    Wait,the squid/kraken thing in Act 1?

Was there not a few things to do before you fought it that gave hints as what to do? I remeber beating it on second go,and thinking it was trivial. Now thats not a boast,im not pretending to be a Witcher legend, great at the game or anything and i still havent finished it but i do remember that being a bit underwhelming with all the build up to the fight. Maybe i just got lucky

Either you had it on easy or you inadvertently grinded leading up to it.

There is one more irritating boss fight, but there is a chance I was very under prepared for it.

Whatever the default difficulty is thats what it was on. I did do all the side quests i could in the area before the fight so maybe that was it.

I must actually finish the game,at the time i had burnt myself out a bit on RPG's,having just played Kingdoms of Amular and a decent bit of Demonicon just before playing the Witcher. I needed a break for a bit but i must go back now, especially seeing as i bought Witcher 3 in anticipation of finishing two and moving onto it and never did!

I still had a few to do, but I don't think that was it. The problem was that it was one of the most counter-intuitive encounters I've had the displeasure of playing through recently, at one point I died because I wasn't facing the right way when I was supposed to grab onto and ride the tentacle (haha, Ride the Tentacle, now there's a title for a cheap ass hentai steam game). In the end it was easy enough when I did everything right, but it was frustrating as hell getting to that point, there was a couple of times where I flat out did not know what I had died from.

Its strange how my experience of it was so much different from most peoples,i really dont know why. Again im no MLG player here, just thats how it went for me.

Currently nothing but Warframe is getting a look in on my currently playing list but im starting to feel the grind a bit in it so now may be the perfect time for me to go back to W2 the odd night to break things up a bit.

Bit more Witcher 2 before dinner there, and I gotta say, the sex scenes are a lot better than in the first. Not up to Wolfenstein standards, but a big improvement. ;)

So unfortunately I had to look up how to defeat that god damn Kayran in The Witcher 2, what an utterly horrible, irritating encounter. I must've died 30 or 40 times, sometimes I didn't even know what killed me. I am glad that is over and done with and I hope there's no other bosses like that in the game.

That fight is the kind that makes you want to fling the controller across the room, it made me happy I use a keyboard!

I think I actually stopped playing for a day or two after dying to that guy like 20 times.

Grind is showing indeed but mostly for the new stuff. We should hook up if you wanna blast enemies away w/ mics.

i found it more hassle with other people, though that might just be a smidge of aspergers thrown into the mix. But yeah, the camera doesnt follow one person, it follows the group so if you've got a crap group you'll never get anywhere .. literally.

Yeah that bugs me a little too, I was stuck in what I'd consider a very bad spot and kept getting shot down because 2 of them wouldn't push forward. Other than that I think it's a good game.

Yeah i enjoyed it for what it was - they could have made it easier to play in multiplayer though. I guess it was done specifically like that for the PS - afaik it was a playstation store game before it was ported to pc

Yeah! It even starts up with the Sony Entertainment, kinda like Rocket League in the sense of it's porting over. What I'm liking most at the moment, I can just nip in and out story free during my exams :p

Well **** that, I think the fight with Letho is even worse than the Kayran! If I was the type to get annoyed at a game, this one would be winding me right up that's for sure, because this sure as hell is a frustrating encounter. :(

It's been months since I played it but I think: you just need tons of patience for that one, always have the shield thing up so you don't take damage, don't over commit in attacks, one or two swipes and back off.

As far as i can remember i cornered him and went all out against him. He wasnt able to do much being pinned against the wall.

Oddly enough, I booted it up and managed to beat him first try. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the Pokerface Flotsam quest, so that's failed now... derp :o I'm into a new chapter, new town. Yesterday I was feeling so frustrated I just wanted to go "Screw it! I'm just firing up Witcher 3 now!" but today it was a breeze.

I find sometimes when im stuggling with a boss or difficult section turning it off and coming back later can be a good idea. Many times i've come back to a bit i struggled with and beat it first time. Just last night i was playing Phantom Pain and kept dying while trying to steal the truck guarded by the skulls. Tried it again today and did it on my first attempt.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

That skulls encounter was easy enough if you stealth it, they'll keep coming for you even if they don't detect you, but they're really slow moving, so you just have to kite them away from the truck and then circle back and Fulton it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,752 ✭✭✭pablomakaveli

Thats what i tried to do in the end. Launched a smoke bombardment when the truck got into camp. They appeared and i crawled to the truck and started attaching the fulton to the truck. That triggered them so i hopped on D-horse and legged it. Got a few hundred metres before i realize the truck was still there (think i must have let go of the button too soon when the skulls noticed me). Then i had to leg it back quickly fulton it again and escape all the while being chased by the skulls.

Was an absolute cluster**** but its moments like that make the game more enjoyable.

I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Solid. I loved it.

Are new ones good...? I don't know why but they just don't appeal to me at all.

Has anyone else played Battleblock Theatre? It's so much fun, playing through it in co-op at the moment, it can be very frustrating (particularly for my wife, who doesn't enjoy 'hard' gaming at all) but worth the effort I think!
