You should probably give the 30 day Cancellation when signing up though

Hopefully the offer for €100 for the year comes back too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 794 ✭✭✭Berberis

Good deal that for €1.pity its not like the Christmas one for 2 months.
I am reading the terms right on this one that if you sign up for this then you have to sign for a minimum of 2 months so then the 2nd month is full price

Minimum Term: the minimum term during which you are obligated to first subscribe to the Service under this Contract according to the Option chosen by you.

    a) 12 Month Minimum Term Contracts: the minimum term shall be a period of twelve (12) months from the date on which you first subscribe to the Service.
    b) Annual Packages: the minimum term shall be a period of twelve (12) months from the date on which you first subscribe to the Service
    c) Monthly Packages: the minimum term shall be a period of two (2) months from the date on which you first subscribe to the Service.

So if you sign up for the monthly HD deal of €25 a month then it will cost €26 for the 2 months

I think we're all hoping for this one.....in fact, I don't think I'll be interested in signing up again unless I can get something like this.

I am currently on the €99. Other than a few UFC events, I have not used it much during summer. Will enjoy some football when it comes back though.

Just another reason to horribly regret my decision to move to upc last year.

    i'm paying €19 a month, how do I get the €100 a year deal?

    It doesn't currently exist.

Hopefully it will return one day.

2 x BT channels & ESPN in delicious HD, for €8 per month was a great deal.

Well, this offer is just a con to get you to sign up for a minimum of 2 months, and afterwards get screwed at 21.99 a month minimum. Nothing that I would have any regrets about;)

    No upc?

Ah dude, cancel after 30 days, ull then be offered a 3 month deal.

The initial offer is one month 1€ the second at full price, so that's like avg 12 a month.
Good deal to get them to keep u.

Remember all champions league games this season.

I'd take it for 12-15 per month Max.

They usually give u a 3 month deal.

It was a brilliant deal they brought out in November......for the Christmas present market, I presume. You had to pay the €99 up front.

Looks like BT have won La Liga rights so I can't see the €100 deal happening again with this and the CL now on it but if they keep it low I can see quiet alot of football fans jumping ship to Setanta.

Just reading the terms and conditions - Am I reading right and that an email cancelling it is now sufficient? Obviously the 30 days notice still applies but before when I got it you had to ring as far as I remember. Thanks

I got this offer last September, so I think it was primarily for the new football season?
Have a reminder in my calendar to cancel before I'm signed up full price! :D

Looks like more live Saturday games...
British broadcasters were given added incentive to invest in the Primera Division after the Spanish football league (LFP) announced last month that kick-offs for one of its Saturday afternoon slots - one recently used for El Clasico - would be moved to 5.15pm UK time solely to accommodate British viewers.

With evision it's 18 quid a month and first two months free. So 9 months of the football season for 126 quid.

I was under the impression that we didn't have to cancel - the service would just die at the end of 12 months.

You must have been one of the first to sign up, so let us know what happens when your 12 months comes to an end.

I just checked my confirmation email, and it said I'll be charged 21.99 per month after the trial period. I then checked their terms and conditions link https://secure.setantasubs.com/terms-and-conditions included in the email, and saw this:
    (a) Your Contract will automatically renew at the end of the Contract Term
    as follows:-
    a) 12 month Minimum Term Contracts: a further 12 month contract under which the price will revert to the standard monthly price at the time.
    b) Annual Package: a further upfront prepaid annual contract
    c) Monthly Package: a monthly contract at the standard monthly price at the time.

So I wouldn't be optimistic of it automatically ceasing. In my experience of Setanta they always auto-renew.

When I signed up for the €99 deal for a year I was told it was a once off payment and would not renew.
Service billed at €99 for one year. This is a one off payment, the service will be switched off and will not renew after this period. Offer available on satellite only. Offer not available for current customers. Full terms and conditions of the Setanta Sports service are available here.

Question about Setanta/BT, signing up are you able to get live streams onto your laptop or is it tv only?

Signed up to Setanta through UPC today. First two months for free €21 thereafter but you can cancel any time once you have the service for 30 days. So cancel after the first month and you'll only be charged UPC's €10 downgrade fee. 5er a month, not bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 334 ✭✭triple nipple

Can you get it HD on UPC ?

Surely it's €21 plus €10 cancellation for the first 3 months then no?

I asked them and they said once you have the service for 30days you can cancel anytime. I asked them if there was a notice period and they just said "you can cancel anytime".

HD channels come with the package.

I saved the chat transcript so should be no problems cancelling without being charged the €21

Nice one, just in time for 2moros match. it took about an hour for the signal to come through after signing up online. It might get cut off immediately but I'll be getting as long as possible out of it since I have it in writing there's no cancellation period after 30days, only the tenner downgrade fee.

I upgraded my upc package online to setanta due to this deal I.e free for two months 21 after that ! I presume there will be no issue with getting this deal considering I self served myself ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Does anyone know if you can get the €1 offer for the first month even if you're not a new customer ? I'm on an old €9.99 for 2 months offer that we used when we got the new sky box and new viewing card, and it's after cancelling today

If I cancel would I be able to get the €1 offer? Or would using new card details but the same sky viewing card work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭kooga

i would imagine it would but as it is a two month contract minimum it will be €1 and €25 = €26 or €13 a month.

I am surprised they didn't ring you with a retention offer

yeah I was too. it's not worth the €25 a month for a regular sign up so hopefully i get a call in the next few days

Hi - I took the €1 month offer and then cancelled for the end of the 2 months. They emailed back offering me €16.99 for another 2 months but I declined. Left it a few weeks and the emailed saying I would renew for 2 months at 9.99 as I have seen it being offered. Email today giving it to me for that.

You've worked that well - well done!

I'm still on the 99 for one year deal - I think I'll let it go though - I'm not keen on BT, and I don't seem to watch it much.

yeah - I got that deal as well, in fairness it was a decent offer.

But as you say 2 of the channels seem to be all American sport - very little interest to me personally and whilst there are good European league matches ( but not Spanish ) on the other 2, frankly I don't have time to watch them.

So basically I have it for the 2 matches on Saturdays and the odd pro 12 match and even then I struggle to get the time to watch these with family commitments.

It was interesting to have it for the Year but to be honest l'll probably let it go even if they renewed the deal.

I'm on the €99 deal and I'm surprised how much I watch it. Football, basketball and UFC mostly.

I'll definitely be renewing but not at full price if I can help it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Doodah7

If you have a very narrow interest in sport such as soccer, golf and rugby and judge sports channels on this criterion then BT Sport/Setanta is not going to be for you. However I have huge interest in American sports particularly baseball and college football and therefore BT Sport is perfect for me. Given that I van watch the odd Premiership game and rugby too is an added bonus but by no means the reason I signed up.

I hope that they run some offer similar to the €99 one last year. I think that they would be foolish not to. Even for €129 or so for a year I would likely go for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭CJmasgrande

I have the €99 deal but I think it's due to expire soon.

It's weird I have no correspondence from them throughout the year I haven't a clue when the year ends or whether they ever registered me as a customer.

I'd guess they hope you don't notice and then they automatically put you on the 21.99 per month?

worth putting in a call and check to see when you signed up, also what happens after the 12 month expires, will it roll on at full price and if you no longer want it must you give the 31 days notice.
