i give it 60 minutes before the old one turns up, having been in a shoe.

I have started tidying my office in between experiments today, I fully expect the same, will keep you updated with this story as it unfolds. The worst thing is I have this hazy memory of dropping it as I was putting somewhere and thinking, I better pick that up from there as it will be lost. Under a couch or behind a cupboard but I can't tell is it my mind playing tricks or not.

I also have brake pads, oil, and socks on the way but the pads were out of stock when I ordered so am unsure how long it will actually take. It is 8 days at the minute. After my collision a few days after I ordered the oil and pads, I have decided to take the good bike out of the shed. i don't think it was a brake issue but now I am not so sure.

Two pairs (M and XL) of Specialised Grail gloves. These are great (not much padding, but it's on the palm, where the hand has no built-in padding, good grippy leather, fairly long-lasting) but for some reason are no longer being made/sold. BikeInn has them at half price (still 15 a pair!).

that's a strange combination of sizes, unless they're not both for you?

You'll never look back. While the hardware can go a bit wonky, the app is great, komoot/strava/etc integration is very clean, and the navigation is clear. And, if the hardware does go (I'm on my third, in five years or so), they are good about warranty.

    Could this actually be brownian?

It would be. Despite visions of having a bigger L hand than R hand...the smaller ones are for the boss, so she doesn't keep stealing mine.

A whole rake of tools to let me disassemble my drivetrain and clean it properly for the first time in 18 months!

Some of these jerseys in orange and navy, because I’m sick of being a sweaty boll**ks. I’ve held off on a lightweight rain jacket so far, but I’d a sweaty experience at the weekend in my winter jacket, so I’m eyeing up the suggestions in this thread.

Shimano T-8000 double sided pedals (I don’t possess a pair of cycling shoes, but I’ll get those in the LBS hopefully).

And a couple of security bolts to replace the quick releases on my wheels, because I’ve decided that’s asking for trouble.

And here was I thinking cycle commuting would save me money...

What's the deal with cycling jerseys been so expensive ? Just had a look at that one you linked 110€ , are they worth it? I have been wearing cheap base layers I get from planet x for 10 pound and running tee shirts over them. Will I notice a big difference if I move to cycling jerseys instead of running tops?

Different cut (shorter at the front, longer at the back), elasticated waist, normally 3 pockets at the back (maybe plus a "key" pocket) for carrying rain jacket/ food/ phone.

Then you can get into fit and material, but you most definitely don't have to spend €110 for one! My most frequently worn come from aliexpress - I'm more fussy, and think it's worth paying premium, for shorts and jackets.

I'd agree with Macy. I have cycling jerseys from Decathlon and AliExpress, all of which are substantially cheaper than the one in the link

I wonder do companies think cyclists are willing to spend more , I notice a big difference in prices between running and cycling gear. Some stuff is very similar but if its cycling it seems to be inflated.

Actually my 2nd one after replacing my lost one. One noticeable thing, the pick up is quicker. Wahoo claim there is no difference under the hood so maybe its software updates but it is noticeably quicker at picking up speed changes etc. and is now as fast as my old Garmin, which addresses the only complaint I had about the Bolt, as other than that i found it far more reliable than the Garmin.

There are squillions of jerseys on Sportpursuit, there's no real need to be paying full retail for fancy ones, unless you just like having the exact one you wanted. I'd quite like a Rapha Brevet one, but refuse to cough up for it. Torm do pretty nice ones for a bit less.

The pockets in Jerseys are very useful indeed. They do need to be on your back. So, yes, you'll notice a difference.

Where did you get the pedals? Ive had mine for years and love them, the brother wants some but they've been sold out for ages everywhere.

I like the look, I like the pockets, I sweat far too much in the stuff I’ve bought to date and these are supposedly super breathable, and I’ve spent nothing during lockdown. They’re probably not the most sensible purchase I’ll ever make, but on this occasion I don’t care. I also am not married :p I’ll feed back when I get them anyway.

0-14 Nm Torq wrench from BBB tools, to finally fix my f+"%%% crank back on properly, replacement cassette as I'm skipping gears since I changed the chain, shimano cassette tool, generic tube of grease. Enough tools now to warrant a wee bike tool toolbox. Should I just open a shop now?

    Panaracer Race L Evo 3 28mm X 2 for my Cervelo C3 + 4 tubes. Good value at €50 for the pair

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,921 ✭✭✭cletus

    Charge Spoon

    DMR single speed conversion kit

    Pair of inner tubes

Haven't bought tyres yet, undecided what to get, although I'm pretty sure the size will be 26x1.75, to alleviate and clearance issues

The Shimano PD-T8000 are nicely discounted here at the moment: https://www.bike-components.de/en/Shimano/XT-PD-T8000-Clipless-Platform-Pedals-p50756/

I just ordered a set myself as I've been meaning to try clipless for a while. Hesitated between them and the PD-EH500 but the T8000 look like may be an easier transition for somebody used to platforms, and they are for a do-it-all bike so don't need them to look too 'racy'. Shoes next!

Also picked up a pair of GP5000 28c. The GP4000 25c I have been using for the last 4 years are quite literally torn to shreds and the 28c I had stocked as a replacement turned out to be a bit too tall at the rear. The GP5000 are apparently more true to size so hopefully the 28c will fit.

Ah perfect thanks, might get a spare set myself, they're my forever pedals :D

A box of zip bags in Ikea costs about 2.50 for 50 of them.

A new Shimano 10-speed cassette for the commuter bike and a Galibier Izoard gilet. I have a ton of gilets but I'm thinking this one will see more wear off the bike than on it!:D

Pulled the trigger on this new Gios from merlin cycles, I think I fell in love with the picture:

    https://www.merlincycles.com/gios-vintage-veloce-road-bike-190945.html

It might be a case of form over function, but I dont care, I'm not a racer :)

merlincycles aren't delivering bikes to Ireland at the moment, so I am getting it sent to parcel motel in the north, hopefully they will post it down to me but at a cost. I'm a bit anxious about that as I could not find out the dimensions of the box it will come in, making me a bit worried parcel motel could return to the seller if its too big / heavy.

Has anyone ever used parcel motel for this before?

This.... I broke the original (titanium) axle over 30 years ago. It was a common enough problem then. I'd fitted a newer crankset, but it never really suited the bike, so I decided to finally put it right.

Do you know what's not in the post? All the stuff above, because despite ordering it last week, Merlin still haven't shipped, the order is still "in picking"
