That's the way it was for my car, someone on here told me about checking the VIN for options and there were loads of things not mentioned in the ad
    --

Was it on here lately it was discussed how to get higher quality audio into a bmw? It was bothering me as well and yesterday I discovered just turning the volume adjustment down on the phone made the audio quality 10x better.

I went messing with bluetooth streaming codecs in developer options on my android phone but they all reset after I'd gone back into the menu after changing them so it's definitely just having the volume set about 70% on the phone (before it goes to red audio level as you are adjusting)

Went a bit down the path of putting FLACs on a usb stick and compared to bluetooth streaming with the volume max it was night and day but now I'll be going back to spotify over bluetooth

Does yours have Harmon Kardon? If so, ensure that Logic7 is enabled. Also, changing the equalizer settings helps massively. What I do is have a song with good bass on (Prodigy's Poison or Breathe) and go from lowest to highest on each of the bands on the equalizer. When you've finished once, do it again and see how it sounds.

yep I have H&K I have never gone into the sound settings at all so I'll have a look for that option thanks

haven't really gone through many of the settings actually now that I think about it. Still have the trip to the ferry in recent destinations... Tried to get the spotify app working through idrive so I could scroll through and choose them from there but it just tells me to install the bmw app on my phone. I already have it and can remotely unlock and ventilate etc as well as send directions to sat nav its just the external apps aren't working (I've the external apps option in the idrive and all the connected drive options so it should work.

seems from looking online it's a bmw and android issue and it never worked nicely except for random combinations of phones so not the end of the world if it won't. Button on the wheel on a long press starts ok google and that's fairly good for choosing songs on spotify anyway

Often times you have to unpair your phone and pair it again. It's a bug in the BMW system.

I only set up my phone for BT audio a few days ago and it's working great.

Mine had manual seats as do 90% of F30s. The only electric part was the seat bolsters.

You'd be hard pushed to find an F30 330d with full electric seats let alone with lumbar also.

Have almost fully electric on my Feb '16 330e, but missing lumbar support, despite having the air adjustable side bolsters. I've long though about putting in an another air cushion and connecting to the same air line but not got around to it yet.

Can you actually see the Spotify app on the iDrive at all? According to something I read online, it was patch anyway so I never actually paid the yearly sub in case it's not actually available to 2016 cars with ID4.

Mine has run out of the ConnectedDrive subscription according to an email I got, but I never had the online apps or traffic anyway.

I can still see charging, GPS location etc, so i'm not sure what I'm now missing.

it was hard to find good spec F30 when I was looking for my 335d last year I had adaptive suspension on the wish list which ruled out a lot of cars.

those two cars are missing H&K that would be a big deal I think. As well as the extended storage (netting in the boot and the cubby under light controls to the right of the steering wheel), and folding rear seats. both missing the bigger brakes and can't see reversing camera in either of those. Small things but the folding rear headrests alone give a much better view out the back and the storage up front means the cup holders don't become fuel receipt holders.

Only one I saw for sale with electric seats I think was vintagevrs's F31 330d. Must have been a very rare option as even the ones I was looking at in england with HUD and other options that couldn't be found here for sale didn't have electric seats.

I have manual seats with electric bolster and the electric air pump for lumbar, didn't know that was an option but I use it fairly often. Mine aren't heated though basically the only bad decision by the original owner
I had a 132 330d and it had fully electric seats. Had a couple of 4s with it aswell, definitely not the most common option.

Agree re comments on HK above, doesn't sound great on stock settings but a few tweaks makes a big difference.

I can't see any apps under additional apps but I think they will show up when a phones connected.spotify ended their support for it a while ago anyway so you have to keep an older version of spotify installed. The more I read about it the worse it gets. It's either my phone is blocking it or the car isn't pairing with it right over usb anyway, I get a split second of allow / Deny on the phone which I never get to press and it swaps into the bmw app immediately. I might uninstall it then see if I get a chance to hit allow then reinstall.

I can still get its location and lock/unlock or start ventilation remotely or flash lights etc. Never used it except to try it out. I think it has 10 years of this level of remote stuff but I can't get the news or whatever else those other apps do when you pay yearly. concierge etc all useless to me so no loss. Probably the same as what you're talking about

going to try out reinstalling the app anyway one thing I am missing is I can't see fuel range from my phone which might be there if I pair it properly. Again not that it matters but if it could be working why not

Fully electric seats, for me were a waste of time as she never drives the car. Then the odd time I would want to move the seat back or forward when cleaning it, it was more of an inconvenience. A shared car with a key for each driver it makes a lot of sense.

with manual you are explaining to a passenger where the adjustor is for the seat to move forward and they get whacked in the head by the trebuchet spring loaded seat back when they pull the wrong lever

I share our Jeep with the wife. Memory seats make life very easy. Our keys also are memory so AC settings etc are assigned to the key.

That said, her 4 series we also semi share and we manage as we both like the upright and height the same so it's only a case of moving the seat forward and back manually.

If you were to change the runflats on a 530e to normal tyres is anything needed other than the new tyres like suspension adjustment etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,447 ✭✭✭Wailin

    No, nothing else needed.

Thanks, someone I know was told it would be a few grand on top of the tyres, I said it must be bull**** and sounds like it was.

Very nice looking M340i, these are so rare here that I can't see it hanging around too long

That's a great find hooch, a manual 340i is a rare car here. Nice colour combo and spec too. Has the upgraded M Performance exhaust also.

Yep and I know the zf would be more desirable to most people but there's something special about a manual shift when you have the power to go with it. Price seems decent too, around what you'd pay for a 140i of the same year.

I keep going back to that ad....

There was a manual 340i for sale in the UK a while back when I was looking, similar spec but that's an Irish car. I think the manual adds to it. Cliche but that's one of the last of that type of that car. A rear diff swap in it and it's basically a 4 door M3 for Irish roads/tax.

Not bad looking, is it 360bhp or 326 though? The ad mentions both figures.

It's actually 322hp (326 PS). It has the m performance exhaust so may also have the power upgrade fitted by BMW to bring it to 360hp.

Edit: Ad states it does so yes, 360hp.

Beautiful car. Tanzanite looks amazing when clean and polished. Surprisingly it’s an Irish car too.
Personally wouldn’t want manual but that will probably make it more attractive to many.
One year warranty is good too.
I agree that it’ll sell quickly enough.

I can't see it but if it's a guessing game I'll go Volkswagen Touareg R based on your description.

@MarkN - if you take this part of your link:

And use it with the 'Insert Media' option it should display it correctly. P.S. This is on the desktop site, haven't checked it on mobile.

Off topic, I've reframed from commenting about the revamp of boards.ie because I appreciated its free but by jesus it really sucks so badly now. The front end is totally counter intuitive now, desktop site is as bad as the mobile site.

I "second that emotion". This new set up its impossible to find anything. IMO they have taken something that was simple and easy to navigate and worked fine and they have complicated it totally. Also I am reluctant to criticise them but I fear they will lose a lot of regular contributors, unless they simplify the platform.
