    Beautiful a6. I've a black s line a6 c7 and it's perfect but I've had a hankering for a c8 since the first time I saw it.

    286bhp.

What about the Jaguar XE prestige 2liter diesel, only seen a few nices jags on the road that stand out .
Will be looking at around 2016 - 2017

My own car is in for service and EGR recall with BMW and they gave me this 218i gran coupe.

First time driving the newer generation stuff, coming from an f generation 3 series.

This one is fwd and I defo noticed it when accelerating onto roundabouts or exiting junctions, you just get that pull rather than push sensation, not that it's a bad thing for day to day.

It's 140bhp and feels pretty gutless and you can't really hear the engine at all, which again is probably what they want. I'm sure the 235i wakes it up.

I found driving it a distracting enough experience as there is a decent amount going on, between touchscreens, scroll wheels and digital dash. Not a fan at all of lane assistance, first time driving a car with one. Few times I had to fight it as I didn't indicate (typical BMW driver, nobody around :) ).

Have you had much interest in the car since you put it up for sale?

I wouldn’t consider the jag myself.
Interior is small and low quality and the ingenium Diesel engine is pretty unrefined and thirsty apparently.

2 people have made contact about it. One asking about the timing chain which threw me a bit as far as I knew it's not something that needs attention on the 6 cylinder models, but no one viewed it yet.

The interior looks great especially with the red leather. It’s a hideous looking car though.

There were claims of 70mpg on a 2018 e class somewhere on the forum last week too. Just so happens I took my bosses 2017 e220d to Belfast yesterday for work and got just under 49mpg.
I don't know where people are getting these crazy figures from.

Claimed economy 68mpg, actual 38mpg, lol, how do they get away with this stuff!

That's pretty good now, although a long way off the claimed figures but they're all at it.

How did you find the E220d?

Edit: 2017 is the older model yes?

A friend is looking for a 2015+ euro 6 330D in the UK. Is there much of a difference in the LCI update?
His must haves are electric seats, adaptive lighting and HUD and the wider display screen, not sure of the BMW term for that though.
Are any of these particularly rare options?
I’ll admit I know nothing about BMWs so this seemed like a good spot to ask.

    No, it's the current model.
Yeah I liked it, mostly a motorway cruise between Dublin and Belfast which is a drive I like to do, I do it once a month in my own 2014 A6 and have done in various cars I've owned for years.
I wouldn't say it was any better or any worse than my A6 or indeed the f10 530d I had. Before that I was in petrol cars, a variety of 5 series and the diesel consumption is obviously far better.

The merc isnt a sports model though whereas the BMW and audi were s-line and msport so I suppose technically the suspension is a bit softer but on good roads notice no difference.

Tech is good, one thing I don't have on my own that was noticeable is the radar cruise control which is probably something I'd look for in the future.

How's the 540 now you've had it a little while?

The LCI 3 Series got higher quality materials on the inside and switched to LED front and rear lights.

Some of those options are rare enough especially the HUD and adaptive headlights, on anything less than a well speced 335d or 340i. Your friend would have a better chance of finding some of those options on a 430d Gran Coupe as the 4 Series is generally better equipped than the equivalent 3 Series. Electric memory seats and wider pro nav screen were standard on the 6 cylinder 4 Series but optional on most 3 Series.

How's the 540 now you've had it a little while?

Yeah it's great and I'm enjoying it. I love the freshness of it compared to my old 535d f10. There are some aspects of that car that I miss but overall, the g30 is a vast improvement in most areas.

I test drove a very heavily specced 530e and it was a beaut, very impressed with g30 interior which I just wasn't with the f10. Unfortunately I couldn't make the numbers work anywhere on a trade in with my a6 so I'm going to wait until its cheap enough to sell privately and then go in as cash buyer. It will either be a g30 or a new model a6. The Audi just has the edge in the interior in my opinion but it will be one or the other.

They're both ahead of the merc you asked me about earlier (again, in my opinion as I'm sure plenty of people will prefer the merc which is fair enough)

Lads, contemplating moving up a couple of years to another 530d (G30). Would I be mad given the market here for large diesel engines is shrinking even further than it was. Any guesses how much it would roughly cost to go from a 2015 F10 530d M Sport to say a 2017 530d M Sport xDrive? Dealers here seem to be still looking for high 30s or low 40s for them even at 3 years old which seems mad given what they offer for 5 year old ones.

Not interested in the 530e as plugging it in isn't an option for me as installing a home charger is going to be an awkward and expensive job on my house and most petrol G30s are uninteresting 520i. A G20 330i is another option but again there is poor value here so would need to import. Also considered a more fun car to chuck into corners like a Golf GTi or Seat Leon Cupra but they just draw the wrong sort of attention.

€15/17k I'd imagine if doing so in the 26 counties.

This is the G30 that caught my eye, similar spec to my F10 minus the sunroof but gains adaptive headlights and HUD as well as xDrive:

    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=2581617&r=s.php%3Fm%5B%5D%3D10%26o%5B%5D%3D87%26f%3D2%26nn%3D22%26yn%3D2017%26yx%3D2017%26pp%3D50%26g%3D0

42k seems expensive to me though and near main BMW dealer money.

I was quoted 14k on the button for my 2014 A6 s line (50,000 miles) by loads and loads of dealers, all after consulting a computer and they were generally looking at something like 25k cost to change to go to a 2017 g30, mainly 530e I looked at. For your f10 530d I'm going to say they're still going to want the guts of the same figure to go to a g30 530d x drive. Bit less maybe so somewhere between 20-22k.
I paid 20000 for my a6 in Christmas week at end of 2018 and I think I got a pretty good deal at that so personally, I'm waiting for stuff I like to come into that price bracket again maybe up to 25-26k....BMW G30 and audi a6 c8.
I'm looking to come up 3 years with a cost to change of about 12-15k, buy at 4 to 5 years old, keep for 3 years and repeat process. So I'll be waiting a bit longer.

Golf and Leon would be more palatable price wise but I think you'd be back looking at 5 series very soon after novelty wears off of chucking them into corners.

I would look into the 3 series though and it's possible I will make that move myself. Before the Audi I had a 2006 e60 523i and I test drove a 330e 2016 and way preferred my much older 5 series so didn't buy in the end. Hard to step back a class to be honest.

Nice car. Yeah at 42k you're defo going to be well in the 20s to change. But you might get a nice surprise with your trade in if timing is right. Doubt it, but give them a shout and see what happens.

My rule of thumb is that car should be half its original price and yours should be half that again, if its in that ballpark you might be getting half decent value. But when you're playing in this premium segment its a lot of cash, regardless of percentages

Hard to give up the comfort and luxury you become used to alright but I wouldn't pay 20k+ just to go up 2 years to be honest, newer model or not.

I wouldn't blame you. But it's a 70k+ car when new and they're going to lose than 70k more or less in full over 10 years. When you think about it, 20k between years 3 and 5 is about where its at unfortunately.

Not at all what you want to do but knocking another 12/24 months out of your own wouldn't be the worst idea ........ whatever numbers you are offered now for a 2015 won't be bettered in two years time if you are trying to get out of a 2017 530d.

Many folk are still likely to be working from home to an extent, tax on diesels won't be reducing and there will be more EV options about. I bought a new ish diesel 2 years ago but I can't see it being replaced with a diesel tbh the way things are going.

As you say, 20k to go up two years is fairly unpalatable.
