turning on notifications for any fu**er.

    Mark
Are you still looking for a car for yourself or are you leaving it?
It seems you don’t really need one with the reviews you are doing.
Are you getting cars through dealers or distributors?
The one thing I see is that Irish reviews generally don’t slate a car as I presume they want to get more loaners in the future.
I like the reviews that the lady on CarsIreland.ie does and actually prefer them to bob flavin’s musings these days where he says little of interest about the actual car.
Would be good if you could do an Irish market specific comparison test taking pricing depreciation into account say Audi A6 vs Mercedes e class vs Bmw 5 series or Ford Focus vs vw golf etc.

A mix of dealers and distributors/PR companies.

I do still want to get something as while I could probably make do with cycling to work when I don’t have a loaner, I enjoy having something a bit special.

As an aside, my insurance is up in October and as it stands I won’t be renewing as I don’t have anything to insure. I’m named on the wife’s car. Your NCB only lasts two years or it will expire so that’s a factor too, I don’t want to lose that. If I picked up a cheap 5dr GTI until I know what I want, it’d be no harm.

Like the idea of best all rounder in the Golf segment, the new Focus looks really good. I’m trying to get into Audi through contacts, BMW are fussy enough in terms of viewer numbers/readership for lending cars but I have been at a couple of their events so hopefully I’ll get something down the road, especially considering how many of the things I’ve bought :)

The more YouTube views I can rack up, the better although for other social media I’d have more followers than the majority of proper car journos but YouTube seems to be the benchmark.

You’d have to change the registered owner of the car though wouldn’t you?
