Yeah when I dropped the car off the fella I was dealing with said he hoped to keep the car for his own stock rather than let BMW have it. So it seems that even though they’re all the one company, there’s a bit of inter competition between them.

Sales targets are sales targets, why let anyone else even, if they are in your group, take one of your sales.

If BMW get it they put more money into it. It gets their full “checkup”, and the AUC warranty, etc. Hence the premium.
On Zucars forecourt, it’s no frills. It might get a lick of tyre shine and an 6 month warranty.

What are you going to replace it with?

Nothing for the moment. Been WFH’ing for months and that’s not going to change for a while to come. I’ll take my time and probably wait till the new year to pick something. I’d like to get back to a nice hot hatch.

I sold my 4 series yesterday to Zucar.ie. I'd really recommend these guys if any of you are in the same boat and need to offload something that's relatively high value and don't want the aggravation of trying to sell it on your own. Completely simple and painless experience. They settled the outstanding finance and paid me the balance direct to my account.

For anyone who's on the lookout for a nice 4 series, they have it advertised already and its well priced, you can be sure the BMW main dealers would have it up around 33-34k - obviously a BMW dealer would be putting a full warranty on it but 3-4k is a lot to pay for a Bmw warranty.

Well that didn't hang around or maybe they did send it another garage in the group

The 430d you were looking at Bazz has gone POA and deposit taken it says.
I am guessing you did the deal.
I bet Joe’s car will reappear on a BMW forecourt with a price hike.

    Wouldn't surprise me.

I can still see that its parked in the same spot anyway in the Connected app :pac:

I remember when I traded in my 330e, I was able to see where the new owner lived a few weeks later from where the car was parked every night.

I am amazed they didn't send your car to Joe Duffy BMW to retail it as approved used stock to be honest.
A nice spec and low mileage it would have made sense.
Did you get any prices from other we buy your car types?

I reckon carsfan2 is bang on the money with his thoughts ....... they'll be putting their BMW Approved used warranty on it without much risk :)
It will be interesting to see premium they attach.

Well I've been away for a few days but I pulled the trigger and collected it today:

    20200918-184835.jpg

Will get better photos when I have more time. Certainly a different feeling to what I was used to in the F10. Suspension is much harder that the F10 in Sport mode but the handling is much more sharp.

Well wear bazz. Does it have the adaptive suspension?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,610 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Thanks Wailin, good question. When in comfort mode I can certainly feel a difference in the suspension to when in Sport mode. Idrive allows me to adjust between drive strain and chassis or both in Sport mode but I think that's standard on all F3x models. I stuck my VIN into bimmer works and it tells me I have the adaptive M Sport suspension so still not sure..

Edit: M Sport adaptive suspension BMW options code - 2VF, google seems to confirm this is indeed Adaptive Damper Control.

    Well wear Bazz.
    A beautiful looking car.
Black grilles already fitted I see or did it come that way?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,610 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Already came with it. Not sure if it's OEM but the quality looks good compared to some of the ebay ones you see about.

One thing that's bugging me now is that the only usb port in the car is in the front arm rest. No usb or 12v port in the dashboard or even glovebox. Apparently BMW only fitted a second usb port if you specced ireless charging which this car doesn't have. So I have to figure out how I'm going to be able to power my dashcam.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

Your headunit has an extra socket at the back where they plug the extra one into when specced from factory. All you need is the cable and you can put it in the glove box. There is also a hidden 12v under your glove box if that's any use?

    Enjoy the new wheels.

Edit, if it's just for a dash cam use the 12v under the glovebox.

That's a nice extra to have on it, the garage ad didn't have that listed so obviously knew nothing about it. It was on the 440i i test drove and something I'd definitely want. Great to be able to adjust the shock stiffness to your driving needs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Leonard Hofstadter

Well wear and best of luck with it. Not only does the options list back it up, but the suspension looks the same height as an SE, which is another clue it's got the adaptive suspension (if you tick the adaptive suspension option you get the same suspension and ride height regardless of trim level).

    Is it a 430d?

Yes, the sales guy knows a bit about cars but wouldn't be a BMW head. I didn't spot it either until the drive home and then checking the VIN online and options code. Still has a service pack on it too so double bonus.

Thanks LH. Yes it's a 430d. You are a bit more eagle eyed than me as I didn't notice it had the adaptive dampers by looking at the suspension height. The cabin is not as quiet as the F10 but it has sharper handling so it balances itself out.

That’s a beautiful car but I would only go for the 3.0 286bhp version if changing to one.
The 2.0 is not on official sale here it’s a U.K. offering only. There’s a few around for sale on Ireland imported by garages.
I have kinda gone off it to be honest as watched a few reviews this week and looks aside, nobody raves about the car. The engine gearbox combo is not good with with a lot of lag between throttle and the car responding.

If the car is new an Irish customer would be liable for vat at 23% as well as whatever revenue decide they want to charge for VRT. Do any of you know if you can, or how easy it is to reclaim or not pay the UK vat on a new import? I did read up on this recently but it wasn't clear if it was even possible.

You actually can buy a new car in the UK vat free if you declare it’s going to be exported, form 411 is used and the dealer will take 20% vat off that price.

If you don’t use this form and export to Ireland VAT paid I believe it is possible to reclaim the vat but the process is a mystery

VAT is 21% rather than 23% too now

VRT is coming up at 11k. Using quick calculator think you’d have it landed for 59k.Not bad if your were shopping for a new one here

It's true that you can buy VAT free if you go brand new in the UK once you tell them it's for export, however if you're buying even nearly new that won't be an option. Imports less than six months or with less than 6,000 km on the clock are liable for VAT here on top of VRT.

Seen a 202 RS7 in silver during the week, looked beautiful. Still plenty of money around by the looks of it. €150k plus right there!

Incorrect. You can also buy any new means of transport in the UK vat free for export using form 411

Beautiful car Bazz , and colour ,what bhp are they making ?

i had one for a week but felt it very giddy at the rear always spinning tyres from junctions and felt it needed the x drive set up albeit not as sharp as rwd version.
Be interesting to know what you think over time.

They are 258bhp. Xdrive adds a good bit of weight to them and I'd say you were probably used to the awd grip of the Golf R.
