Not a bad day. Thanks to moon racer, I've ended up 43 in profit, from what started as a five euro bet this morning. :)

    1.30 - Nichols Canyon 4/1

A classy performer on the flat and apart from a blip at Leopardstown has looked very good over hurdles. Last time out he was very impressive and jumped excellent scoring pretty easily from Windsor Park who re-opposes today. NC has lots of speed but I also think he'll have enough stamina for the trip. I expected him to be shorter than 4s.

    2.05 - The Young Master 11/2

4/4 over fences(disqualified for being ineligible in the Badger Ales), The Young Master brings a good level of form into this. You need a tough hardy horse to win the RSA and plying his trade in tough handicaps all year will stand him in good stead here.

    2.40 - Aux Ptits Soins 10/1

Going purely on the French form of this I'm going to have a little bet on APS, he beat a subsequent listed winner on his final start over in France and had Arbre De Vie behind him on his debut(Won twice since for Willie Mullins looking very impressive in the process). Nicholls has said he'll come on for this but at 10/1 it's worth an e/w play.

    3.20 - Sprinter Sacre 4/1

There was something missing from SS on his comeback, he seemed to have lost a little bit of that sparkle and that air of invincibility about him but as a comeback run it was still a pleasing return. I'm hoping he will come on for it and can't leave him alone at the price. Betting aside I would love to see even a bit of the old SS back today.

    4.00 - Any Currency 6/1

Not a race I'll be going mad on but Any Currency has a good record around the Cross Country course, last years run was a cracking run behind the legend Balthazar King and he warmed up for this with an easy 12 length win over C&D in December. A 9 pound rise makes things difficult but he should run a good race, I'm also interested in Quantitiveeasing who was behind AC last time out and will have a small saver on him.

    4.40 - Arabian Revolution 10/1

A very tricky contest but I like the form of AR behind the very impressive Beltor.

    5.15 - Moon Racer 8/1 & Supasundae 12/1

Two animals I've been hugely impressed with so far.

    Two winners, that'll do.

Moon Racer reminded me of Liberman in that they bought him from Ireland had one run early in the season and then put him away for this.

I like when a trainer puts one away for this early.

Ran well for a long way, faded a bit at the end but still finished 6th. Promising run.

    1.30 Cheltenham

    Windsor Park 5/1

Skybet are running are running a great promotion of money back if you come 2nd or 3rd in the Neptune which looks well worth taking up and although he's a bit shorter in the betting than I expected and although his form is probably the weakest of those towards the front of the market I think he's been campaigned to peak for this by Dermot Weld and I think he'll really appreciate the stiff 2m5f trip, quick ground and tempo of the race. Having shown progressive form in bumpers before winning his 4th start in that sphere, Windsor Park was then switched to the flat to twice win convincingly in the Autumn before embarking upon his novice hurdling career. Having run out a decent winner on his hurdling debut over 2m4f at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting, Windsor Park was stepped into Grade 2 Company on his next start towards the end of January where I thought he ran a bit flat in behind another of the market leaders that day in Outlander but it wasn't an awful effort and I thought he put in a really eye catching display on his last start. In the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown, Windsor Park was held up towards the rear of the field in the 2m2f contest and he did make a few novicey errors in the contest. However, he did stay on eye catchingly into 2nd in a race that wasn't run to suit as he failed to reel in Nichols Canyon - who is currently vying for favouritism. Although he's got a bit of ground to make up with him on that run, I'm very confident he can turn the tables around as that rival got an uncontested lead and could dictate at his own pace which wouldn't have suited this 6 year old and I think Windsor Park will relish the quicker tempo of this contest. Moreover, I definitely think he'll improve for the step up in trip whilst I feel Windsor Park has been brought along patiently by Weld. There are dangers aplenty in this 10 runner contest but if Davy Russell can get him into a nice rhythm early on I'm confident he can come out on top in this.

