I had my suspicions it was an old 'friend' of Boards.

I suspect, like all the best epigrams, that's one of Oscar Wilde's.

    Or Cary Grant, or someone.

Of course it is. If in doubt go for Oscar.

No, HALF a question only. I'll keep it for when I half guess something else, so I can then ask a full one. :pac:

Sorry for the delay - here's one:

What is special about the two cities Canberra (Aus) and Wellington (NZ)?

They're capitals but not the largest cities.

    Too obvious?

    Aren't they "sister cities"?

How about the 2 most southerly capital cities in the World?

(and/or the 2 most southerly that are not the largest cities in their respective countries :pac:)

None of these things are the special relationship between them I'm looking for!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,887 ✭✭✭IrishZeus

Neither of them were the original capital cities of their respective countries?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,799 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

This is something exclusive to the two cities named. So not being the biggest, being purpose built etc are not in the running.

Some great answers, but not the one I'm looking for :D

Apologies, I normally go for straight down the line trivia questions and they get gobbled up in 30 seconds so trying something a bit less googleable this time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,799 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

Another clue, what I'm looking for is a distinction the two share with one another. They share, it in a sense, because of one another. It's a distinction that a city could potentially hold on its own under certain conditions.

Can't see this one being answered at this stage to be honest. You might owe us an answer and another question :D

Are you insinuating that we resort to google to answer these questions?!? I am shocked and appalled, Sir, shocked and appalled!

(If I did, I'd get more right... :o)

I'll give another clue then, this will probably give it away.

Kinshasa and Brazzaville share a related distinction.

Is it something to do with being states and cities?

Nope. The fact that they are capitals is relevant though.

Is that they're both not the original capital of their country but were picked because of their centrality?

The distinction these two hold share is of the capital city closest to another country's capital city.
