I hate a flash of fear earlier in the day when I saw that Apple have a press conference on the 27th. I had a moment of thinking that it the NX could just be a partnership with Apple and the controller fit on an iPad.

Some things floating around the web since the announcment:

- NX won't use Wii branding in any way
- Possible price reveal as there will be separate region streams
- Name revealed
- Zelda NX will be shown

Edit: - At least 3 developers are waiting for the NX announcement to be done so they can announce software themselves.

Finally an official announcement! Happy days.



So, what can they show us in 180 seconds? Fingers crossed we see some unexpected games (new F-Zero/Mario/Metroid Prime please), the machine itself and the official name (kind of hoping it's not NX - that's stale at this stage). Best set an alarm for 3pm so I don't forget.

If it's only 3 minutes they are only teasing us It couldn't give the full reveal in 3 minutes More like a few game trailers and then when it's just about to show it in the flesh the video will end and we will have to wait again I bet.

Have to laugh at the fact the thread for this on neogaf is already at 84 pages.

Think I'll avoid here until I get home from work and watch it myself. I just hope they have shown the video to people already to be sure it gets the point across and not cause the same confusion the WiiU reveal did.

I expect a minute to 90 secs showing the console and controller(s) and how they work followed by a package showing off upcoming games. We're close enough to the release to have a lot of gameplay of launch games

@safetyboy: Region free is great! 32GB of space is garbage (how much of that will be used by the OS?) but at least it has SD card support (micro?) - as long as games can be stored and run from SD then fine.

From this Ign link Nintendo are quoted as saying it will be a "first glimpse", a "preview trailer" and that it "will serve as Nintendo's preliminary announcement of information regarding the platform" - hmmm, doesn't sound like it will be full of details. They better show the machine itself and not just trailers of games that are due out for it at some point in the future! An actual image of the finished unit will send people's interest (and the speculation) sky high.

I wonder if PSVR is going to be affected by this new hardware release.
Realistically this Christmas is not the PSVR one they dream of, that is more likely to be next year.
And now there is going to be a new piece of Nintendo hardware one the market, and potentially not just one more less than stellar home machine, this time it may be tapping into to market that Nintendo owns, the handheld market.
I'd say Sony will still command this home hardware gen, but I'd say the Pro is a much harder sell.
I'd say MS are busy innovating their way out of the console game, with their prime platform becoming a Steam clone on PC and their consoles are looking less and less interesting by the hour.
Nintendo have a real chance to become, once again, the common phrase to describe videogaming. Let's hope they don't squander our trust in them.
