    Brilliant stuff, fully deserved.

Tony, Dan and now Aussie to get HOTY and all on teams that didn't contest an All Ireland.

That is some testament to them all.

So thrilled for Aussie, probably the greatest crowd puller in hurling for a long time.

As Ken said he puts bums on seats!

Congrats to Barron and Gleeson but in all fairness very surprised Gleeson got POTY.
I thought Callinane would get it but thought Maher deserved it.

I'd agree we'll get 2, possibly 3. Gleeson a shoe in of course

I reckon there is a chance to make a few quid on the other one in the PP market.

    Gleeson is 1/100 and unbackable

Next shortest Waterford player is Connors at 4/1 followed by Paudie at 13/2. Moran and Barron both 10/1.

Considering most likely ones are odds on it is a matter of getting the likely Waterford second All Star.

Think that Moran and Barron in the middle are fantastic value at 10/1

Had to dig up this post from August, hope some of ye got on the 10/1 monies for Barron

Some achievement by Aussie and both he and Barron are thoroughly deserving winners.

POTY selected by other players, not hacks, which probably explains why Aussie got it. The best result really, all things considered.

Absolutely delighted for Jamie Barron, he's been our most consistent hurler all year.

Brilliant to see a great hurler getting recognition without the column inches.

Huge congrats to Aussie, proud and delighted for him. Must say I was surprised though, thought Callinan was a shoe-in. Michael Ryan coming on stage to announce the winner just added insult to injury... they must have thought the whole thing was set up for a Callinan win!! Gas to see the Tipp crowd on social media up in arms over it, some very very bitter stuff being bandied about, but haven't come to expect anything better over the years. Even some former players, Ive yet to see anyone congratulate Gleeson. At the end of the day the players voted and who better to judge.

He didn't want to fight for his place

IIRC It was generally expected Power and Socky would fight it out for the number one spot. Iggy was brought in to the equation by Ryan which surprised many at the time. Socky and Iggy shared the first few games of the league that year. Training games saw 1 keeper playing outfield as a result of having 3 on the panel and the rumour was Power told him what he thought of it. The private links between Iggy and Ryan left Power a bit aggrieved it would seem.
Now I think Socky was marginally the best of the three anyway. I think Power left for the US shortly after, don't think he has featured for Ballyduff since. Anyone know does he play for a club over there or is he even still there?
That was it in a nutshell but Power wasn't up to it either. Very talented but a total liability. The king of brain-farts

The Glen, Thurles sars, Na piarsigh,

James Stephens, Fenians and ballyhale have 3 seperate winners (Ballyhale have the most with 5 awards, henry shefflin having three)..

When you think it, Ballyhale Shamrocks fielding a club side, with three hurlers of the year in the same side (henry, fennelly and Tj) is ridiculous... they could have had a 4th in cha fitzpatrick if he didnt waste his talent

Cha has still won more honors at 21 than any other player in the history of the Gaa ,some player ,himself and Derek Lyng in midfield were outstanding ,we were hard pushed to handle those two even with the Brick and Stephen Molumphy at their best

He is regulary referenced as being the most skillful midfielder by his fellow players on that great Kilkenny team. Yet he didnt even play until his prime, he was ridiculously good yet he was gone before we saw the best of him. He should still be doing the business for Kilkenny for another few years.

Thats why i said he was hurler of the year material
