Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you visit Castlebar pretty frequently...

    I'd gladly take them. :)

Haven't been there in a while because of the festive season and all but I'll be going up there soon. I suppose I can meet you on the way and hand them over, or pop them in an envelope, whichever you prefer. :)

That dash cam I got it set up.

    Design - 10/10
    Window Mount - 10/10
Daytime video quality footage - 8/10 (Fairly descent)
Night time video quality footage - 0/10 (Can't see a thing, unless your in an area with street lights)
Time/date setting - 0/10 (resets back to the default time date setting when car/dash cam is turn off)
    Recording - 0/10 (Pure sh1t records for 40 seconds)

Overall I recommend nobody buy it, the fact it only records for 40 seconds each time and also the fact that it doesn't save the time/date I have come to the conclusion it's their is a big problem with it. Going to call halfords, to sort it out...

Agreed. Mine won't be going near it. I do like getting the bus serviced at main dealer though, have all the stamps etc. If I brought it in for a service would they do the "fix" without my permission do you think?

That's what my parents were worried about but the garage said they can't do it without you signing the form but I mean how true that is I don't know but I suppose it would make sense it's your car they can't do a major thing like that without your permission. You will be safe enough for the first few months of next year either way as they are not actually doing the recall till the middle of next year.

I don't know much about dash cams but I would have thought most would be infra-red for night time recording. Some of the newer cameras with infra-red have great night vision. As for the recording that obviously makes it useless but is there an sd slot you could use for more memory.

Just booked an NCT for the 166 on the 5th of January. At least in North Point there is loads and loads of slots available.

Think one of the first comments under the article was "best place for it". Well, um, uh......

It's a rental, so he probably doesn't care.

Glass tends to cause all sorts of problems for infrared cameras. I had to remove the power supply for the ir leds in cameras I was using behind glass. I'd regard it as a gimmick in a dashcam. If you are getting good pictures at night then you are seeing a sensor/lens that makes the most of low light levels rather than ir "nightvision". In my humble, uninformed and amateur opinion as always :-)

On my old dashcam you could see a glare from the IR LEDs on the footage. Thankfully the night vision had to be turned on manually :pac:

Any Audi/VW dealers open today? It seems my A6 has a slow coolant leak and George doesn't seem to be around (much deserved break I'm sure in fairness) so need to get it topped up somewhere as it started complaining about the level this morning and it is a bit under the marker alright.

    (South) Dublin/Kildare/M7 direction will do

There may be but why not get a litre of coolant in Halfords and just top it up?

Was previously advised (here actually) against using "generic" coolant in the meantime :)

As far as i know there are only a small number of types, it may say which one your car wants in the manual.
You could see if anyone has it then.

    Just to get you out.

You could dilute it slightly with some bottled water either if you wanted.

It ain't going to implode for a drop of water :)

I'd add water to it. Deionised if you want to do it properly. It wont matter too much to dilute it slightly with water. I'd rather do that, and wait until you can get your hands on the correct Audi/VAG spec coolant.

Something abit different Yas Marina race track in Abu Dhabi which has hosted Formula 1 in recent years. Here's a few pictures unfortunately I didn't get to drive any of the cars on the track as they were booked out for a week but the tour was good.

Inside each lane has various power outlets, full A/C, and tv to give details of track conditions such as ground temperature

Inside control room picture abit wierd because of panoramic shot but you get the idea 100s of cameras all feed back to here to be viewed

All in all the place is well worth seeing and the noise out of the track cars :)

Nope here for New Years too arrived on the 24th.

Seems like I'm in the same boat as job seeker. Night recording is pretty bad. Also I don't know where the background noise came from. The reset caused it maybe? Perhaps I need to reset it again?

    1. Return it.
    2. Claim your money back.
    3. Buy a dashcam.

Ah shtop, I'm already annoyed with trying to sell the Punto. I've had four (yes, FOUR) people that called and said they will come. They even gave me times and all, but none of them showed up or made any contact since then. Except one who said he was too busy with Christmas or whatever but what is the point of this? I really don't understand. Arranging a time, seeming all interested and then that's it...

I don't really like selling gifts, so I don't know. The quality is good in day time.
