Or the bolt holding it on may have been torqued too tight and sheared.
If you were going to rob a mans machine, you'd bring a "spare" tine when you were at it....

Dont think so as no Mark's at all visible

That is the problem with a lot of CCTV footage, you can see the little scrotes in the act but could you be sure and identify them as little Johnny from over the road... You might even be able to identify the clothes they are wearing but unless you can be fairly sure of the face you are wasting your time.
You would nearly need one of the Netwatch systems that catches them in the act and tells them to feck off but they are seriously expensive.
There may be more hi-tech ways especially if they carry a mobile phone.

University or somewhat was broken into at night and they caught the perps from their mobile phone signiture on their Wi-Fi network.
Even Facebook comunicates between phones. I'm usually able to know who was on the latest milk collection here just by the friend suggestions on the phone.

You can set most CCTVs to email when motion is detected, you can even zone areas of screen if there is a lot of natural movement. Beam breaks to detect movement and issue alerts either.

They are pin protected but you can reprogram them if you have the recovery code.

Phones can only verify a person (or their phone) was within a certain area based on pings of masts, not exact location.

You're right about the university one...but.... they were only caught because they were students of that university and the phones they were carrying automatically logged on to the wifi network once they were within range.

The algorithms Facebook/Google/Instagram etc. use to suggest contacts based on who you've called/Whatsapp'd etc. is frightening.
