Found some epic brake discs and pads for car from a place in US for 560e

Went to cart, postage 700e :(

    Gah

Went through that numerous times with parts for American cars. You'd be clocking up a bill ordering bits, go to checkout and be quite happy (Euro was a lot stronger to the dollar at the time) then go to pay and shipping could be more than the price of the parts depending on weight.

Surely you can source those in Europe?

The adaptive cruise in VAG's these days lets you go up/down through the gears while it's still active. Really nice for back roads and what not. Just used it earlier myself today to cruise home with a tumble dryer in the boot.

If you are tracking it, then those vaders are worth 400!

Like the Irish drifting community on Facebook, there are plenty of bmw's rocking around on that for sale for that money.
You'd get a prepped one at your 2k budget.

This would be a track slut and nothing more, would sort it and get a chape trailer and towbar for S4.

*Nearly* got caught by a go safe this evening. Red go safe vans are hard to spot in the night. One hiding on the downhill outside of Bunclody. Quick glance in the mirror and jam on the anchors. Was only about 10 over the limit but still, 3 points is a lot

The urge for an old timer is back again. Would love a capri or manta or something along those lines. Even a mk2 fiesta. Talk is cheap however....

Manta would be savage!! My dad had a lime green Manta A way back when, with the rally lights and bonnet stripes and the works. Looked awesome :D Would love to get one some day!

Ya would love to restore something a bit. Nothing drastic, but manageable bits. Some day sooner rather than later hopefully!

Theres a chap in work with a Manta B2 in white that he keeps immaculate too! He drives it to work on Fridays, I must befriend him and get a spin in it someday :D

My uncle has 2 decrepit BX-19 GTI 16v Citroens stuck in a hedge that I would someday love to restore into one nice example someday. I need to have a proper look at them and see are they both salvageable!

If you find something cheap-ish, you can just tinker away until you can afford to put it on the road. Try getting a 29 or 28 year old car so it's cheaper to buy and then after a year or two you get cheap tax.

Well, I think I've decided on a set of wheels to go for, BBS RS-GT's in 18/19's with a Bilstein B12/Eibach Pro Kit combo. Pricey but I do plan on keeping the car so should be worth it, should look similar to this if I go through with it:

It stops you going over the speed it displays the set speed on the top of the digital speedo and once you hit that the car won't exceed it. It has that safety feature that if you floor it, it will let you go over the set speed it will flash a few red lights at you to say your over it but no beeping.

That's as useless as the bong a lot of cars make so, I'd rather let the cruise sort it and go in a more appropriate lower gear. The car limiting the speed it goes has a worse consequence.

nein nein nein BBS are for zee peasants! you need some z3m coupe wider rears x 4 as per this NSFW Vid and they will fit your lardy e39 even better:D

and for SG looking for some cheap e36 inspriation this is for you too- started as a cheap 325i saloon ungraded it slowly if you watch the interview..sounds just as good as a v8 to my old war-torn ears :D

There's kind of only one road in Kilkenny I use the speed limiter on a it's difficult to stay under 50kmh and people are often caught on it and then around town I generally use neither. Then for back/main road driving I'd use neither. Motorway is all cruise control all the time I find it great. Would struggle to buy a car that didn't have cruise control at this stage well daily driver anyway.

That very nearly clipped you as it shot over your head man, you would not know that Gvido done a track day recently having won it in a competition.
    It was a joke.

First legal proceedings against VW taking place in Dublin next week. Wonder how much VW will have to fork out for it.
I'm also wondering, if VW agrees to take the cars back off of the owners and reimburse then what will they do with the outstanding cars? I imagine they will have to flog them on at a very good price.
I'd also be querying what of the people who took out finance to pay for the cars, would their debts be settled by VW plus comp?
I'd bloody hate to be the solicitors for VW now.

I don't think any of that is going to happen in reality they are not going taking back cars or clearing people's loans and giving them compensation. A multi billion euro worldwide company will have decent solicitors a lot better that upset joe soap could ever get. People seem to get excited and think because VW Cheated them they will get the sky the moon and the stars which I highly doubt.

Skoda dealer was saying when the Octavia was being serviced two weeks ago that they said that they can't touch the car in terms of doing the recall without the owners signed permission thats good at least. As getting that recall done would be a very bad call.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,900 ✭✭✭✭bear1

from what I read though, VW have already had to create some billion Euro of loan to prepare for any legal costs and repairs. So I don't think the possibility of paying out is far fetched.
Especially considering that the Americans are also suing them.
