I wouldn't say it's what I believe in, more just personal experience.

Ah yeah that's completely understandable, they are a consumable, it's just madness to suggest they need replacing every 2-3 years.

I have different definitions of madness

batteries are normally replaced every 2-3 years these days.

lad , between tyres and batteries , some servicing chain is taking you for a ride.

I find batteries in large diesels last 5 years handy enough , in petrol cars you'll get longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,902 ✭✭✭power pants

As much as I admit I am no google mechanic or the other type on here

spend 1000s every week for others to fix as I have chalked up yet another lemon :pac:

I dont go to chains and I am not taken for a ride, thanks

I replace my battery when it is needed. I said the place I wored in, it was common practice to replace the battery every 2-3 years. That was fact

Im sorry this is so hard to believe.

    @Chris_Heilong

Those alloys and that colour suit the car really well Chris.

If your battery is being replaced every 2 years you have an underlying problem.

    Alternator
    Corrosion
    etc

I will pen a letter to the dealership and the suppliers of the batteries with their warranties and explain what everyone on here as told me.

    Thanks again guys

Most batteries have a 3 to 5 year warranty also, I would get the alternator checked as well.

My mums car is finished being repaired not sure if she is collecting it today or tomorrow. She was over there and said it looked like a decent job but then decent job to her would be quickly glancing at it to make sure it's the correct colour. I'll through up a picture when she gets it.

Its a Toyota Progres NC250. Its a 2.5L RWD with a 1JZ engine. Unfortunately they are non Turbo so only make around 200hp. But they are super cheap at auction in Japan, we are talking hundreds of Euro not thousands for an early 2002 model. Would make an interesting rare project car for some one to slap a turbo on.

    Hi Power Pants
I bought a battery from Halfords in the City two years ago now and it is flat.
It doesnt hold a charge any more and the car wont start. They told me it wasnt covered by warranty even though I paid extra for three year warranty. I was annoyed as its a long drive for me to head to dublin to complain. Should I have just bought a new battery.

Its for a 1994 ford orion if that is helpful

    Ross

I know it's far from the nicest place on earth, but it would save him driving ~250km, if all he wants to do is pop into Halfords.

Yeah that'd be my guess. I know of a 2010 trajet......why someone bought one of them new in 2010 is beyond me.