    5.15 Cheltenham

    Moon Racer 9/1

Willie Mullins saddles 7 in this which shows you how open this contest is and, for all I'm not very confident, I've been very impressed by the two performances Moon Racer has put up when winning both starts to date and for all David Pipe's record in this is very poor he's the one that has my money. After springing a huge shock when providing 84 year old trainer Michael Ronayne his first winner on debut at Fairyhouse back in April last year (beat some good horses), Moon Racer was sold for £225,000 at the sales and was sent to the David Pipe yard where he proved that run was no fluke as he ran out an emphatic scorer of his 2nd start in a Cheltenham bumper back in October and those two runs are probably the 2 most visually impressive performances I've seen in this field. He's been saved for this and although this is a completely different ball game I think he'll certainly hold his own in this company. I don't think anyone could be overly confident in a field of this nature, I'm hopeful for a good run and I wouldn't put anyone off having a few quid each way.

First and last race double will do for the day.

Some of below are AP prices.

Neptune: Nichols Canyon 6/1 - a very underrated horse, a bit like UDS and Faugheen I can see himself and Ruby up with pace. I know he's fallen but his jumping is low and accurate and I think it'll be an asset today. Not too worried about the ground given it's still a bit dead, wouldn't trust Outlander in a battle whereas I can see NC putting his head down all the way to the line. Can't be having The Parlour Games/ Vyta Du Roc form at all with Blacklion letting it down since and outside I like and have backed ew is Beast of Burden at 14/1. He may require further but he's been very impressive so far and what caught my eye was when Townend was quizzed in RP last week about the Mullins monsters he mentioned being keen for Willie to hopefully free him up for the BOB ride even though Mullins had a host in race at the time.

RSA: Don Poli 2/1 - Kings Palace has beat little and will fall into a hole at bottom of hill. Place lay. Between DP and TYM but having won over 2m4 over hurdles last year I'd expect him to just prove that bit classier.

Coral Cup: Un Atout ew 14/1 - is clearly classy and the vibes have been good. Nice weight, trip, ground and return should see him feature with 5 places available ew.

Queen Mother: Sprinter Sacre 3/1 (in double with Faugheen) - not as confident as I was to be honest having been mightily impressed with SDG at Chepstow and not a fan previously. Goes without saying though that SS is the best horse in the race and with ground more suitable, more match practice if he's ever going to win another QM it'll be today. I'm confident he'll travel though the race lest and hopeful he'll finish best.

Cross County: Duke of Lucca 7/1 & Toutancarmont 7/1 ew - followed Aidan on the former and the French horse is 10/14 in Criss Country races and not sure this is the strongest.

Bumper: Moon Racer 12/1 & Jetstream Jack 20/1 - Can't be having the Mullins horses in this, if they don't know their best how can we? Like the Pipe horse - he beat the impressive Tycoon Prince in irleand before being sold to Pipe when he then hacked up at Cheltenham. Elliott has had a very strong hand in bumpers this year and seems to favour JJ over General Principle so worth a small bet at price.

After Annie yesterday, much needed day of profit. Onwards and upwards!

Don Poli really saved my week today after the Annie Power disaster yesterday

2-3 days, usually closer to 3 in my experience.

I like the look of whisper in the world hurdle, the Henderson yard seemed to be talking up blue fashion and he was mentioned at a couple of preview nights as he has finished relatively close to faugheen yet geraghty has chosen whisper and judging on his form last year he has a cracking e/w chance.

As far as Champion Bumper winners go that had to be up there with the best of them. Looks money well spent

The great horse before the start of the race, it really left me hollow knowing that in all likelyhood he won't be seen again. He looked god before it and was on his toes, no doubt in my mind he was spot on

After all the guff I got the pig( :p) didn't make the top three even though Mr Mole and Sprinter misfiring and Champagne being a non runner.

Hopefully UDS can stay sound and give us a treat for the next few years after being robbed of Simonsig and Sprinter way too soon.

As I had been saying for months, TNO doesn't have the pace for a Champion and should have gone for the World Hurdle this year, he could have won it handy.
