my order is going wrong again, just been issued an email with someone else's name and account number, time to sort this out again.

The online order system must be broken, because this is the second time I submit an order and the automatic generated emails feed back someone elses account information and someone else obviously has my account information.

Bit of a data protection issue as well i would have thought

I've let Pamela know what is happening. The main issue it's causing is incorrect order details, the online ordering system is mixing up account numbers, and perhaps Eircodes, because my last order had to be cancelled as my Eircode was found in 2 orders so the system is probably sending wrong eircodes as well.

If this order has to be cancelled again I will have to order the product over the phone, Has anyone else come across this happening to them when they order online?

eir has 1950 premises passed for FTTH in Tralee. The rural part of Tralee's rollout has 760 premises assigned to it, which may not be ready yet? Because Eir already has lots of urban homes assigned to FTTH, it is very difficult to judge if their rural locations went live as both the urban and rural rollout share the same reference tag on the open eir map.

At a guess the majority or all of those 1950 live premises are urban. You would probably need to contact someone in Open Eir who could confirm if your area has gone live yet and if it is live, what can be done to get you connected.

It doesn't make sense that Eir would launch an area and not allow customers to sign up for a service because there is no more room.

Ok this makes sense if they are saying the ports are full if urban ftth is 1980 they might not have ports but they shouldnt be selling/confirming live & installation dates when there is no capacity on the olt. Im two miles outside the town so im not sure if im classified as rural or urban. I can see now the clounalour exchange is showing 1980 live ftth homes

Cant find any contact for openeir, same them a message on teiteer and didnt get a reply.

if you can see lots of green fields and in a ribbon development type area, then your rural. If your on a street full of houses with small gardens, shops and business's then your urban.

OpenEir don't deal with end users outside plant issues, you aren't their customer.

For the craic i put in my fathers number which in the middle of the town. eir are telling me that i can get fibre extreme. There telling me they can run a new fibre line from the fibre cabinet to the house. I questioned this with them because siro couldnt install fibre underground because the ducting was too small. Im just wondering is it a case again that the sales havnt a clue and are trying to sell even if there not too sure yet if they can get the fibre in.

presumably theres different ducting for telephone and siro esb electric so possibly room. It does explain why there no room on the ports!

there are taking orders for efibre (FTTC), myself and others are scheduled for installations next week.
With regards to FTTH it's scheduled (as per your screenshot) from next month. However what is unclear to me is if this service (FTTH) will be available to those within the town (there are blue lines in the town on the map) or if it will be available only to those on the blue line and outside of the town.... I guess we will know this time next month....

at a guess it will be available to those outside the town with FTTC providing service for the town itself. FTTH is only in small villages if there is no FTTC option available.

The Eircode system is supposed to be full of errors like totally wrong address and groups of houses under the one eircode..Eir should have went the loc8 way which is miles more reliable, needless to say its totally reliable...

"Supposed" by whom, exactly? I have yet to discover a single error in several thousand Eircodes.

Yea, that's what I'm thinking, it just seems odd to rollout FTTH a week after FTTC. assuming that it allows them to maximise rate at which they can increase the BB rollout and reduce footprint left for gov. Scheme........either way 90m efibre it's more than enough to keep me happy......

Faster to roll out FTTC hi-speed broadband in higher density areas with the copper to the premises already in place

I assume if I see this on the post outside our house then FTTH is imminent?

Have seen eir vans at the nearby cabinet a lot in the last week too.
This is in Tara, Co Meath

You might be lucky and it could be coming very soon. But I saw coils of fibre (like in your pic) on poles in Rathcoole back in November but FTTH is only scheduled to go live for Rathcoole in April.

it will be a few months yet, in the picture above that's the early stages of wiring, depending on the route it can be anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks before they come back and install the splitter box's, then there more wiring work after that.

Also the Tara exchange is massive with over 1100 premises to be wired, a far bigger length of blue lines to be completed compared to the Dunshaughlin exchange and most of us have been waiting 4 months since the splicing was completed. It also all depends on how much will Open Eir complete for first live date.

same here, we have to wait till April before getting connected and some parts have been wired since mid November.

When I saw our road being wired I thought there would only be 1 to 2 month wait, but it's been much longer than that.

could easily be October for many of those Spring/Summer exchanges.

Our exchange was meant to be Autumn 2016, then Winter 2016. When the lads were wiring the area they said most likely we'd have it by end of January, then the exchange got an early 2017 date and then March 8th and most of the exchange still won't be live till April 5th, some other parts of the exchange possiblly even later as there still seems to be some work going on in some parts.

Pamela got back to me about my concerns of the online ordering system, it turns out that the account number given to me is actually a new account number which the system created and not someone elses account number. I didn't realise that it creates a new account number.

When I ordered I didn't get a new account number. My account number has stayed the same.

Are the blue lines on the http://www.openeir.ie/Our_Network/#nga-map now yellow for anybody else? Can anyone spot any route changes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

    Yes, dont know.

Yes, yellow on http://fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when/ also, although I presume they both use the same plugin map.

Don't notice any change in my area other than colour.

they must have got sick of us calling them blue lines now we can refer to them as the yellow lines:)

maybe it's for visibility, the yellow is easier to spot over the green background.

edit: seems a bit buggy, the lines disappear when you zoom in

Maybe it disappears to make the end points a bit more vague so they don't get the irate "your line stops 200m from my house" people?
