Yeah, with Mario Maker now becoming Nintendo's tentpole Christmas release, I'd be surprised if we got nothing between now and the end of the year. They've already announced a new costume for Japan (the Famitsu mascot which probably won't make it over here) so they clearly are open to post release content (not to mention pretty much all of their recent major releases had DLC of some sort).

Does DLC become free downloads or do I have to buy them?

In the attached image, you can see MOST of the things Nintendo missed out in Super Mario Maker and should be released in DLCs.

My niece and nephew had great fun with this over the weekend. Both massive minecraft fans, so it was an easy transition. Their levels were pretty much uncompletable, but it was a good start.

My nephew paid my Fortress of Fire and Ice level the best complement - he said it was like a real Mario level. :)

I'd be really interested to see - assuming there is DLC coming, which seems like a safe enough bet - how they manage access to levels created with the DLC ; ie. can anyone play them, like with the Amiibo unlocked costumes, or does it become a multi-tier class system where those with vanilla Mario Maker are restricted to basic levels with the release content, and the DLC elite lord it over the rest of the proles with their Desert levels and giant mushrooms?

And now to resume crossing my fingers for MarioKart Maker and Mario 3D World Maker... :D

I'd assume that we can play the levels with slopes but only those that pay for slopes can use slopes.
I'd be buying the slopes 'cause there slopes.

@sligeach - this is what you need to aspire to if you want to make REALLY difficult levels. :)

I suspected that someone else had created those last couple of courses! Tell whoever made that last castle level that they nearly brought a grown man to tears :P

I love a hard level but that is sadistic. Genius! But sadistic. That's in a completely different galaxy to my level. I could never in my wildest dreams make something as good as that.

Edit: And I'm quite happy with the 0.14% completion rate on my Bittersweet Impossible level. :D I'd like to make a really hard level but I need stars and you don't get stars for those kinds of levels. I need to get to 50 and I'm not even at 20. I was hoping the Beanstalk level would help.

Edit 2: Good God I've only 16 stars.

I haven't had the 'pleasure' of trying any of your levels yet.

I'll let you know how it goes later. *cracks knuckles*

Just passed 100 stars and I'm quite disappointed I didn't get anything for it. 150 is the next medal apparently.

There are a few levels here I've not gotten to try, and a good few I've only tried once or twice. You're all too prolific for me to keep up!!!

150!? I'll be a long while stuck at 20 levels so because after the initial bump, I'm finding stars hard to get.

Finally got around to actually unlocking and beating all the Nintendo World Championship courses. The last one in particular is a nightmare (a brilliantly designed nightmare in fairness).

You're lucky you have 16 stars, I only have 5/6 stars and I have 7 levels uploaded

I've seen levels like that in SMW ROM hacks. Ridiculously difficult.

Downloaded. Must check if it's fixed that glitch that makes Mario invincible.

Edit: No they've not fixed it but that glitch only came to attention a few days ago and the new update probably went gold at least a week ago.

Anybody know here how you record a Super Mario Maker level so it can be a video and brought onto sites such as Marioshare or YouTube?

You'll need a separate video capture device, between the Wii U and the TV.

Crossed 150 stars. I'm not even sure I have 30 ideas for levels.

Playing around with a bit of recording. Quality isn't the best as the laptop in using is pretty old(running Vista) but anyway I make this level look easy but I spent 10 minutes before hand completing it but I lost the recording.
Without further adue here is Eoghanies, SKYWAY TO HELL

I found you, your levels are good, generally the Nintendo community is so small around here not many are left playing the game very often after Launch week. Funny enough I find a lot of people playing my levels are not you lot but random people, who I presume are playing the 10 lives game and just getting my level randomly, or something.
I completed your airship one and recorded all my trial and error which should be interesting for you to watch. Took my 20 minutes. Despite my 240mb broadband it won't be uploaded for another 10 minutes.
