I wasn't going to but now you mention it..... :pac:

Sound, it's currently filthy, getting a well deserved clean when I finish up today!

I've decided. Next step for my car is new front shocks and new springs all round. Have Koni yellow shocks on the rear, and want to match up front. They'll set me back 400 for the pair (more I think actually...). Have a brand spanking new set of koni yellow rears still boxed, which I need to sell first to fund it I'd say!

    Quote from Irish government.

"So lads, see how your vws are taxed based on emissions yeah ? .... yeah grand, we'll need your house as a deposit on the road tax there. ...."

Id say your realistically not going to sell it to anyone on here :pac: ah no I genuinely hope you sell it on and get a reliable car because I don't even know how you stuck it out this long. Life is way too short to keep a car like that long term there's a lot more important thing to worry about than whether or not your car will work today.

Best of luck with the sale write up a decent ad with loads of detail and decent pictures and might be surprised how quick it will sell.

Yeah bear, hopefully your next car will be reliable.....like a VW or something :pac:

Paid €1500.39 in full to NoNonsense insurance on 8th September, still waiting for the bleedin' insurance cert. They say I am covered but I've no idea what the delay is. I called them yesterday and they said they will see what the issue is and call me back later.

    Absolute joke...

Called them up there, they sent the certificate out today and it will be here within 3 days apparently.

How many days can you drive without an insurance disk after taking out a policy? 10 days? It has been 11 days as of today...

I don't even have a bloody policy number, what happens if I crash?

Been in the U.S. for 10 days now. Got my hire car with 2k miles on it and it's now over 5000 miles! I have it for another four weeks too so the rental company will get some shock when they get it back...!

So glad I ticked the unlimited mileage box now....:D

No I don't think so. I just don't see the point in them, and given that I have the rear shocks in, matching the fronts and getting a set of eibach pro springs wouldn't be too ridiculous a cost. I'd say swapping the shocks/springs at the same time would make my job a lot easier for the fronts at least too!

Nada, it's just being a bitch to me. Light comes on and I thought ok I'll get this sorted in the next few days.
Then it went off and thought bollocks to wasting more money if it's off.
Then it came back, went in and out of diagnostics to find shag all stored.

Cheers and I wouldn't dream of selling it to anyone on here - shure I'd be banned like :D Actually maybe to Hachiko I'd sell it to :D
Stuck with it mostly cause of buying a house and having a child so wasn't really in the financial position to start flogging it on less than a year after buying it.
The write up would be mad I'd say "Car has been completely ****ING REBUILT!"
Next car will be a left hooker I'm afraid, spend way too much time in Europe to justify having to risk my life trying to overtake a truck on a ****e road.
Have my eyes on a Legacy Tourer, Octavia VRS 170 and maybe a Mondeo.
Yeah bear, hopefully your next car will be reliable.....like a VW or something :pac:

Ah ya know.... fcuk it I've nothing to say there :pac:

I finally got a litre of correct spec oil for my car. I thought the newer spec vag oil was expensive this stuff is far more 15 quid for a litre of Fuchs 49 euro for 4 litres. But at least I have it now for top ups hopefully the car won't burn too Much. From what I can see only Fuchs and elf make the rn0720 spec and most places including micksgarage don't even sell it.

    Adjustability :)

They let you do what you want compared to just what you can get them in.
I know the pro kit is very good but you can get tein coilovers for very little more!

I'd always go with coilovers! :)

That said when you have half the car done it would be a bit of a waste!

Ah yeah, I'm not that will read on coilovers, but I know I'd never adjust them once on the car. And my shocks are adjustable!

But I'd say this purchase will be in a while. Rent is a joke ... :(

I was renting but back home now so that's where all my progress came from!
    It's better being free though!

Growing very fond of it actually! This one is only a rental but I'm actually considering buying one out here! Maybe not this exact one tho..:D

It's a Ford Fusion Alan but it's got the 240bhp 2.0T under the bonnet with the flappy paddles and sports auto box. It's the SE spec so has everything except sat nav.

    @Gvidor - this isn't a vacation, it's more of a semi permanent thing. I'm living and working here. :)

He is renting in Dublin as well, god knows how much he is paying per month. Dublin has extortionate rates.

I'll be moving back home after college when I start my job as it's quite near it certainly makes it a lot cheaper even if your chipping in abit to stay at home it's far far cheaper than renting and all the associated costs. My parents are on about moving aboard in a few years too and want one of us to stay in the house to mind it that would be ideal. I'd rather avoid renting for as long as possible and just buy a house younger as houses wouldn't exactly be huge money down here anyway.

That's awesome. I'd love to come and visit and perhaps live there too, but the whole visa thing is a huge hassle for someone like me who has 0 relatives there. Where abouts are you living there?

Good stuff 166man, hope all is going well for you.
