Best of luck with the new motor BP! Those Meganes are a very under-rated car IMO. If you get one with a bit of spec they are a very nice car and in terms of reliability they are a match for anything in our experience.

Thanks george. Having driven it for the day one thing I did think is that they are a very under-rated car. The one I'm getting has 117k km on it but a full renault service history from day one in the same garage the one I'm buying it in one owner too. It's the dynamique spec so all the essential extras it has. Such a pain they lost the keys but hopefully they will turn up. As I'm not sure how ordering keys from Renault will work with the Clifford alarm whether it's a seperate system or is it tied into the cars own security system.

The rev counter only goes to 5k?

And what's that weird white circle in the middle? Sorry no, being nosey as opposed to critical :)

Best of luck when you get the car I think they look lovely

It's diesel so would hit the limiter around 4.5k revs anyway. The outer ring doesn't do a whole lot the inner obviously reads speeds, temp, fuel but also when you turn on cruise control the set speed comes up about the current speed. It's actually a very easy to read display.

    That's 100k km they don't explode til 100k miles!

Ah I was forgetting it's the devils fuel lol

I would be willing to bet that if you ask them for the detailed history of the car you will find that it has needed nothing apart from regular servicing over the 117k, they really are a trouble free motor.

Yeah, but as of March 26th 2006 Renaults became 42% less shonky. Fact.

Id say your not far wrong. They are going giving me a print out of the service history when I collect the car.

Good luck the new motor bp mull , really smartly designed cars those megane3 I have not driven one but I have driven a mates Laguna 3 1.5 dci2007 and it never felt underpowered once

The aul lad got the laguna 3 1.5 dci. Review!

Engine is great, seats are great. Build quality is good apart from the doors which are average. Handles feel cheap and its a bit of a rattley shut. Dont like the steering wheel either. A bit plasticy.

Drive is average - good. Not great balance going around a roundabout or twisty roads but very smooth and comfy on a motorway.

Simlilar to the laguna 2 he had but with a better suspension and better seats. Some things feel a bit cheaper or lightweight maybe if your an optimist.

About 42mpg according to the onboard computer. He does very mixed driving.

It's a 08 with 85k km and so far 0 electrical prolems!!! Or any problems at all.

    Overall good!

Whats happening that red Mondeo you've posted pics off

Parents car. Although I do have use of it 95% of the time and I pay for any work that has to be done to it, I would prefer to start my own insurance policy as I am only a named driver on it - Therefore I must get my own car :(

At this stage, I'll more than likely get another diesel Ford so it wont be much of a change!

Whatever happened to the polo you were on about getting ?

All in all it ended up being a tad bit over my budget (insurance was the same as the Focus, will need road tax, has to get prepared for NCT, needs new tyres all around, has a few scrapes and dents etc.)

Bascially, I'd rather buy a car and still have a few euro in my bank account rather than clearing it all for a car which needs a bit of work done to it.
With the Focus Im looking at it comes with fresh NCT, 3 months tax, new tyres and condition of the car is immaculate.

Ah ok that makes sense alright.

Infairness if the focus is as good as you think seems it will be a great car. It was obviously well minded by the previous owner. High mileage is probably the biggest problem with it but I suppose it's a 10 year old diesel you have to be realistic too with expectations. The fact it sounds like pay for the car and insurance and your ready to go is a great thing.

Anyway I think you mentioned you were going looking at more cars today but it kind of sounds like you have your mind made up :)

Thats my biggest issue with the Focus but there are similar miles on similar cars on donedeal. Oh yes I know they'll be issues along the way but Im just making sure that I'll be able to afford the car and insurance right now and then I'll still have a few euro left aside for problems which may occur :)

Heading out the door right now actually! Not sure if I'll see much, but it'll be worth calling into a few places I guess!

Well if you have the attitude that you don't mind spending a few bob on it if something does go wrong then your not too bad. Anyway good luck with today's search and let us know how you get on.

Surly this is a complete scam. This would be worth so so so much more than 9k euro.

Mine was the same, ordered Saturday, had it Monday.

Was this from a main dealer? Do you mind me asking how much you payed? The key for your e39 might be the same as my cars key!

Yeah it came from Keary's BMW, was about €180 for the Diamond style key.

Cheers buddy! Yea that's the same key as the Z, it only came with one key so I might pickup another one.

Mine was the same, only one remote key which was dying anyway. I looked at other places for it but they came to roughly the same price so just decided to go the main dealer route.

Would be handy to get them to program my keys too, there's a few odd setup things in the car that are apparently codes to the key. Like my indicators not flashing when I lock the car etc... Small things but annoying!

That can all be unlocked if you know someone with INPA software, BMW will charge a fair bit for it or might not even do it at all.

Passed the NCT just there! With flying colours too. Hurray!

Who can actually fine you for tax being out obviously gaurds and trafic wardens when your parked in public car parks or public places. Would the trafic wardens generally give you a week or two grace or is it first day it's out and they see it they will do you.

Can the likes of private clappers do you in private car parks hardly ?
