    Congrats on the 1000 miles!!

Altogether now! You would walk run 500 miles and you would walk run 500 more just to be the one to walk run 1000 miles to fall down at your door....

    :pac:

Sat 14th Nov 4 miles including Cabinteely parkrun @ 8.45 avg hr 166

In some ways life goes on despite the fact the world became another bit darker last night.

I wasn't planning to race this morning, just needed a good workout and had to be on the SS for something else anyway. Miserable wet, windy, and for the first time COLD! I ran this almost completely on my own which is a rare occurrence for parkrun but the field was quite spread out from early on. Had planned to run around 9 min miles and apart from lap one which has a big downhill section to start off with I wasn't too far off, I didn't check the watch until after I'd finished.
8:20, 8:53, 8:50, no official results yet but time around 27.33

followed by coffee, scone, token drying :) everything was wet today! fair play to the volunteers standing out in that rain, people are great really, I'm sure everyone would rather have had a lie on than marshal, free of charge, 56 nutcases who wanted to run in the rain :pac:

30 min swim & sauna. I was quite tired in the pool today, I can usually do 10 laps before taking a break but this morning I was stopping after every 2nd one. Still enjoyed it, really getting to love the pool and definitely improving every week even though that's not really my goal.

    Sunday 15th November 11.5 miles easy @ 10.58 avg hr 136

    39 miles WTD
    81 miles MTD
    1,019.8 YTD

I lost my running buddy due to the awful weather this morning, I don’t blame her!! I could have stayed home too but as marthastew said yesterday, solo training runs are character building so I charged my ipod, packed my HTFU and set off in the lashing rain on local loops that take in some breathtaking industrial units, wastelands and motorway ring roads....character building indeed!

This got me through some of the tougher miles. delighted to be done and dusted and, finally I see my paces coming down V hr, finally!

    Lap Distance Pace HR
    1 1.0 mi 10:55 /mi 131 bpm
    2 1.0 mi 11:06 /mi 136 bpm
    3 1.0 mi 11:00 /mi 133 bpm
    4 1.0 mi 10:56 /mi 135 bpm
    5 1.0 mi 10:46 /mi 136 bpm
    6 1.0 mi 11:05 /mi 136 bpm
    7 1.0 mi 11:08 /mi 137 bpm
    8 1.0 mi 10:56 /mi 134 bpm
    9 1.0 mi 10:31 /mi 140 bpm
    10 1.0 mi 11:03 /mi 138 bpm
    11 1.0 mi 11:29 /mi 136 bpm
    12 0.5 mi 10:15 /mi 142 bpm

Next week is a step back week with Stook 10 mile on the Sunday, I signed up for this to get a better idea from the calculators of what MP might be. In the meantime Myles suggested I talk to Pconn about HR training and his advice was to go and get a lactate threshold test which is the best way to find out your HR zones so I've orgnaised that for the weekend after next. I will still race Stook as I've only ever done one 10 miler and its no harm to see where I am with the longer stuff anyway, also, I've always wanted a cowbell... I believe there's a tasty hill in there too

Looking out for a 10-miler around that time as part of the marathon buildup, this might fit the bill.

    Monday 16th Nov 4 miles easy @ 10:36 avg hr 135

Lunchtime run with the ever bubbly aquinn, much needed & thanks for the company :) Winter and I don't get on and I can already feel the clouds forming overhead, possibly time to look for a multi vit... Legs & body very tired today too. Have been getting up close and personal with the foam roller & stick for the last week and its helping but the usual mileage increase affects are happening. On the upside, the dog has discovered if he stands in a particular spot when I'm foam rolling he gets a back rub :D

    Tuesday 17th Nov Club session 6 * 400

Lots of talk this eve about whether there was a session on or not, of course there was, runners are nuts, right? I nearly didn't make it as my train was blocked by a fallen tree and we were 35 mins late getting home. Changed and headed straight down to the cul de sac, no one there. I though super everyone's decided to stay home & proceeded to do the same, met the crew coming down the road so back I went, no getting out of it now :D actually I didn't want out (or else I'd just have stayed home!) The club were doing 12, I did 6 in a row and headed off.

