In my OP I conveniently stated the terminal beside the flights. Very little, but not nothing.

OK - really you are nit picking.

With respect the point I was making was that from a short haul perspective, there are plenty of times during the day when Dublin T2 is pretty much dead in the same way Cork can be.

It is by no means uncommon - and the other poster suggesting that this a failing is not seeing the bigger picture.

Listing out the flights to the extreme that you did is being a tad over-zealous I would suggest.

But surely you know being accurate is important in the aviation industry. You said nothing moves. Incorrect.

Now we can move on, we won't get caught up on the little details any longer.

Go to Dublin Airport Terminal 2 in the early evenings and it's pretty dead as the Dublin based Aer Lingus short haul fleet is virtually all elsewhere.

After 07:45 in the mornings there are only the long haul flights - there is not a short haul aircraft to be seen there until after 09:00.

Every base has times like that - it's certainly not unique to Cork.

Fair enough, it isn't first time I have seen it like this though,

The motorway between Cork & Dublin makes the journey quite short that it seems to make Cork a less viable.

For me there isn't enough destinations & find the departure/arrival times & their weekly frequency to be well below par.

In my opinion anyways, for a 2 hour flight, its painful to take a 3 hour car journey beforehand.

It can be at times,no doubt about that but when the option isn't there from Cork....

And where are you going to get all the passengers from? It's not just Dublin that we are compeating with, it's Shannon and to a lesser extent Kerry.

Perhaps opening up strong talks with Ryanair will increase passenger numbers as they have done with many small airports across europe.

The only thing that Ryanair is good for is themselves. They showed their true colours already in Cork.

Who knows what really happened between the suits & Ryanair during talks.

Personally I almost always have flown with them & had never had a problem.

As has happened in Cork before, in Shannon before, and "many small airports across Europe" before, they will absolutely scupper any current routes in Cork by other airlines.

I have as well and as an Irish company have respect for them. But they did compete with a Polish carrier a few years ago on routes between Cork and Poland. After they killed their competitor from the routes they subsequently transferred those flights to Shannon.

There are more routes coming on stream in Cork, thanks to the likes of Cityjet, Stobart and Aer Lingus.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or if this is the place to ask but where can I see a full list of direct destination locations with the carrier name from Cork airport between 1st July to 31 Aug 2016?

    Thank you!

All the destinations marked 'Seasonal' are summer destinations with the exception of Salzburg.

At least you'll get some form of a roll while you're on your holidays.

Their fares aint cheap. I avoid if at all possible. Also Aer Lingus newish website is brutal.

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/us-delays-cork-airport-transatlantic-route-to-boston-376706.html

From the first line in the article :
The US authorities are in breach of the landmark EU-US Open Skies deal by delaying a licence to the airline planning the first transatlantic flights from Cork Airport.

Mr. Eoin English seems to be getting fed up.

May I ask, specifically, what labour laws are Norwegian overcoming by using NAI for their operations?

I'm not sure I know all of the major differences between Irish and Norwegian labor regulations, but from what I've experienced they are probably trying to avoid operating under the Norwegian Working Environment Directive ('Arbeidsmiljøloven').

Under that directive Norwegian workers have a considerable amount of rights regarding working hours, sick leave, parental leave, union membership and terms of dismissal. There are strict caps on overtime, unsocial hours and requirements on additional pay if overtime/unsocial hours are needed.

I assume their motivation to operate Norwegian Air International as an Irish airline is to make it easier to cut down on costs while expecting more working hours from their staff than they would normally be able to get while operating as Norwegian Air Shuttle (who are subject to Norway's laws).

At least this is the impression I get :/

If they are successful with this application they may also use these T&Cs on other flights from EU countries to the US.

Norwegian are using "flags of convenience" to avoid labor laws and workers rights! I believe many of their crew, while based elsewhere are on an agency contract that is based in Thailand ! So they are on Thai contracts working in the UK or US etc. something like this and the US ironically are the only ones standing up to it!
I think its actually a bit embarrassing for Ireland that companies can also use the Irish flag for this type of avoidance or exploitation of workers rights and employment law! Irelands typical lazy and lax approach to regulations and laws in this area have allowed this

2.07m pax at Cork in 2015, down from 2.1m in 2014.

That should be the low point reached for Cork for the foreseeable future, numbers have risen overall in the last three months of the year after a long period of steady decline up to September 2015. There's plenty of scope to allow a steady gain in 2016.

Was expecting more of a drop, current services must have strengthened a lot.

What are the predictions for next year in terns of PAX?
