I don’t know it, but those wheels do it no justice!

That's a very fair price. A teacher of mine had one. He used to tow a trailer with 6 canoes and 4 of us in the car off to the river Boyne from Lucan. I'll give the little car credit, it seemed to be well able for it.

It'd be a shame to see this gone out of the country

    That's a fantastic little car.

Yes it appears to be in reasonable condition. Perhaps suitable for running without restoration. They were never likely to set the pulse racing but sold well enough in the eighties. It's not his usual stock so maybe a bargain to be had.

Loadsa test, loadsa tax, nice colour (but dark wheels do it no favours :o) - €3900

    Posted with permission!

Loadsa saves on DoneDeal, just one very nice Polish lad came to see it, eager to buy it, but had to run it past his wife as it would be her daily driver. Good luck with that mate, I guess she doesn't like old cars :D

In other words => still for sale. What do you guys think? Just a slow market or am I doing something wrong here, wrong price? This really is a very, very good car. Everything working, the paint looks fresh, rims and sills are perfect. Getting lots of compliments driving around.

I think your ad could be much better.

Your photos should show the four external corners of the car; front offside corner, rear offside corner, rear nearside corner, front nearside corner. To fill space you could take two dead on side shots too but they're not entirely necessary if you execute the four corners method well.

I think its best to go on a nice evening to a nice residential area for photos. If you'll forgive the shamelessness of it, I'll use the photos from my most recent ad as an example:

    NGE2YjJlMDU0YTE0YzU2NDAyMmVkZjI0ZTNiOWYwYTVukOlMKIdttPG1yvdWg-UZaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b18xMjIwNDg0OTh8fHw2MDB4NjAwfHx8fHx8fHw=.jpeg

Do you have a good camera? I have a Canon DSLR thingy that cost me about €400 three years ago. I use it for more than just cars, but it has pretty much paid for itself with great photos for many ads since I got it. They can be got cheap enough these days, I sold another one there a few months back for €200. The difference in quality between the Canon and my iPhone 8+ is clear as day, the phone doesn't come close.

Also on the interior photos, use this template (I saw it on a traders forum last year and have used it since, its brilliant)

You're getting the dashboard, steering wheel, doorcard etc in here while still showing the seats

    YmQ3ZDhiMWE5NzljMTI5M2UxNzUzNTVmMDNjNmQ2NDXmOq8mzl-Ehd8wR0AjwjFiaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b18xMjIwNDg1MDR8fHw2MDB4NjAwfHx8fHx8fHw=.jpeg

Show off the full seats, bolsters etc

    ZDU3N2RlMTEwOTMyOGIzYWM2YjQyZTRjYWJjNGFmZmKg8oQi9k2RLk41MZCL4wJZaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b18xMjIwNDg1MDV8fHw2MDB4NjAwfHx8fHx8fHw=.jpeg

What history do you have? If theres a lot (including books, owners manuals etc) photograph it and put it in the ad (extra points for crucifix in shot :P)

    ZTE4YzEyN2IyZWU3MjBjYWRkOTY4Y2Y3NTkzYzFhYzELORsWS4z7EGDyU7xNzyYuaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b18xMjIwNTk5MjF8fHw2MDB4NjAwfHx8fHx8fHw=.jpeg

    Finally, talk about the car!

    1987 Mercedes-Benz 190 Automatic
    (x) Previous owners
    90,000 Miles
NCT until November 2019, tax until 2020
    Excellent condition inside and out
    Perfect mechanical condition

What work has been done recently (in the last few years even)? Insert here. Try to make a small paragraph of it and make it personal, I did this, the pervious owner did that etc

Concluding thoughts here, again make it personal. It would make a lovely classic daily driver, say why. Mention classic insurance, tax, that it is reliable, and that its classic but still modern. Don't forget to say how great the 190 is. Mention you imported the car yourself (afaik you did) etc

Also, put a first name in the contact details.

With best respects, too many aspects of you ad say to me; this guy is a trader. People would prefer to buy from genuine owners (I don't get this, I always say; you're buying the car, not the seller..but alas I'm in the minority here) so make it genuine-looking.

I had one caller to view my 320SL after I bumped it on DD. First time around I got 1100 views and this time 450 plus so far. Anyway this lad turns up and gives the car a looking over, very enthusiastic, knew a bit about the R129's. He couldn't prove to me that he had insurance so I drove him about in it. He said he was expecting funds over the weekend so he would be in touch. He rang me today to say that his expected funds didn't arrive.

God's honest truth ...... he was expecting a Lotto win this weekend but it didn't happen!

    He looked normal

That Corolla is top notch. If I were you I’d hang onto it if possible, we had one exact same, it was 98 blue and regret it to the day we got rid of it......

I'd often factor the storage into the price if I'm looking at a classic , how much would it have cost me to mind this for the last 30 years ? However notwithstanding this logic I think a lot of classics are way overpriced , considering how long it can take to shift one quickly.

I know the e11 is a bit of an ugly duckling in the Corolla family, but when I see stuff like this or the price of any DX Corolla, I think to myself; I'll regret having sold that lovely 97 e11 in 2019 for peanuts!!

As far as hot rods go it belongs back in the 70's.
Irish reg? anyone know who built it, a lot of work to turn it into a coupe or is it another number plate transfer jobby.
But like you say, not a lot of money.

    Bit of a project.
Could be got for 1500, spent 2k on it. Would it be worth 5k then?

Again I know this car and its owner. He buys and sells as a hobby and most of his cars are very good. This one is absolutely stunning. I cannot find words to describe just how good this car is and its worth every penny of the asking. I am actually surprised he is selling.

Never seen a car go up as much, usually Mark it down after a few weeks.

    Must be inflation :)
