Think Taylor is cracking value for this at 10/3.

He's been at his peak for this every year before his form tapers off towards the Worlds and is going for 8 in a row.

Averaged over 105 in 5 of the last 7 finals.

Has already won the World Cup with Lewis and the Japan masters a couple of weeks ago so far this summer so current form is solid as well.

Jelle Klassen is in great form latley, fancy the first upset to be him destroying Simon Whitlock tonight. Is that even an upset considering how poor Simon is gone.

Well watching them on pdc last weekend Jelle looked to be back in top form hitting his doubles with ease.

Great week ahead I'll be stuck to the sofa every night.

JK's been doing a lot better by the look of the last few months. They are about equal on the betting so bookies obviously think hes got a chance.

I wouldn't bet(winners) on either 1st 2 games because the games could go down to last leg. No value in last 2 games unless you go for upset (Benito VD Pas? Again been playing well recently)

Whitlock turning over the form book in a big way here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,532 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Didn't expect them two games to be so one sided

Hilarious to hear the commentators in the Lewis game downgrading the UK Open presumably because Sky don't have it any more.
Something like "Lewis has won two World Championships and its surprising he hasn't won more big trophies.............Uk Open as well but he needs to start winning biggies like the Premier League, Matchplay and Grand Slam".

Sky really annoyed me last night. How could they possibly even try to tell us that last night was an "unforgettable night". It was boring and mostly 1 sided, no drama at all. Murnan might of giving Lewis a scare but it was always going to be a win for Jackpot.
Afternoon session today, anyone know the fixtures?

Standard sky hype, happens all the time now and pointless letting it get to you really. Was surprised at one point to hear mardle preview the mvg game and say he would win comfortably and not hype it up as the bestest game ever.

    Afternoon running order
    King v Gilding
    Bunting v White
    Pipe v J Lewis
    Smith v Price

Not a lot to get excited about really. No doubt sky will think differently...

Usually doesn't bother me, as usually it is some bit exiting but all of last night games really did bore me, Peter Wright had some nice finishes but that was it. Thank you, that session doesn't look too bad. King v Gilding should be close, and Michael Smith is always good to watch.

Was a very good standard from the 4 winners yesterday.
Should be a cracking tournament when it gets to the business end.

Fancy Gilding to beat King this afternoon.

I fancy Gilding , White, Pipe and Smith all to win.

Jaysus that David Croft is another beauty hired by Sky.

King and gilding having a bit of a battle nice comeback by goldfinger there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

Great start to the day what a battle between them thought Merv was going to come back and win it.

Didn't get to see any of last night due to boxing & UFC being on at same time. Forgot about afternoon session, seen end of Bunting White game, Bunting didn't look in it really last few legs. Glad to see the darting diazepam is 6-3 down to Jamie Lewis currently

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Well played Price delighted he bet Smith. But Smith really needs to change his attitude when it comes to tv.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,532 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Vinny unlucky there. Missed double 12 for 9 darter

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

VDV misses D12 for 9 darter in first leg of Sunday night...Rod Harrington said "I was booing along with the crowd when he missed there" haha think they've some charity bets or something going :D

    Taylor v Big John Hendo.
    Thornton v Keegan Brown.
    someone else v someone else.

edit Looking at post #2 the other game must be Chisnail v Caven.

yup Chizzy & Caven, it should be a cracker of a game. Caven (I think) usually does very well against Chizzy, bit of a bogey player

Taking a chance on the Hammer beating Barney tonight.

    Big price.

keegan brown could wrap this up easy if he keeps his composure

People give out about the BBC and ITV camera work, but whoever is in charge of the D16/D8 spotting on Sky tonight is surpassing them all for incompetence.

Barney out. Won't be long before he's gone from the top 16

Thank god for that. The less tournaments we see him in the better, the man has no fight in him atall. Throws in the towel after going a leg or two behind. Never shows up for pro tour or European tour events. He should just pack it in all together.

So true I totally agree he is gone so depressing to watch on TV better off without him.

He's getting money for old rope from them though, a perpetual Premier League wildcard and they even picked him for all their World Series Junkets.
So probably a base salary of around £150K + lots of free holidays before he's even thrown a dart. So why bother with the trivial business of actual competitive darts?
We were way ahead of the curve when giving him an unmerciful booing in City West last year, pity he seems to be still Mr Popular everywhere else as it probably guarantees him another year of wildcard freebies.

Did anyone see Taylors interview before last nights game?
I'm not sure if it was necessarily aimed towards Barney or maybe just a nod to Barry Hearn for future but he made comment about "keeping competitive and not dropping down the rankings to 50-60." He said he couldn't cope doing that and players like that deserve no place in the PL. He said the PL should be kept for the elite players who are winning tournaments

Saw that, but I thought he said "15th or 16th" ? Thought it was a dig at barney too getting invited to these events. The fact barney won the PL last year probably guarantees him another few years in it too as well as his massive following. Can't stand watching a man that just doesn't seem interested at the best of times.

Geez can't a fella exaggerate the figures to fire home a point? :D lol I thought it was 50-60th but very well could have been 15-16th. Still the same principle though.

I've been against Barney for few years now. Really didn't want him in PL for last 2 years but even last(most recent) season he was dire! I think he was close to going out in the 1st relegation and only started playing when his back was firmly against the wall.

Same as last night, he was 8-2 down before he looked interested. I actually thought last night at 8-2 during the ad break to check what odds he was to win(just out of interest) because he can make comebacks and also Hamilton's lost a few big leads in big tournaments.

Ian White is a great bet to beat Whitlock tonight.

Don't think Whitlock has another 98+ average in him.

If White plays near how he did vs Bunting he wins easily.

Bristow's sounding pished everytime I see him now. I know he's never been the easiest to decipher what hes saying but he seems to be slurring worse than before

himself and mardle should be given the boot from commentary, keep bristow for the finish spotting for cameras only

I don't think sly have sank that low to put Bristow on commentary have they?

I wouldn't mind if they are both kept as "pundits" because that way they don't ruin a game while its on and you can turn over(make cup of tea) during games instead of listening to them :D

Oh they have, plenty of times. He was on for one of the early afternoon games on Saturday or Sunday. I guess they have to get some use out of him before he finds the bar.

John Part is the best they've got. I expect we will here more from him as his career winds down.

I think that's a bit harsh tbh, he's not the worst by a long way.

The problem is Sky more than the commentators. Whoever they are, they will always be pushed towards hype and hyperbole. Actually that sounds like a Jane Austen book doesn't it :)

I don't know he was on with mardle on Sunday right at the start now that was a bad combination.

Agree with you about Part easily the best man they have, really provides an insight into the game from a darts players view.

Beats Bristow rambling on about Blackpool being known as the Las Vegas of the north.

Wright below par tonight gilding creeping back into the game

John Part and Chris Mason would be the perfect commentary team. Plenty insight, well spoken and no outrageous hype.

I got White eachway at 50/1 ha. Wishfull thinking but he's a deadly player. Also had Smith and Snakebite. All eachway.

Wow. MvG.. Poor Jamie looks baffled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Jamie is still throwing a 97 average. The difference is Van Gerwen is taking out 2 darters for fun. Hopefully this wont destroy Lewis confidence for future tournaments

Ya Lewis took it well. Didn't drop the head at all. We just talking about Barney earlier, That's how a professional should act Ray.
