Actually, you may be right. Thought it was a modded pc version, but seems like it's not. Some of the other Fallout 4 screenshots i've seen (and i'm trying to not see many) look a lot better though.

Mods though...we really do have it pretty sweet with Bethesda games. Shame the console gamers don't get to experience them (yet).

    Also, that's New Vegas :P

So where is everyone preordering from? Cdkeys? Or is there anywhere cheaper?

Ah my bad. I forgot that F3/NV were separate because I'm so used to the Tale of Two Wasteland mods that combined both games. I never fully used that mod, though. Typical of me... install 1billion mods and get bored after an hour of play then uninstall.

They'll be available on XBONE but I can't see it being good at all. The first mods I look for is killable children (and killable important NPCs these days tbh) because Bethesda make the most annoying children in video game history. Such a mod (and many many others) would never pass whatever Xbox vetting process they have. They'll only let mods that don't break the hardware, cause crashes or go against what they think is the 'proper experience'. With the feminists getting rid of content and changing laws by screaming and poining to their C:/ drives, I doubt any good mods will be available or remain available. They'll probably also censor a lot of creativity, controversial mods and anything with copyrighted content is out of the window. So in other words it's a no-fun-allowed situation for modding on console... probably.

They said they won't charge for mods but there's no way in hell they won't monetise it when Valve is trying to do so. I bet you my left nut you'll need a subscription to XBL in order to avail of 'free' mods. On PC I'm thinking (and hoping) the community will still largely stick to nexus and another few sites that don't censor whatever nexus does. Steam's workshop is handy but I would never use it for a Bethesda game. Workshop is also subject to censoring. It's not like they can sell Thomas the Tank Engine dragons for $4.99 as that would infringe copyright. And I loved the trolls when payed mods first appeared. 100 quid for horse genitalia was the best trolling ever and made a complete joke of the system.

Can't wait for the mod that makes your wife/husband and child just a pair of dogs. Turns out you never had a family - the radiation got to your cerebral cortex causing you to hallucinate the whole thing.

Take a breath for yourself ffs. It says in the Fallout 4 EULA all mods must be distributed free of charge.

We'll see about that, won't we? Do you honestly see users with no XBL subscription being able to use mods? I mean, it could happen... I just don't see it being likely. Especially if fully free mods are in comparison to payed DLC later down the line.

And what's with the attitude? Did I trigger you or something?

Ah, fair enough. Bored at the office.

As opposed to decapitating, mutilating and cannibalising an entire town and then proceeding to nuke it? All doable without a single mod.

It's FALLOUT. Although Skyrim is the thing that made me want to install killable kids right away. Dragon's attacking and NPCs being invincible broke the immersion. I think I would've cared more about the story if I had seen first hand the dragon burning a child alive. Really drive the message home about how much destruction they cause in an instant. I read someone who installed it gave some of the kids who died during the attack a burial sea by pushing their bodies into the water. Powerful stuff, that. Much better than watching a farmer try to punch a dragon in the face unarmed while vital NPCs glitch in the corner taking no damage until the dragon loses interest.

I'll always remember spending hours trying to kill Vivec in Morrowind, just to see what would happen. Game was perfectly fine with you doing it, you just got a message saying you wouldn't be able to complete the main queue now.

    Pip Boy Edition Unboxing:

Glad I didn't bother with this after seeing that. I wouldn't mind the case but the pip boy looks very plasticy and I think it'd be incredibly awkward to use it as a second screen while using kbm as well.

Actually since the kids in new reno (Fallout2)pickpocketted ye and ye had to buy your gear back from them - just shoot them instead :P the F2 vanilla game didnt ever allow ye to do that but the mods did and i think it just carried over into the sequels

Not bad, not as bad as the current hysteria on reddit and elsewhere anyway.

The Pipboy on his wrist in a couple of those pics looks a lot like the cheap brown yoke in the unboxing videos aswell...

I'm quite happy with how they look. It was never going to be an amazing looking game, but they look fine from what i can see.

Plus, maybe we'll get a high res texture pack like we did with Skyrim.

The graphics don't bother me but the UI just feels odd to me, like they hadn't completed the style of font or someone had photoshopped in some text and graphics.

But, I'm functionality over appearance so if it does it's job I'll forget about it quick enough.

Excuse me? Can you show me where "feminists" have changed anything in games? Otherwise kindly take your nonsense and replace it with some actual knowledge.

Do you even know what feminism is? It's the idea that all people are the same no matter what's between their ears or legs.

There's an unfortunate trend recently for insane screaming women on the internet to attack all sorts of things for all sorts of insane reasons and call themselves feminists while doing so, which as unfortunately led to a lot of people thinking feminism is something it isn't.

No idea what he's talking about with content being removed.

Agree with me or not, I think the overraction from people about fairly tame things in games is partly because of 3rd wave feminism.
    Shiminay wrote: »

I do. Do you know what 3rd wave feminism is? Have you observed it in action in recent years? Gender politics, nothing to do with equality, ridiculous obsession with wording rather than serious issues that effect some of the most vulnerable women in the world. I'm not saying there aren't modern feminists who don't care. I'm just saying that the majority of them have would not purposely self identify themselves as feminists because of how crazy the modern movement presents its self in a lot of first world countries. I'm technically a feminists too but I'd never call myself one either. You can say I should... but I won't. Because I don't need no man and can do what I want :pac:

If you want a modern feminist who does care and self identifies as a feminst, check out factualfeminist she has a youtube channel and I absolutely love her videos.

Remember Matt Taylor? Feminists do. Not for his scientific help in landing a spacecraft on a comet... but because his shirt made them cry. Meanwhile women in some countries get acid thrown in their face. I fail to see 3rd wave feminists give a crap about other women in need or even people overall.
    Shiminay wrote: »

Oh wow. And you ask ME what feminism is? It has nothing to do with anyone being the same because of genitalia or brains (which we clearly have differences in). It's about equal opportunities and fair treatment of women and also men by proxy. Men and women are not the same in many ways and if you think they are or try to teach people that then you're a 3rd wave feminist mouth piece.

Sorry for crappingup a Fallout 4 thread with this. Hope everyone's feeling good about Fallout 4 hype. I know I am for the mods :P

Glad we got all that feminist stuff out of the way.

When do you think we can expect a mod that replaces all the female characters with anime superwomen with giant boobs and ludicrously impractical armor?

    Day 1.

With any luck the community is already working on the assets.

Who doesn't want giant, green and muscly super mutant boobs?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

I don't think it unfair to suggest that so-called 3rd Wave Feminism has anything even remotely to do with actual feminism - so let's stop calling it that because these are the sorts of Triggered Tumblr Brigade idiots that have turned it into a dirty word and do nothing but set things back for equality. By the sounds of it, you and I are on the same page Mr Ninja, but our choice of words let us both down :) Hi-5's all round and sorry for the derailment folks).

Getting back on track, I was very pleased to see the EULA stating that mods must be free. I've never played one of these Bethesda games unmodded, I'm tempted to leave off buying this till mid next year when the usual smattering of community fixes and improvements for the niggly things that should've been done one way instead of another roll out.

Minimum Pc requirements seem very high, higher than Gta v. I'm able to (just about) run Gta V on my current Pc but I don't meet any of the minimum requirements for this, in graphics card, memory or processor.
Are Bethesda being overly cautious? Or do I just need to actually upgrade?
