Keep us informed in the outside world :)

The chairman never saw the Facebook page or irish chess cogitations apparently - even though they were directly pointed out to him. So that's why only boards.ie was referred to on the ICU site.

    Laughter.

A code of ethics to govern the behaviour of ICU exec members on social media proposed and the incoming committee to address.

Edit - Pat also didn't see the reply to Barry Boswell on irish chess union.net where it was stated the outgoing webmaster may have had mental issues.

Touch of the Arsene Wengers about all that.

New members refused the right to vote as they signed up for the wrong year.

    3 or 4

The Junior officer says his report has been up on the website for the past four weeks, so can we just take it as read. Done. :)

Should also note the agenda was changed to the normal format (elections at the end) - the vice chair argued that the proposed format was ok in theory. But the vote to change was passed without the need to take votes against.

Onto the ratings officer's report now.

Secretary singles out Desmond Beatty as a true star - "anything positive that came out of this year came through him" or words to that effect

Eugene - who was Secretary over the summer - asks to give a supplementary report.

The chair says it's not needed.

    The floor overrules

Says he found for an appeal by the mcu against the decision to remove their delegate and sent this to the exec. But it was refused.

    Says disciplinary code completely ignored.

No right of represention granted to the delegate. No written notification given.

A previous mcu delegate also removed but after a different process.

    Fairly scathing

Confirms he resigned as Secretary over the matter. Didn't want to get labelled as "Pat's man"

Also said he recommended a legal opinion on the Aontas report. It's anonymous which is bad for a start.

Pointing out how he's Pat's clubmate which makes all this very difficult. Spoke very very well.

Not surprised the chair didn't want it read :) He deserves a medal!

John Alfred now talking about the mcu agm.

Says he was the previous mcu delegate.

Says anything on the mcu website can be taken with a pinch of salt because the letter about Gerry wasn't presented to the mcu agm

Can't security put JAlfred in a soundproof cage?

Statement of no confidence proposed. The chair refuses it.

Vice chair now addressing on controversial issues

Methinks the tournament will be starting late !

Vice chair saying the opposition to the current exec is because (a) people had a grudge after being voted off the exec last year and (b) people had a financial interest in being on the exec.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,170 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Vice chair defends aontas report.

Says he's shocked the mcu think they have the right to remove their delegate.

Says Pete Morriss was one of those who didn't take being voted off.

Defends the treatment of the Galway tournament.

    Basically defending everything.

"I know come along to Mr Gerry Graham"

It's Fr Ted's Golden Cleric speech all over.

John Alfred Wasn't he the guy that got the sacked when was caught forwarding emails to the to the player involved in the Cork Congress

"Is gerry a really nice guy who's whiter than white or is he a liar who doesn't deserve to be on the committee?"

Now saying the Gonzaga exec is too powerful and we shouldn't vote for them. Should we vote for people who run buses up to the Agm?

Ridiculous speech which is completely off agenda.

Vice chair is actually frothing at the mouth

Classic sign of rabies... Only one solution I'm afraid and its not pleasant;)

Did Gonzaga really run a bus up to the AGM? If they didn't they'll be sick that they didn't think of it!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,170 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Personal attacks against exec nominees.

Select comments from social media decried as disgusting.

You don't have to tell the bus conductor that you voted against Gerry.

    No - Munster.

Munster deny this - and say so what if they did anyway.
