just so we are clear, brady beat the seahawks, the st and defence did nothing

Not at all, taking nothing away from the efforts of the D etc. Convo was in relation to the QB. In that respect it was an exceptional display, especially considering some of the other prominent QBs in the league who had a tough time against the Seahawks.

Then stop checking it. Either that or report it to a mod (or become a mod and then tell people what to do).

It's my favourite thread on the website ordinarily, no way I'm not checking it. And ib didn't tell people what to do. I asked, (pleaded, actually).

Actually the defense nearly cost us that game, or to be more specific, Revis nearly cost us that game when he gave up the softest of TD with a schoolboy error.

And when you've just seen the greatest comeback in Superbowl twice being lead by Mr. Ice, of course he was the key player in all that. Now we all know you can't throw the ball to yourself, but let's be honest, if it was Rodgers, Brees or Peyton, the correspondence set of fans wouldn't stop fapping about it. And I wouldn't blame them for it.

Edit: Wasn't there another thread set up for all of this.

This may have been posted before so apologies if it has been, but remember Colt Lyerla?

Very talented TE out of Oregon who based on talent alone probably should have been a 2nd round pick at worst in the 2014 NFL draft but was a complete mess off the field and went undrafted. He joined the Packers as an UDFA but did his PCL and MCL a month before the season started and was subsequently released.

He's now playing professional rugby league in France for AS Carcassonne. Interesting/strange one.

It doesn't look good for Giants TE Daniel Fells :(

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000553694/article/mrsa-infection-leaves-giants-daniel-fells-in-dire-situation?campaign=Twitter_atn
With the Giants set to take the field tonight to play the 49ers, their tight end Daniel Fells is facing a far more serious battle.

Fells has been hospitalized for more than a week as he battles a persistent Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection that necessitated being placed in the Intensive Care Unit on Friday. He's since been moved to a private room to have a nurse focus solely on his care.

Fells has had five surgeries, according to a person with knowledge of his condition. More are coming, as doctors try to stave off further infection. As of Saturday night, they were fighting to save his foot, which is at risk given the nature of the infection.

He was placed on Injured Reserve this week, and it remains to be seen if he'll ever play again.

The situation arose, the source said, when Fells suffered a toe injury, then an ankle injury. To treat it, Fells was given a cortisone shot. After a week of ankle and foot pain, Fells' wife took him to the emergency room on Oct. 2 with a 104-degree temperature. There, they found his ankle was infected with MRSA, a dangerous staph infection that is resistant to many antibiotics.

With doctors hoping to avoid amputating his foot, the more urgent fear is that the MRSA has gotten into the bone and that it could travel into his blood. That could have the gravest of consequences.

Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said "this is a serious situation that has been taken seriously from the beginning. We're all fighting for Daniel." In fact, several Giants officials have visited Fells, including GM Jerry Reese and coach Tom Coughlin.

As a team, the Giants have also reacted, working with infectious disease specialists earlier in the week, and these experts defined protocols to follow in consultation with Duke Infection Control Outreach Network and others locally.

Their locker room, training rooms and meetings rooms were scrubbed and sanitized and players were briefed on precautions and how to prevent the spread of MRSA. Meanwhile, Fells remains away from the team, waging his own fight.

MRSA is no joke, really nasty infection. Hope he pulls through and keeps the foot.

It ended Carl Nicks career almost instantly and he was probably the best guard in the league at the time. Think the same happened to LeCharles Bentley a good few years back when he was one of the better linemen around, too. Very sad stuff, but forget his career - hopefully he's just alright in terms of his actual health.

Bar one game we're through 5 weeks. Some statistics that people probably didn't see coming before we kicked off in week 1:

    - Houston (5th) and Cleveland (8th) both ranked in the top 10 for total offense. At the other end of the scale, Denver (30th) and Indianapolis (23rd) ranked near the bottom of same.

    - Tennessee (3rd), Chicago (4th), Washington (6th) and Green Bay (7th) all ranked in the top 10 for total defense. At the other end of the scale, Baltimore (24th in total defense) only 2.2 points off the bottom of the table in terms of points conceded per game.

    - Andy Dalton #1 in total passing yards.

    - Chris Johnson 2nd only to Matt Forte in total rushing yards. Is it 2009 again?

And for those going to the London game in 3 weeks. :(

Charles and Megatron were the two I was really looking forward to seeing.

That was a significantly more attractive fixture in every way at the start of the season. The wheels are gone off the wagon in Detroit altogether.

Just looking through the active players who have made the most in terms of playing earnings, the top 10 looks like the below:

    #1 Peyton ($244m)
    #2 Eli ($187m)
    #3 Brady ($162m)
    #4 Rivers ($141m)
    #5 Brees ($150m)
    #6 ???
    #7 Roethlisberger ($140m)
    #8 Palmer ($138m)
    #9 ???
    #10 Vick ($121m)

Anyone care to guess who #6 and #9 are without looking it up? Hint - they're the only 2 in the top 12 that aren't QB's.

I'll guess Woodson and Harrison because they played a long time and would of been on big contracts in their prime

Peppers is correct. He ranks #6 with $147m. I was shocked when I saw that one.

    Spot on mate.

Peppers #6 and Fitzgerald #9 ($129m) were the two. I never in a million years would have guessed Peppers.

Houston have the fastest offense in the NFL by something insane like 4 seconds average. Makes absolutely no sense when you're primarily a running team, and the outsider in most games, meaning you're trying to increase variance by having fewer plays. Makes me think BOB hasn't a cue what he's doing. An awful lot of those yards came in garbage time too when the other team had given up

I only guessed him because Allen was getting an insane 17m a year from the Vikings and it was comparable to Peppers at the time. Both rather old too

Last bit of career earnings trivia from me today - Adrian Peterson unsurprisingly and deservedly ranks #1 with $84m made so far out of all active players. Can anyone guess the rest of the top 5?

    #2 = $61m
    #3 = $51m
    #4 = $49m
    #5 = $46m
