Easily the best bit of action cinema in a long, long time. Revived cinema as a medium to be honest, those wide angle pan shots are drool worthy.

And for a movie that is so balls to the wall with style and action, it has some remarkable moments sprinked around the insanity that lend a touching element to the harshness of it all.

    Like when
Rictus is told he had a baby brother and he yells to the War party "I had a baby brother, a little baby brother perfect in every way."
That kind of stuff really puts this movie through the heavens in terms of how perfect it is.

Anyone listened to the new Muse album yet? Seems less all over the place compared to their last one. Some really good tracks in there.

if pretentiousness had a sound track, it would be a Muse album.

Anyone have suggestions for relatively low calorie snacks that will satisfy my sweet tooth?

I'm trying to lose some weight around my waist, so I'm trying to reduce my calorie intake but have noticed lately that shortly after dinner I'm really craving something sweet. I'm doing 3/4 sessions in the gym plus 2 evenings of tag so I'm fairly happy on the exercise part of losing the weight

Rice cakes? 80% chocolate in small amounts? Some dried fruit and nuts? Protein shakes? Banana?

Not if you put something on them like a smear of nut butter and honey

I'm sure this is probably very calorific so feel free to ignore from that perspective, but the Happy Pear gluten free and dairy free snickers bars are absolutely amazing. Made them the other night and they are incredibly filling.

The base is made from agave, almond butter, crushed almonds and vanilla extract. The caramel is made from pitted dates, coconut oil and peanut butter. Layer the caramel on top of the base, top with a few peanuts and/or hazelnuts and you're good to go. You don't even have to drown them in dark chocolate, but it helps.

I'm not doing my "not a hipster" image any favours here, am I?

They'd be calorific but ideal after a big running session or game of tag etc

    Got the recipe?

There are rice cakes with an orange yoghurt glaze or chocolate layer on them available in supermarkets. Both tasty.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I was completely with awec and thought ak had temporarily lost it suggesting rice cakes as a sweet treat, but I'm just in from a tag match and tried it and it's actually quite nice with peanut butter and honey so gold star for you ak :)

In case anyone cares, I am that much of a nutrition nerd that I worked out the macros from a batch (using the recipie as per that video) and assuming it make 12 bars:

    Base: Cals Protein Carbs
    65g Agave syrup 202 0 49
    240g Almond butter 1530 51 42
    8-10 Tablespoons of Almond meal/ Ground almond 871 34 9
    A pinch of Salt 12 0 1
    1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 0 0 0

    Caramel:
    180g pitted dates 507 1 127
    90g Almond or peanut butter 574 19 16
    4-7 teaspoons of water 0 0 0
    4 tablespoons of coconut oil 480 0 0
    100g chopped roasted almonds/peanuts 380 18 12

    Chocolate: 2571 32 219

    Total Per Batch 7127 155 475

    Total Per Bar 594 13 40

So by my calculations that leaves approx 43g of fat per bar, but mostly healthy fats.

Looks like the FAI are in trouble.

They've come out and said they got 5million (currency still debatable) off FIFA and that it's in their accounts. The Times have it that it's not in their accounts but far far far smaller loans/grants are!

The main thing I took from your table Neil is that vanilla extract has no calories so I can drink a while bottle and satisfy my sweet cravings without guilt :)

They are pretty heavy so we ended up making the bars a bit smaller. I think we got 20 or so out of the whole batch. So that's about 356, 8 and 24 per bar.

This stinks of Delaney trying to cover himself and get it out there before it comes out in the wash.

Why wasn't the money shown in the accounts? What was it used for? Is there any left?

It's not like this was chump change. €5m that they wouldn't have budgeted for (and if they did, they're morons) could do a lot of good work in funding the sport in Ireland.

The interview with D'Arcy was a pretty sorry affair although I only heard a snippet. It was painful how eager he was to paint himself as a crusader, facing down Blatter for the injustice of the handball incident. Didn't seem like RD was in any way trying to ask any good questions on it either.

The whole incident was pretty embarrassing. We don't deserve anything because a ref makes a mistake how much did Fifa pay England after the Hand of God.
