Hopefully we have all expressed ourselves fully on this little PR/media related diversion. lets try to get back on track for the EI Fleet Discussion.

Are EI 'still' getting 2 330s next year or has one been cut in the IAG fleet trim... Thought I saw that 1 330 had been removed.

Any word of cabin refits for the a320 fleet (slim line)... And AerSpace being included... Seems to have disappeared since it was announced over 18months ago.

The EI route announcement on Tuesday mentioned an additional A330 joining the fleet for Summer 2017. Thus allowing the additional capacity on the LAX/MCO/ORD routes and then the MIA route to start from Sept 1st.
I dont think it mentioned a 2nd one, someone else might have spotted a reference I missed?

ive a funny feeling the 2nd A330 will be early 2018,the next A330 should be west coast equipped i.e forward flight crew rest like DUO and Lower deck crew rest hook up and 242T MTOW

Honestly, it's been tried before but we have seats that came from an Iberia contract that we got lumped with, in two aircraft and we have at least three galley types and several variations of Recaro seats. It's not that easy to maintain commonality unless you are very disciplined during purchasing.

Is that the aircraft with the reddish seats? Was in a flight from Munich recently and the seats were sort odd red. Fwiw the carpet which was also red was pretty threadbare and (it was a late flight) from what I course see was bald in places. Seats were grand but carpet looked sh*t.

Looks like just 11 aircraft, between June-September 3 gaps (+1 on S16) and once MIA commences there is 11 aircraft with no gaps. Aircraft number 12 by September (332 schedules drop to 3 as things stand). Hopefully they hold onto EWR as spare for the few weeks or they will take a feq or two off ORD.

I would be surprised if there is not an additional A320 (at least one) added to fleet or leased peak season. The level of additional flights cannot be squeezed into existing frames. Lot of long Canaries sectors added and other long routes. That is unless they plan to run maybe 2-3 daily A330 ops in Europe up from just daily AGP and x2 FAO.

Looking at the loads/demand alone for this summer schedule re FAO/AGP they could stuff a 330 operating twice daily to both destination

I think they are planning on returning 3 320's and hiring in next summer, I'm not sure what the rational is though for this plus it's only a rumour.

I suspect replacing those 3 with new leases possible younger frames and/or even cheaper prices. I also think there could be a 4 month lease on top of it of an aircraft. On a.net a post had the reg's of two possible frames going, two from Little Red which were kept so could be some legacy issues with those.

    Time will tell.

Where could it have being going? Could it have been used for a t/a route, a stand in perhaps, with refuelling on the way?

There have been charter flights from Dublin to Reykjavik (Keflavik airport) traditionally every November.

It presumably was one of those. I saw an Aer Lingus flight to Reykjavik recently myself online.

    It certainly wasn't transatlantic.

Chill folks. Rest assured AL ain't sending a non approved etops 320 across the ocean to the land of the free. 'Twas EI 4960/1 - DUB-KEF-DUB.

For a moment there I thought this was the Dublin spotters page with the reaction to an EI A320 doing something out of the ordinary........

At least it happened on a quiet November Wednesday when they had a spare aircraft around to immediately replace this one.
Is it EI-DER ? Suppose it will be a few weeks out of service then

About it taking the engine clean off the aircraft :D

Layman here. Looks like that whole front 'panel' can be removed and replaced at one go. Doesn't look like any 'superficial' damage to the main cover or cowling.

Indeed, we have seen this before with 'special livery' aircraft using engine cowlings from normal fleet spares.

The issue here is that the engine will need to be inspected to ensure that the damage is only superficial. If the ground equipment made any impact upon the internal structure of the engine then its a whole different story than a quick change of pants!

If only it was that simple. A lot of inspection work will need to be done to certify this one ready.

As a very good friend of my says, " there is no hard shoulder to pull in on at FL 35"!

"There’s a button on the de-icing rig that engages the handbrake and sometimes that malfunctions, and when that happened this morning it rolled into the plane,”

This is the one I find inexcusable; if the equipment is very heavy and has known faults, it's hard to see how it's acceptable for it to be brought into service without additional precautions given the possibility of a more serious incident. It may simply be loose talk, I guess, rather than negligence.

Somebody didn't follow the correct procedure, even if it's a mechanical error/malfunction, someone didn't do their job properly.

How do you know ? How do you know it wasn't just a malfunction ? Why would a malfunction mean someone defiantly wasn't doing their job, some times malfunctions just happen!
