If you are doing well with your placement company that's a massive advantage

Ohs son now works full-time where he did his placement

It certainly is an advantage alright ah I'm going to go all out for it and have no regrets if they don't hire me then they dont plenty of more jobs in the sea. Ah there is 100% employment in my course so it's not like I won't get a job but it will mean taking one in a different industry in Cork or Dublin where as I really like it where I am and wasn't sure if I would it says a lot about a place if you enjoy going to work in the morning and that I will be sad driving out the gate in September when it's all over.

Well there is an aptitude test. Then 2 rounds of interviews. Generally a manager, hr and engineer. The HR will ask you all the HR type curve ball questions then the engineer will just ask you straight out technical questions. Obviously then you have to get though the first round interview and aptitude test before getting called for second round.

Well the engineer will ask you competency questions from a technical viewpoint and the HR from a "how did you deal with a challenge" viewpoint.

Work on getting examples of both in your current role, that will get your enthusiasm for the company across.

Google competency based interview questions for examples to help you prepare

Did my fair share of Dublin driving today. Very quiet, I have to say. Bank Holiday Monday, I know, but still surprised at just how quiet the streets were. Flew through the city. Apparently it's generally like that on a Sunday, too? Any truth in that? Would be handy to know the quiet times!

Unrelated to motoring - People living in gated estates and apartment blocks are weirdly possessive about the keypad numbers. Been in and out of about 15 gated places the last few days (photo work), and holy mother of god... I don't know what they think they're protecting. It's borderline creepy how secretive some people are. Like I'm gonna break in and plant a bomb or something. Very frustrating. :o

Generally dead on Sundays/Bank Holidays unless you are going to the likes of Howth

Was on foot for all of my entries to be honest. Usually parked outside and put on my 'park anywhere' lights. :P

Annoyingly my window regulator has gone in the Alfa. The drivers window collapsed this evening. I can hear the motor whirring. Any idea if it's a part common to different cars or is it Alfa only?

This went in my first 156, my mechanic repaired it rather than replacing it.

    Where are you based?

Hoping it can be repaired. I'll be dropping it in to have it looked at on Wednesday

Drove down to Longford (woohoo, I know) and there was the same 24/7 filling station as in Carrick on Shannon. Stewarts is what they're called.

The Volvo broke over the weekend. Had been parked up in a field all weekend. Started it today and the engine management light came on. Struggled to get home. I'm 99% sure a coil is gone. Also, festival parking plus Irish weather results in this and that's clean compared to some of the other cars.

Am off down to him tomorrow to get the OHs car in for diagnosis

Anyone know of a nice c180 for sale?

I'm currently trying to suss out what is the best service interval for my car Computer is set to 30k km and that's what Renault recommend on the 2010 euro 4 engines 20k km on my 11 reg euro 5 30k km. Now to me 30k km is too long but I don't want it to be too short either as there not that cheap to buy parts for or service in general. I think I'll get the first service done in the main dealer I bought it in either way and I'm thinking of a 20k km ish interval.

I will always stick to the 12 k miles / 1 year interval as I'm an old fashioned fart :D

I haven't seen him on here in about a year. I used to see him in his Transporter van last summer when I lived in Athlone.

So that's basically 20k km so :pac: I'll have that up well before the year mark anyway.

Actually I got the service history for the car. To say every bulb was replaced by the same main dealer I bought it from. Every single set of tyres it got was put on by them every service literally no one else has every worked on it other than them by the looks of it.

I'd say he had no issues getting out of the mud