    warm up, 1.7 miles @ 10:04

    Lap Distance Time Pace HR
    1 0.2 mi 1:48 6:59 /mi 151 bpm
    2 0.2 mi 1:50 6:59 /mi 157 bpm
    3 0.2 mi 1:54 7:15 /mi 163 bpm
    4 0.2 mi 1:58 7:37 /mi 161 bpm
    5 0.2 mi 1:59 7:41 /mi 162 bpm
    6 0.2 mi 2:11 8:33 /mi 162 bpm

those are terrible times, I was completely banjaxed by the last two but I didn't think the last one was that bad at the time :( enjoyed it nonetheless.

    1 mile cooldown @ 10:52

That's the most important thing you take out of the session, I would read nothing into times in an evening like that. Fair fooks for doing it, many wouldn't have bothered.

Eh less of the judgement there please :D:D. Maybe it was a case that those who didn't, obviously including myself but sticking up for the masses, listening to the weather forecast and heeded advice to stay inside! It was a great evening for ironing and tv so not completely wasted like :p

Save it you wussed out, all the REAL runners got out and ran yesterday. As for using your dog to test the weather yesterday evening, less said about that!!!

    Wednesday 18th Nov 3.15 miles @ 11:23 avg hr 130

Wrapping the legs up in cotton wool for the rest of the week, I wanted to keep this very slow with v low HR, the first mile was too fast but settled into a jog thereafter & managed to dodge the rain, this time. I got so wet this morning on the walk to work I had to go into Penneys and buy new clothes & boots

    Thursday 19th Nov 4.77 miles @ 11:00 avg hr 130

Easy run while the club were doing their tempo. Chilly night but perfect for running.

My foot is sore, there, I said it :( its been sore for the last few weeks (and in typical murphy's law, just after I'd been to the physio for something else ) the reality is while I've been 'doing' my strength sessions its been haphazard and half assed and this is the result. So with that in mind I went to a strength session at the club last night and we've been given a good basic program, combined with the stuff I already have I've put two different programs together, printed them out and stuck them on the wall along with a a schedule. I"m hoping this will keep me honest because if I don't sort the foot there will be no marathon.

jeez it seems to be the week for injuries. I hope the foot heals and doesn't scupper your marathon plans.

You have chosen the path less travelled, FD .....

Hope that chart will fill up and make the difference, I know how tough it is. Still Rotterdam on the cards?

yes that's the hope M, still lots of time to pull my socks up and sort this before the training starts, its partly due to the increase in mileage and partly down to not be meticulous with the prehab & rehab. Great to see you back logging & running again, long may it last & onwards with your own plans :)

Remember our novice advice, I have been expecting you acknowledge it,
take advice of Physio, don't let it get into your head to much and I'm sure
You'll work through it. Best of luck😀

    Friday 20th Nov 4 miles @ 11:02 avg hr 131

Lunch time run, winter has arrived, never really warmed up on this tbh. Got my pre run and post run routines done. Didn't get to do any strength in the PM but a couple of hours dancing in 5" heels seems to have fixed my foot...and far more fun than bodyweight exercises!

    Saturday 21st Nov

Some parkrun volunteering aka freezing to death :D jeeez it was Cold this morning, the runners definitely got the better end of the stick today. Followed by a swim & sauna, where I finally thawed out. 30 mins strength and some foam rolling & stretching, will do some more foam rolling this evening but tbh the foot feels great today, not a peep out of it (I bet I've just jinxed it).

The plan for tomorrow was to run the race at 9:09 - 9:15 min miles, the HM pace I have yet to achieve over 13.1. However, it seems this hill in Stook is in fact a mountain that goes on for 2(?) miles, I'm sure that's a clubmate exaggerating?! Anyway, I'll take it as it comes, I want to see a) if my longer distance aerobic capacity has improved since doing the HR training and b) get a closer estimate of MP.
