20gb is nothing these days really not for a game of this scope anyways.

    If you're on a 5mb connection, it'll be a big deal.

Not everybody can get access to 150mb speeds.

I have a crap connection at the minute but compared to gta V at 55gb and things like ryse and wolfenstein over 30gb the 20gb for a game like fallout doesn't seem so bad to me. Will still take me the guts of 8 hours to download it though if im lucky...

I'm certainly not disagreeing with that. I just remember the days before I had a 150mb connection and it was a right PITA.

Now, I can just download a game in minutes.

I just think if companies are going to put their games on disk, then put the whole feckin thing on, instead of this kind of jip.

It's an underhanded thing to do.

Yeah I agree if it's on disc it should just install from disc. I believe my steam copy of skyrim did that as it was from the elder scrolls anthology. I think it took only a small download of steam related files but the majority came off the disc.

Pretty sure my internet is faster than most optical media these days anyway.

    30 quid for 12 bottles?

    They can feck right off.

    I wouldn't pay 30 caps for that.

It's a problem for the many people who have zimbabwe-tier download speeds, throttling and data-caps. If they're not going to sell a physical backup of the game then they should have stopped the waste of resources, time and money that publishing a disc is and just sell F4 as receipt or card with an activation key on it for whatever platforms it's releasing on. (is it just steam?). It's also incredibly misleading to the consumer.

I haven't bought physical in years but that's atrocious that there's no option there for people who need and want it. It's also not new at all, they've been doing this with many releases. I think it was even the case with previous fallout games but worse because GFWL.

These days it's cheap as hell to buy a large pack of discs so you can burn your own physical backups but you still need to have a DRM client installed on the system to play them. If anyone is going to make a physical backup Fallout 4 I'd say it would be best to package in a crack with it so it's actually a proper backup. I used to print off my own custom game covers as well even for some console games. Mostly it was just the original art but with all the age warnings and crappy review quotes stripped from it.

4gb on disc and 20 gb to download if you buy disc version.

Anyone with **** internet should be outraged.

That is a bit stupid. Why even bother with a disc version then? At least include 2 or 3 DVD's if that's the case. I'm surprised the game is just 24GB though...that's actually quite small for a game of this scope. GTA V for example is almost 3 times bigger at 60GB+.

The Witcher 3 is about the same, around 27GB (on XB1 at least)

Day one piracy, it removes that from the equation.

As a **** i can agree with that logic as lets be honest it will be the most pirated game of the year and they just protecting it.

"rumour" it will contain new steam drm that they hope will make it harder to crack on day one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

Even stronger DRM? Man they really like to feck over paying customers. And it's just going to be cracked in the end anyway... so once again the pirates and crackers get the superior version with the former at 100% discount.

Also people who buy physical by choice are usually the more loyal customers.

    They'll never get it.

    Anything digital can be hacked.

DRM is just a fake business.

Hello folks, thought I would share this bargain - cdkeys . com have Fallout 4 on for £27.99 and if you go to cd keys facebook page and like it and click the ad for 5 % discount. Anyway thought I would share as I just bought mine. Reedeming it on Steam now.

*edit i must wait "This product is a Pre-Order, it will be avaliable here on or slightly before the release date of 10th November 2015. "

I thought I could preinstall now and wait till release. Anyway got it for £26.59 it's normally £39.99. So in yoyos thats €36.96 instead of the €60. enjoy!

Not bad, almost half price. according to the FAQ (lifted from the website)

    4. PC Games

How do I redeem/activate my cd key for a PC game?

This varies depending on the pc game publisher/developer, the main ones are outlined below:
Steam 1. Launch Steam and login to your Steam account.
    2. Click the Games Menu.
    3. Choose Activate a Product on Steam.
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
Origin 1. Login to Origin with the EA account you would like your game added to.
    2. Click on the Origin menu on the top left.
    3. Select "Redeem Product Code"
    4. Enter the serial key from the back of your game manual.
    5. The game will be added to your "My Games" section of Origin.

I should add that I have no affiliation to cd key, I just saw it there and thought it was a good excuse for a useful first boards post.

Big fan of fallout since the early isometric games, really looking forward to playing it in 2 weeks. (Might even take some days off work!)

Indeed. Why would you even post it ?
It can do nothing other than ruin the surprise of certain things for people.

I shared it to let people decide if they wanted to click it or not.

It doesn't really contain any spoilers anyway, I assumed it would but after clicking now it doesn't.

Big Leagues perk looks good, but I've never put any points into Melee in any of my Fallout characters (it just wasn't beneficial in the early game when there would be a big mob and you had to run up to each of them) some of the weapons were hilarious though.
It says a 'chance' to do cripple or knock their heads off...I'd like to know the % .

Does anyone put points into Melee here ?

I've main'd unarmed for most of my builds. Can't be disarmed, never run out of ammo, concealable, gets by security checks, has some of the best critical/knockdown/stun effects, enhancement weapons and augmentations are fun as feck, no weapon repair (aside from broken limbs).

I found picking up large objects like barrels and holding them in front of me shielded me from a large amount of gunfire so I close the distance for a nice uppercut.

They really fecked up hand-to-hand in Skyrim and I'm not excited for F4 for many reasons. Thankfully there's always mods.. The perk mods are so good.
