@carsfan, here is what you need to upgrade to
    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202007301898906

Ran the VRT on it and came back at around €18.5k!! I don't think it would end there though as that car has an insane amount of very expensive extras on it, priced up a similar spec new model and it came to €125k!! so you could be talking about another €10k of VRT on it if the revenue dived into the spec on it

Revenue would have a field day with the extras on that. That's the first 5 Series I've seen this side of the Atlantic with cooled seats.

Absolute beauty of a 540 there. I test drove a claimed £80k 530e before the corona earlier in the year, really nice place to be.

I think one of the nicest colours in the F30 is the red with then alloys. If I was in the market for one right now that one would be the first one id view.

Very nice. We had a 1 series in Melbourne red and it was lovely.
I think the orange available on the 1 and 3 is stunning.

Not surprised. I got offered 16k for my 5 year old 530d a few weeks back by one of those we buy cars crowds.....

With wfh & the green carry on the market for 5 year old high powered diesels is shrinking by the month..... Add in covid unemployment/economic instability.

Traders will be likely having that sort of car sitting in their yard for longer then they'd like.

And of course however poor the warranty they offer is that has to be priced in also.

That's a smashing looking example with a nice spec.

Anyone know if the black panel display dial can be set to km/h or will the dial always show the mph scale?

It can on the 5/7 series so I'd assume it can be done on these also.

Why less? It's in the higher co2 band meaning 30% of omsp Vs 27% plus more road tax annually too.

Why less? €22000 to buy, before discount and vrt is €7500., equals €29,500. Seems less than €34,000 to me.

Anyway, just offering up alternatives that I see online. It's not a big deal. You don't have to buy it.

Think crossed wires. I was chatting about this one, not the Irish one which is less to buy and less vrt than the manual one in the north.

Ah, apologies so, it was in response to your post about checking out the Irish reg one where you were offered 14k for your own.

Something for long commutes, comfortable and good on diesel,

My Volkswagen has served well, I like Volkswagen so thought of the CC and golf .

But thought of something different so not sure about bmw 320 or 520 leading towards a 520d between the two bmws

    Stretch to a 330d or a 530d?
Might as well if you are doing long commutes IMO.

Having changed from a CC to a Golf myself, the CC is far better for long commutes. I’m sure the Golf is great for people coming from a smaller car but after changing from a CC to a Golf I realised how smooth the CC was on the motorway. Overall I rather the Golf but the CC definitely takes it for long commutes. I don’t think it was ever available with radar cruise control tho whereas its standard on the mid spec Golfs

As some of you know I'm thinking of getting moving to the green pumps again. Think realistically I would need to sell my own privately first though. I had it up before and maybe was asking too much, or maybe it's one of those cars that have a limited market and I just need to be more patient.

I hate these how much is my car worth posts, but, how much do ye reckon is fair on a private sale?

    Standard unmodified M Sport model.

M performance pack, Harmon Kardon sound system, bigger brakes (370mm), Pro nav with BMW online connected drive and concierge services, on board hard drive, BMW apps. Electric memory seats. Auto folding and dimming mirrors. Electric tailgate. M Performance splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. This is OEM kit, not replica.

    Ambient light package.

    Front and rear parking sensors.

Bi-xenon headlights with LED M-Perfromance taillights from LCI model. These are BMW OEM lights and not aftermarket with receipt.

2 keys and all original paper work and receipts in folder.

Car has Michelin PS4s fitted all round but rears will need replacing shortly. Could also do with a wheel refurb due to some white worm.

    It's a 141 330d xdrive with 163k km.

A 520d is hard to beat for the above but they are all good cars. Try have a drive in all four and then decide.

Don’t know what’s its worth but it’s a beautiful looking example, the mods looks really well on it.

330xd must be almost perfect for country roads

Thank you. Yeah you're right, it's very capable of covering ground in rural parts of the country and soaking up the rough stuff. Great at putting the power down out of corners also.

18k private sale? I dunno. The second hand market is strange at the minute, get someone looking for that exact car and you're sorted. Otherwise prepare to swallow your pride, take an offer below what you think it's worth, and then import something nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,287 ✭✭✭digiman

I would think something like ~18-19k would be fair. No other examples like that here, UK ones seem to be around the 14-16k sterling mark. Estates usually do better in resale values.

    Lovely car

Yeah I’d say the torque is great on climbs too. Is it standard or have you done engine mods?

I’d recommend either way trying your luck selling it on a BMW or German forum. You will get a lot of interest from a select few that know their cars

Had the very same problem with the 535d, a 141 with 130k km. Started off at 25k which i felt it was worth at the time when there were lesser spec models going for 27k.

Ended up swallowing my pride and let it go for €19,500.

So I reckon yours would definitely go for 17-18k, doubt you'd get much above that in a private sale. In saying that, it's a nice example and with the touring, it may suit a certain type of buyer at the right time and could sell very quickly. I'd put it up for around €19,500-19,750. You're leaving room to haggle but stick to a minimum value that you will not go below, like 18k or thereabouts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

Thanks for the input folks. I checked the vrt and Nox to bring one in and its €7,200.

That means to get one similar in UK you'd need to get it home for £11,500 to make total cost less than €20k and I can't see any near that so hopefully someone is looking for one and realises that it's good value. Put it up for just under 20. Still a decent lump of cash for the times that are in it so will see what happens.

Private sales are hard at that kind of money.
There are plenty buyers with the funds that dont need to use a dealer for finance but as I see it, the risk of a scam at that price level just makes it too risky for most.
Selling via a forum where you are known would be a great option.
