I've had a Z7+ for around 3 months now. I got it solely to run IPTV and its simply the best box there is for that purpose due to the MTVOL app.I would highly recommend it if using for that reason.

I've no bugs in the time i've had the box. Yes the EPG has had slow loading problems but Formuler has released 2 beta fixes(which have all but sorted the problem) with a third due tomorrow so the general release should be in a week or so

Got box and I'm all set up.
The mytvonline is impressive but the epg is a disaster.
Really slow to load epg and its showing wrong programme guide.
Hoping they release the fix shortly.
Apart from epg the channel zapping is lightning fast and the app looks and works great.
Where can I get the beta release for epg does anyone know?
    Cheers

I'm after a solution for a fella who wouldn't be that techy - asked me to get him an android box so he can cancel sky.

Was thinking the z7 would be perfect, but just realised it has a terrestrial, rather than a sat tuner.
Not sure he has an aerial, and thought I could get freesat set up as a backup for when apps go down.

Mightn't be the right thread, but anyone know a comparable android/satellite combo?

A bit off thread topic but if he is is cancelling Sky he will get to keep the box (unless its Sky Q).
It is still possible to receive all the Freesat channels through the box without a sub

^ Understood - just want a single solution, plus not to lose recording facility etc
Have been checking in satellite forum, but most boxes seem to be enigma based..
I'm more used to Android for 'other' apps etc, but might just go with one of those, if I can't find an Android / Sat combo..

    Something like this?
    https://wetek.com/us/en/product/wetek-play2

The Wetek brand is good. I had a core for a few years

Thanks - I had the Play from the group buy, but never actually got to grips with TV Headend - I've no dish here.
Play 2 I hadn't considered, but didn't hear many raving about it?

Have been looking at combo boxes on the satellite sub forum and reckon that'll be best for this use case anyway now..

My own android / kodi set up is hard enough to maintain with all the changes lately, and don't fancy having to support another set up!

If it's not a Q box there's a fella in Wicklow selling FTV cards for less than a tenner. Unblocks a lot of channels that should be fta on it but aren't.
Changes the Epg to the UK one.
Handy if you are used to Sky and don't want to fiddle with retuning channels.
Use it in conjunction with an android box for all the entertainment you need.

You can use LibreELEC or Kodibuntu or many more.

On a side note, Mymemory UK are selling a 120GB Integral P series SDD for £24.99 (around €29)

Got a buzztv xpl 3000 box delivered today.
Have it set up and it's a great interface. Similar to a mag but android too.
    Might sell my formuler z7+.

Had to get it delivered from Canada but wanted to try it out.
    Love it so far.

Thanks. I've tried both, just wondering if there was any other ones or anything better around.

Just to note that SPMC is no longer being developed or maintained, so will die off in the long run. It will be interesting to see what emerges as its replacement.

SPMC is often considered the most stable, but FTMC is often preferred as I am sure you know. (I prefer FTMC on Rockchip devices).
    But there are others.

MyGICA Media Centre is probably the best one, paid (Free version available) and is where the developer of SPMC has gone.
    CEMC - https://kodiforu.com/cemc-apk-download-kodi-fork/
    RKMC - https://www.cnx-software.com/2017/07/03/how-to-install-rkmc-kodi-for-rockchip-app-in-your-tv-box/
    NODI - https://twitter.com/nodinotkodi?lang=en
EBMC - google (site probably not allowed here)
    MrMC - https://mrmc.tv/

    https://kodi.wiki/view/forks

I am sure there are another fair few not mentioned.

Lads I used to have an Android box and it was fine for a while but if you're only using it for Kodi then I recommend the Vero 4K which is based on Linux (OSMC specifically, much easier to upgrade)

https://osmc.tv/vero/ on sale now £99,  with 5 years of software updates

If the maker of the Android box abandons the device with no Android updates a year later, you're stuck if Kodi update needs the latest version

I don't work for them or anything I just really like the kit.

Most of the manufacturers are moving to AndroidTV. Not sure what the delay for some of them is, but might be some standards that have to be met before Google will give a certification.

Two are on sale at the minute on Geekbuying

Hi, I've got an amazon gift voucher for 55 Pounds and I'm thinking to spend it on an android box. Could anyone recommend one as I'm afraid some of them might be junk. I'm may spend a bit more than the 55, maybe up to 70. I'd like the system on it to be as raw android as possible.

Edit: Does anyone have this one: Specs seem good at least - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Timmery-Android-Supporting-Wireless-Set-Top-Box/dp/B0797VJ5K5/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1524845221&sr=1-9&keywords=android+box

If you could hold on, it probably will not be long before the AndroidTV devices start showing up on Amazon UK, or you could go for the Mi Box

    folks

What box would you recommend for someone who isn't too techy. It will be used only for IPTV and would need to be as straightforward as possible to use.
I will set it up but would be looking for something with minimal up keep on it.

Don't envisage anything else on it bar IPTV.
