Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ifyou are a first time buyer, there is a guy on Instagram, crazyhouseprices that people seem to swear by for giving tips and guidance on his page through the house buying process. He has a few things in his highlights that might be worth reading anyway - he also has a book out. Just thought I'd mention it :)

I'll look him up, @miamee thank you for the tip! I'll need all the advice I can get!

Kids birthday today, few bits planned and all had to cancelled, my daughter tested positive for covid this morning. Unbelievable timing!

    More cake for me though!!

Had my first lie on in a few weeks, have just polished off a couple of sausage and rasher toastie sandwiches, second cup of tea about to be made. Don't have to be anywhere in a rush.

Have a voucher for a local tool shop so will go down there and pick up a few bits that aren't going to cost me anything, have to get away from going into work on Saturdays and enjoying mornings like this.

It really is the little things.

Our match was cancelled this morning as pitches were deemed unplayable. Was never so happy to have a game called off. Can get the grocery shop done at a leisurely pace for a change.

Dublin Bowie fest coming up. It's usually in January which is great for dissolving the post Christmas blues but it's in early Feb this year. Cannot wait!

    6 Nations back tonight!!

Really tough start for Ireland, tonight's game could be a championship decider & no tougher place to go than France when they've a good side!!

Lets hope our lads are up for it now!

Trip to Centre Parcs is booked, first hol this year and first as a family of 4.

With the OH being off on maternity leave we could book off peak as well for a change.

Checking in after a week of not being online here. Finished in my old job last Friday and started my new one this Tuesday gone.

    how was everyone’s long weekend??

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 24,987 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

Weekend was good, nice and relaxing and the weather stayed good long enough for us to get us and do stuff oh and Ireland stuffed France in the rugby all good!

Hope the new job is going well!

  • Registered Users Posts: 216 ✭✭Andrew93

Yes I got to enjoy the rugby. Bittersweet feeling after the World Cup.

Jobs going great just trying to be a sponge and absorb as much information as possible. It is the same area as before so a lot of crossover thankfully!

VERY bittersweet after the world cup, but good to shake those world cup blues/cobwebs quickly and move on.

Great to hear the new job is going well!

Stunning day today. Got walks in playground trip in and the dogs got a big walk in the park.

  • Registered Users Posts: 216 ✭✭Andrew93

Got out for two walks with the little one over the weekend thanks to the improvement in weather.

Reminded me of the good times ahead with the brighter and warmer evenings incoming!

Got my official offer of a place on my masters course for September this morning. Had a strong feeling I'd get it but there's a lot of competition for place so it's a relief to have it.

    Takeaway and bubbles tonight😁

Would have been wt the match only we had a night away booked. Instead had to find a pub that would show it (man utd match on at the same time). But then we stayed for the next match to see who we'd be playing in the semis 😄

As a Royal I can't thank your post DvB 🤣, wish we could get back to the days when these games were competitive.

Booked a few days away in Spain today, going in just two weeks. With Mam dying two weeks ago I just said to the wife - life is for living. Cousin has a place over there, getting it for free, cheap flights because we could be flexible with days and times.

Just going to go over there and chill out for 5 days.

I'm still bitter over the 4 game saga in the early 90s... 😉

All kidding aside the GAA need to do something, croker was about a quarter full today, 10 years ago that would have had 60k at least at it.

    Championship starts too early imo.

Ah, that sounds lovely, @BK5. I hope you are doing okay. ❤️

I was at them games in '91. The Leinster championship is a joke at this stage alright.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,032 ✭✭✭BK5

Doing ok, still hasn't sunk in fully to be honest but Dad is doing well so that's the main thing. Thanks for your post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,483 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Yeah enjoy the break, getting away from the day to day will do you good given everything you've been through. And you're spot on, life is for living, think we all allow ourselves to forget that far too much.

I was at the 3 draws, was working for the fourth and was gutted when we blew it at the death.

Great drama though, made the championship, especially with no back door in those days.

Sickener was after those 4 epic games we ended up playing 11 games in the championship that year and didn't even win it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,483 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Cork beat ye in the final after a replay was it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,032 ✭✭✭BK5

Down beat us in the final, they got off to a good lead and we hadn't the energy to catch them.

Just checked and Meath played 10 games that year and it took us 8 just to win Leinster!

Into the 100s on the countdown tomorrow... always a solid marker that one.

Heading over to Slovakia on Wednesday evening for a few days. Meals 6 to 10 euros, pints about 1.30 to 1.50 and weather for Thursday is for rain but Fri, Sat & Sun is 24 degrees and sunny. Can't wait, get me out of here!

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 24,987 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

Can I come too. I’ll hide in the stow away and won’t make a fuss.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,032 ✭✭✭BK5

Ha ha, would if I could pal. My wife and myself shagged off to Spain in April after my Mam died in March for 4 days on the cheapest flights we could get. If you can at all get away for a bit of R&R try to take it, glad to see you back on here ❤️

I literally wanted to go away abroad for 4 days too but need to find someone to mind the two kids.
