    From the other thread.

    As a reformed smoker, I wouldn't.

    As a reformed non-smoker, I would.

Unfortunately I'm married to one and I hate it. If I was back on the dating scene smoking would be a deal breaker for me.

If I really liked then, I'm sure I probably would but, even though I'm generally open minded, I just find it vile.

    no I wouldn't.

Yeah, it wouldn't bother me. It's not a red flag or a deal breaker for me.

What's this crap again. Everyone on here judging everyone else. Half of them probably couldn't even pull themselves.

All women smoke, when I'm through with 'em.

I mean that they all 'physically' smoke, after I have rough sex'd them. Not that they all need to start smoking after the relationship ends in order to cope with the stress of having gone out with me.

Do you need some nicotine hun?

No. Not just for the smoking: given what we know about the health costs today, continuing to smoke says several things about a person, and none of them are traits I want in a date.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

These threads would push you to inject liquid nicotine.

Why do you assume not wanting to date a smoker means you're judging them? I don't judge smokers, I smoked myself for long enough, I just don't like the smell or the taste. Nothing to do with the person themselves.

Would you date a short smoker who liked injecting themselves?

    Yes, I would.

I quit eight months ago, but don't mind people smoking around me at all.

I insist on any potential partner providing me with a full medical report before entering a solicitor-brokered contracted agreement to engage in a relationship.

I post on a boxer dogs forum. I posted and delved due to my girl getting up the duff.

These guys openly admit they won't date a smoker.

I'd find it difficult. My mum was a smoker and (thanks to the warnings on cigarette packets) I spent most of my childhood terrified that she'd end up with heart disease or Lung Cancer and would 'die younger'. Ultimately, my fears were proven right; she ended up with heart disease, but it was the Lung Cancer that got her in the end. I'm an insufferable worrier, so I'm not sure a smoker would find me tolerable.

My boyfriend does, and tbh I hate it! Never was much of an issue for me until we moved in together. He smoked in the house at the start, but thankfully now he goes outside in the garden to smoke. Don't think he'll ever give up. Oh well, he's grand in every other way :o

Both my parents also smoke. Myself and my brother are very anti-smoking though!

No, just the smell sickens me, and no one would want me if I had my pukey face on all the time anyway.

I don't think smokers realise how badly they smell. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,172 ✭✭✭Mister Vain

No I couldn't do it as I absolutely hate the smell. If she was an occasional smoker I'd consider it, but generally it would be a deal breaker for me.

No, it's the one thing I can't budge on.

Sometimes I meet women in work who are very nice and attractive, but then at break time I see them going out for a smoke and it just completely turns me off.

    Exactly.

FFS what is it today? You meet someone you click, let's rock and roll, see where it goes - not get the checklist out.

I have done, cant say I noticed it too much. He didnt reak of stale smoke and neither did his house so it didn't bother me.
    Probably would again

    Gwyneth Paltrow smokes?

She has the most preachy new-agey-healthy-living-steam-your-privates-and-eat-macrobioticly-holier-than-thou-your-body-is-a-temple website ever, and she smokes?

    Hypocrite!

Yes I would. Being a smoker does not define who you are. And if he had a hot body and a big mickey, all the better.

    Yep. Rarely, but she does.

She probably has the odd glass of wine and maybe even a chip or two. I wouldn't say they are the antithesis of "my body is a temple".

Ah that's not really 'being a smoker'.

Not in the same league as a 20 a day habit. She's still a nutter, mind. :)

It would depend on how much they smoked - if it is just a casual/social smoker, then maybe, but, if not, then definitely no. I'm asthmatic, so would rather not be around that. Plus, let's face it, there's a horrible taste when you kiss someone that has just smoked.
