Context needed here. Sabine has several thousand laps of the Nurburgring under her belt. Clarkson does not. She knew it like the back of her hand. Shes faster than most round there.

If you recall when they raced in identical cars on an unfamiliar track the following season, she couldn't lose him. He stayed right with her.

I'm not for one second questioning her ability, but that wasn't the best example of it.

Clarkson himself has described himself as a ham-fisted idiot. Not in a million years could he ever touch her laptimes. Hence the presence of the Stig, he is the only one out of the presenters who can get consistent lap times.

Which is why I never suggested otherwise. I merely added some context to the idea that hes so slow, he nearly got beaten by a van.

Clarkson isn't slow by any means, he obviously has good car control to be able to get into just about any car and make it go sideways, I don't remember hearing of him crashing to many cars either. I'd say he is a fast driver but a professional driver would be another step above fast, especially a good one like Sabine.

Maybe they're still doing it with the new lineup.

They drove them all already for the magazine, I'd say that's a pic from the article.

The problem is still Ferrari not allowing lap timings or any data recording. Motor Trend just released a video of their P1 vs 918 shoot out, Ferrari intervened to ensure a lined-up private owner couldn't lend his LaFerrari as no timing allowed by contract.

Never knew Ferrari where chicken. Enzo would give them all a clip round the ear and told to man up.

I don't think the Ferrari is as good through the corners. It's got a better top speed, it would eventually beat the P1 in a straight line.

The P1 has some major advantages on track, when the car is lowered and the wing up it's coming close to GT3 performance around corners. The ferrari is higher and softer and it's supposed to be a bit loose in the corners which doesn't help with lap times.

I don't think Ferrari should be hiding because of that, it's probably more fun to drive thanks to that looseness.

They where beaten round the track by a Caterham! :D:P
But at least they where man enough to go out there and be measured. And the kind of person that will buy a Veyron will not go for a Caterham instead.

Ferrari make the best Ferrari's in the world. They don't necessarily make the best cars in the world.

The Best Car... In The World isn't actually built anymore and it is the 1930 Duesenberg Model J Walker La Grande Torpedo Phaeton. This is largely in the view of this Internet Crank, nota bene. :D

Forget your Lambergattis, THAT is a car that'll drop knickers (or y-fronts) everywhere it goes.

Imagine some dashing boun-DAAAH (or possibly a cad) type, scarf swinging wildly in the breeze, coming tear-arsing into the forecourt barking "You there, boy! Fill it with the petroleum distillate and vulcanize the tyres at once, there isn't a moment spare!" :D

It's a toss up between that and the driving gloves and sherry type:

"I say, madam, I can't possibly let you wait for the omnibus in this frightful downpour. Do hop in and accompany me to the old pile for a bracing pick-me-up and a game pie!"

Be very careful of these fellas - a lot of 'em are the "Awfully sorry old fruit, seem to have forgotten the old wallet. Must've left it in the Jaaaaag!" type. :D

Nah, he's straight out of some Janes Austen shyte. That guy probably wouldn't even drive a new-fangled motor-car in case it frightened the hawses. :pac:

Not at all. Though, in truth, he has a Man to do the driving. All the better to regal you with tales of what happened in the chukkas over a wee nip of something warming in the back.

He's gone. The world keeps revolving around its axis, and night still follows day.
